We didn't want to share loot with him so clearly we abandoned him :P

Holger will easily pull Randy up. While he doesn't feel tired at all, the pulling haven't really warmed up his legs and getting further up isn't going to be as smooth.

Holger str: 2D20.HIGH(1)+2 = [20, 8]+2 = 22
Holger constitution: 1D20+2 = [19]+2 = 21
Holger acrobatics: 1D20+5 = [8]+5 = 13

Every body is now at the top of the cliff, Randy has made it out of the last bit of jumbled boulders and rock (where you guys peeked down into the tunnel before).

Randy takes a quick look around and sighs as he doesn't see anything immediately useful to tie the rope to. He's not willing to go wandering away from the hole until more are up.
Perception: 1D20+3 = [3]+3 = 6

He ties a loop in the end of the rope and tosses the tied end down to the others, ready to help pull someone up.

^Rope is already tied off at the top of the slope, by Zephyr. Who is also at the top of the slope.

Judging by the sun, it is closer to noon than to dawn. The open road stretches before you.

((I think the way I'd like to handle overland travel is to have two main roles filled. Someone to scout a bit ahead (and make a Survival check for the day's travel), and for someone to take point of the main party (and make a Perception check). Both individuals also roll a d12.))

Everything is quiet out still in terms of other creatures, you have a fair bit of travel to reach the edge of where the blight induced lack of animal life had extended to. A soft breeze rustles the grass, but there are no sounds of insects, birds, or any larger forms of life.

Zephyr heads out, leading the group on a "shortcut" that eventually does dump them out on the caravan route, dirty, a bit scratched up and sweaty, having bypassed the campsite from a few nights ago, which presumably lies further to the east of where they meet up with the roadway. She sets out, picking up pace until she is maybe a minute or two ahead at a relaxed walking pace, but always certain to make sure to keep the rest of the party in sight. Happy to be out from underground, she can't help but gaze up at the soft clouds rolling across the blue sky... and completely walking right past trace of hoofprints...

Zephyr pauses at the top of the rise and is waiting for the group to catch up before she heads down into a shallow spot. The rest of the party is maybe 300 feet behind her, with Randerwaith taking point 30 feet in front of the jovially singing and dancing band. Randerwaith spots the glint of sunlight off metal to the left (south) of the route, about 80 feet ahead.

When advised of possible trouble, Coljin gets his crossbow ready...and moves a bit away from the main crowd, at least 20 feet away from anyone else.
