Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons
TBH I still don't understand the question.
We get a common language "for free", which most, but not all races are able to (or willing to) speak or understand to SOME extend. Is that correct?
And every other language will be learned by investing points into culture? Do we have to pick the language(s) at some point, or is it predetermined by the amount of skill points which language you can speak?
Or will spoken languages be a separate skill and culture will just influence how "charming" you're able to speak whichever language?
And will the amount of mental communication points you have influence how "charming" word pictures you can send? As in speak more convincingly on a telepathic level?
Will the way players are wording things still take some influence on the NPC reaction or not?

Drakken & Common (Free) +1 Additional Language per Culture/Communication PointWe get a common language "for free", which most, but not all races are able to (or willing to) speak or understand to SOME extend. Is that correct?
YesAnd every other language will be learned by investing points into culture?
Picking would be acceptable, and picking from the Dnd list would be best.Do we have to pick the language(s) at some point, or is it predetermined by the amount of skill points which language you can speak?
History/Culture/Languages was the original ability name. and the benefit of knowing a language would be a simpler method of talking to someone who speaks a foreign language + ability to read languages or ancient writings...There is nothing sweeter than being talked to in your native language...Or will spoken languages be a separate skill and culture will just influence how "charming" you're able to speak whichever language?
Charming is not the right word, but more "effectiveness" of your message. Meaning more mental points would allow you to more effectively convey your intent to the person/persons.And will the amount of mental communication points you have influence how "charming" word pictures you can send? As in speak more convincingly on a telepathic level?
Yes, which is probably why I was having a difficulty time remembering that thinks had strong culture...because her language was very much in line with her character (haughty, vain, etc)....so my NPC's were reacting to her wording and...I kept forgetting to "soften the blow" of her words...which I intend to do better at with her. Will the way players are wording things still take some influence on the NPC reaction or not?

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons
OK, as long as it encompasses the cultural aspects as well as just the language that sounds fine to me. THere's nothing worse than being all polite and formal with your greetings if you accidentally do it while walking all over a sacred lawn or something

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons
Had a half day vacation to use today and I'm off the rest of the week, wasn't overly motivated when I got home to an empty house to do much else than catch up on some video games. Will try to put together posts for AoD and Fallout tonight. Thanks for you patience....
Need to run to the store and grab myself some "Not your fathers Root-beer" for some.....liquid inspiration.

I had vacation the majority of last week, thus my long silence. I am back, and updates will go back to a more normal schedule, which has been ~daily, but mostly reactive to you all.
Thanks for your patience.

How much do our dragons know about the magic of smoked meats???

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons
Dragons rarely "preserve meat", mostly because there is almost never a reason to do so. Those dragons that do understand it is because they have spent a short span of time with humans.
So, anyone who would have been under Pantera learning culture would know that this is a common thing to do among humans (curing meat/smoking meat, etc)

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons
If there would be anyone else interested in getting in on this...I may be willing to allow it. There'll be times throughout the game when I can have the chance to introduce another dragon. One of those is actually right now, with Thinks, Quarg, Theis group.
1st question, current players: would you care if someone else joined?
2nd question: is there anyone even interested?

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons (Maybe recruiting)
1. Well it depends a lot on the dragon the new player will be allowed to "steer". If they are much older and/or have much more skill than we, I think that would be pretty unfair to us other players.
Also, personally I would like to have some "NPC" dragons (possibly even for mating purposes someday in the future) available so we don't -have to- pick our dragon's allies/friends/mates/... from the other players. It's nice to have options is all I'm saying.

They would start out at the same age and skill ability that you lot did.
There are....will be.....other niches of dragons that you'll find...
you just haven't found them yet.

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons (Maybe recruiting)
I'm in no rush and I didn't expect us to find them on the first bit of the world we went to explore, especially since these 3 islands/kingdoms were supposed to be human territory.. I'm just saying, even if interest of potential players equals number of dragons (of that age) to be found, I would prefer some of them to be of the NPC kind.

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons (Maybe recruiting)
Why don't you go ahead and give me everything as if you were making a character. I may be able to fit you in really soon, if you are indeed interested in playing. You do have dragon in your name after all.
To play:
Name:
Sex:
Color/description:
Personality:
Just understand that you "might not" get as much or as cool of a intro story as the others did, because I'll be rushing you through the 50 years so that you'll be old enough to join the others.
As for abilities, they will roughly be the same, but there will be an exception to the magic you can learn, but we'll get to that later. Please think about what abilities you may want to learn, This was covered in some section somewhere, I can rehash if you need me to.

Re: OOC/LORE for The Age of Dragons (Maybe recruiting)
No worries about rushing things, been on/ off reading the main thread so know some bits.
So off top om my head
Name: Winter
Sex: Male
Color/description: White/ bulky, well muscled, sleek,
Personality: Stalwart, courageous, stubborn, a little arrogant,
Will need to go read the abilities stuff, but thinking more of a physical guardian esk character, but nothing solid so can change to fit with what ever works with the story line.

Hey, I'm sorry for not being active for quite a while but the last couple of months have proven to be a lot busier than usual and I think I might have to call it quits on this game as I have a hard time getting around to doing all I have to while remaining active on the forum.
I hope I'll still have time to read the thread though

I'm sorry to hear that theis, luckily for you, you are in the right place at the right time. You'll be taken under the wing of Hasken, to learn the magic of transformation. And Patdragon will be able to step in and somewhat take your place, as the happy go lucky member of the party.

Sorry to see you go, Theis. Or go on hiatus, if that's the case.
Best of luck with whatever else is taking up your time.
