Re: Dungeon crawler
Suppose I might as well... Actually, I already have a couple ideas, but... Well, it's just that mostly while looking through my options, I start thinking of several variations, and I already have ideas for three different sorcerers. To help pick which ones I think would fit most along with other classes, what will be the scenario of us ending up in the maze? Are we just regular adventurers and this is our next heist? Are we thrown in there expected to never find our way out?
Also, all of these sorcerer backgrounds would be fine, right? I'm mostly asking to see if this site is fine to use and see what I can make.

Anything except UA sources is fine by me, so any except phoenix, sea and stone origins.

Well, guess I'll strike the phoenix idea one off the table, then. I think Divine soul is actually also Unearthed? I found a different source stating it came from there, at least, but I'm not sure.
Anyways, I'll try to get up my own three classes soonish. I suppose I'll just pick and adapt them as needed...

Let's see...
Got a lightfoot halfling cleric, a hill dwarf wizard, and a stout halfling bard. Definitely different.

Re: Dungeon crawler (closed)
Most of what is now in Xanathar's came from UA they released over the last year or so, so just be careful of that and make sure you're using the XGE version.
The adventure will start following your theft of a highly valuable, but not very good painting and that, largely, is it.
I'm still reading thru the book now, but will have a couple of questions for you to answer once we get the starting party.
However, I have just discovered the following statement in the intro section to one area of the maze. If the content sounds like it will be a problem for anyone, post or PM me and it will be altered, no questions asked:

A major theme in this area is horrible creepy
nightmare plants and invasive body horror and
abusive relationships and parasitic seduction and
gross undead babies and whatnot and it should
go without saying that if you have players that are
likely to be upset by this, change it.

I haven't had good nightmare fodder in a while. Should be entertaining.

Re: Dungeon crawler (closed)
All right, here's our party:
NSF: Mountain Dwarf Fighter (battle master) Guild Artisan
Dusk: Deep Gnome Wizard (Illusion) Criminal
Lurks: Hill Dwarf Wizard [Needs a Background]
Spider: Air genasi rogue charlatan
M0rt: Air genasi cleric (life), Acolyte
Standard array for starting stats, then you're free to pick whatever you'd like.
In addition to the bond / flaw / trait / ideal, I'll need to know how each of you know each other (if it's from the theft, what were your roles in it?). I may also PM each of you a little bit of extra info before we get started.
Some other questions (which you can PM me the answers to if you prefer):
* How/why did you get involved in the theft?
* What was your role in the theft?
* During the theft, you considered betraying one of your associates. Why?
* One of your associates surprised you during the theft. What did they do?
* What is your biggest fear?
--------------------------------------------------------
The Setting
You have in some way been involved in the theft of a painting named "The False Chanterelle" for a collector. The painting is not considered very good or particularly interesting, but somehow still retains enough interest from collectors and galleries to keep its price high. Following the instructions given to you by your patron, you successfully obtained the artwork and hung it in an empty gallery to await collection. Light from the full moon spills through the window across the surface of the paint and the scene seems to come to life. You can't imagine why anyone would dismiss such a masterpiece as merely average!
Growing increasingly bored as you wait for your contact to show up, and increasingly curious about the strange painting, one of you reaches up and touches the surface of the paint...

Let's shift over to the OOC thread for the rest of the character creation now that recruitment is closed. You can find the opening (setting) post in the game thread if you need it.
