Nope. Keep guessing. It made me groan when he told me the answer...more of a pun than a riddle, I guess...

A watchdog?
Had a look into my dictionary for clock, hour, and some other words, with watch I finally found something.

I think I prefer Davecom's mention of a tick, personally.

Meh, it's been long enough, first person to post can do the next riddle.

Alright then! This is probably a pretty well known one, but...
So! The riddle: What do many give, yet few take?

Advice
Though I'm more familiar with the form of this joke contrasting "a penny for your thoughts" with "putting your two cents in."

isn't it usually the other way around? People don't like to promote others, but they also want to produce more opportunities for themselves.

Yep. Riddle goes to you.

Well in the absence of a new riddle from TBF, I'll give one of my own:
My friend in front, a noise behind
Something else these things combined
In playing games, it fills a role
What is it, these things made whole?

Well, another name for friend is pal, and another name for a noise is a din, and if I put these together, I get the role, or class, paladin.

Correct! You'd be up next, assuming TBF is still deferring.

I used dict.cc to find something that rimes, I think the one which might fit best is "asterisk". Is that right?
In case of me being right here is a new one, since I posted a new one too slow last time:
► Show Spoiler
It is black when it's new, red while being used, white when with it you are through?

Then there is no missing word. Asterisk is there already.

Coal? Turf? Any black-colored fuel that burns with red flame and leaves ash behind.

Both of you are correct in a way, but the answer from the source is Nerre's, so it's his turn. In case you are confused about why this is the correct word, look up the synonyms for donkey.

Coal is correct too.
So Gamecreator can come up with a new one.
