And to catch up...
When coljin asks where she ran off to, Zephyr replies, somewhat coldly. "I didn't run off, I went scouting."
And history check, with advantage:
HISTORY: 2D20.HIGH(1)+2 = [20, 17]+2 = 22
(I know all the things, at least about goblins.)

Re: The Sundered Way
Zephyr would know that it would be rather unusual for a goblin tribe to set up so close to a main thoroughfare, most tribes tend to say somewhat insular. For them to be here might either mean that they have been subjugated by one of the other goblinoid races and forced here, or they have been driven out of their normal lands.

"Hmm, it would be unprecedented for a tribe to be this close to such a main road, they typically like to remain to themselves and as far away from humans as possible. Except for the city variety, but those are a different breed. If they are here, my concern is what forced them to come here. I would ask that you not harm any of them until I have a chance to talk to them, if we can deal with the issue that brought them here, we could smash two snails with one stone."

Zephyr will investigate the abandoned camp for clues as to where they may have come from, have gone, etc.

Randy rather listlessly looks around:
survival (disadvantage): 2D20.LOW(1)+5 = [4, 14]+5 = 9
He can tell they were here and that they are no longer here. That's about it.

Re: The Sundered Way
On the far side of the ruins, Zephyr finds evidence of enclosed campfires, a latrine, and the indication that they had been camped here for at least half a week. Despite the expected disorder of an abandoned encampment, it does show signs of some degree of forethought and order. One of the areas near the latrine does have some spattering of blood, blood soaked bandages, and the like. It seems possible that the group had recently seen combat.

Zephyr looks at the blood, wondering how fresh it is. She also takes a good long sniff, trying to determine if it was only goblin blood. She looks around to see if its possible to tell what direction they headed in.

Some is a few days old, some a bit fresher. It's all just blood, hard to tell who it came from, but from the traces left behind, and your familiarity with such things, you know it to be a goblin camp. What recent tracks you can make out seem to be heading way from the road, towards the back side of the plateau.

((If there isn't anything that anyone else is doing, we can just say that some among you lead the Abbey contingent down into the ruins, past the riddle door with the statues, and give them a general layout of the complex. Coljin is picking up two new items from the safes, but think everyone else is full up? Anything more you guys want to do here? If not, we can say it's a day or so later, Randy is feeling back to himself again, and you are ready to continue onward. The Abbey's quartermaster gives you each 20 gold as your escort fee.))

Cool stuff Nem would be staying with the cart the whole time anyway, so unless the goblins need more investigation, she'd just have been chilling out there.

Re: The Sundered Way
That is exactly what Coljin does, he is excited to get to the safes and get his new two random items!
He then also explains to one of the lead Abbey explorers about the secret room they found and how to get into it using the hidden switch in the alter (I think it was an alter).
Also he reminds them that it pretty much takes a gnome to safely open or utilize some of the doors/items in here so they should use caution.
So....What do my two new trinkets look like?

Re: The Sundered Way
^Is there any way to determine what tribe these goblins were, based on who they were cursing, etchings etc. Because knowing what tribe they were, would mean I would know what general area they were located from and if they were running from something, it means I would know what area they were running from.
Just saying.

((Actually, Coljin wouldn't even need to wait to find out what his new two items would do- Ulmwin can identify them, now, on the downtime. After putting his own a safe distance away, of course. And discussing fees... ))

That would be great Ulmwin, and don't worry, we'll just take it out of my 'healing' fees.

Re: The Sundered Way
It looks like the goblins had managed to make it down here, and have done some amount of looting, but there wasn't a lot of value just left laying about by you guys. There are goblin etchings in the wall, but they aren't real informative for those who can read Goblin, mostly curses or slurs at other goblin tribes.
The Abbey folks do manage to figure out that the statues merely need to be activated in the reverse order to raise the portcullises from inside the room.
((Pretty sure Maji had figured this out when you were first there, but it may have been forgotten by the time you left!))
They had been forewarned about the gnome bit, and there are two rather bookish gnomes in the party.
Coljin picks up a circular jade 'ring' (about the size and shape of a donut), and a metal stake, pointed on one end, the other end scorched and a bit... melted?
((Zephyr, give me an... Insight check please.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Most of the derogatory statements scrawled on the walls make reference to the OrcFren tribe of goblins ("OrcFren gobs let bugbears spatula their egg timers!" "How you tell a goblin is OrcFren? It spoon its own ladle with its own knife!").
While you recall the OrcFren as being a tribe of goblins under the sway of larger, more powerful goblinoids, you can't recall specific animosities between them and other tribes. Your chasm goblins were a bit more isolated than some of the others.

((The jade ring will expand to enclose the user in a translucent snake, whose movements and actions can be controlled by the 'driver' within. The snake lasts for 3 hours, or until reduced to 0HP.
The metal rod will summon forth an electrical storm when activated and planted firmly in the ground. The area within a 60 ft radius is covered by a storm cloud, and lightning strikes creatures within the area randomly at the end of the users turn each round.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy looks doubtfully at the metal rod. "Be careful about that one, Coljin. That sounds almost as dangerous to the user as the target."
Randy is "mostly" back to normal. He still twitches a little at sudden movement in the dark and still seems...uneasy...in general. Any attempts to talk to him about his acid trip causes him to blanch and hurriedly change the subject.
