Turn 202
"Thank ye Destyn. I'm really sorry about the additional wait once again, but I promise there'll be no more distractions after this... Unless the demon himself starts breaking out of his cage, I guess. Must admit I'm not exactly happy a great hero such as you isn't interested in helping save the world, but I guess you've been waiting for a very long time... So get ready- Here it comes. Also, we might have a plan to use a magical machine on this guy- So if we start running to the right, you'll probably want to trail back a bit, unless the guy has it's eyes on you. Most important thing is you don't get caught in the ray as well, alright?"
"And who says I'm not saving the world? Who says I'm not preparing for a future threat that we know is coming while we still have time to prepare for it? Seriously. Have you not been listening to what my name is? Just because YOUR destiny is not MY destiny doesn't mean I am worth less than you!"
The golem creature stomps left and wanders straight into the tripwire trap. It bellows in rage as the wire cuts into its foot, but it looks like it's heavy enough to destroy the trap in the process!
Splits follows it into the left room.
Eaten uses the time to regain 1MP, and
Lurks and
Tugs stand ready to attack.
Burned and
Shell actually DO attack, backed up by a grumpy
Destyn. Together with the trap they manage to do a load of damage and this thing is looking pretty beaten up already!
With a huge roar, the golem fights back punching both
Burned and
Splits!
Splits takes 1 DAM, but
Burned is too damn tough for it to get through his defenses with just one blow.
In the light room,
Finds desperately tries to bind
Questions' wounds. As he touches him though, their shadows combine into the giant-sized version and it strikes
Questions, dealing a death blow.
As
Questions dies, the shadow once again shrinks back to the size of
Finds...

Well, shit.
For those wondering about the mechanics here, there was a 50% chance that Finds would succeed at his stabilising attempt and an equal chance of the shadow-monster attacking either goblin. The rolls came out as a failed stabilisation and the shadows attacked Questions. Since everything happens at once in combat (there's no initiative process), Finds got lucky.
I think it was essentially a case of which one of the two would die here or if it would be both - if Finds was targeted by the shadows, he would hit 0HP and be dying (unable to be saved). If Questions was hit, he'd be insta-dead. Even if Questions was stabilised, he would still be unable to act as he'd just be 0/5HP [stable], Finds would still die and Questions would probably be coup-de-grace'd by his own shadow next turn.
Ultimately it was going to be one or two deaths this turn, and the dice chose Questions. Sorry
I will give a cookie to anyone who remembered that Questions had a terrapin in his inventory this entire time though!
