Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
So is the other group ready to potentially throw that firebomb gem? If so, I might try the dissonant whispers thing now to have it move upside- If not, I'll just take out a twig blight this turn. Or try to, at least.

Nobody has frisked Randy yet that I'm aware of. He's still got the rock and he's still unconscious.

Yeaaaah... Also just figured that whole thing might be going into the meta territory, as I'm not sure how Ulmwin would be able to tell...

No one's even bothered to make sure he isn't dead or dying. I think you've gotten too accustomed to the blights going for KOs...

We also got two vine blights breathing down our neck, we have very little time to do any breaks.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Not criticizing. Just reminding folks that in order for you to throw the gem, you first have to go get it. Or revive Randy (provided he's still with us) and let him do it.Arch Lich Burns wrote:We also got two vine blights breathing down our neck, we have very little time to do any breaks.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Is taunting a thing in 5E?
The Vines can understand us, as they talk, so I'm thinking Coljin will attack it and try to take it's attention so Maji can heal or find the magic gem.
Is taunting just something I do by talking in 5E, or is it something you roll?
With my shield, I should have as high of an AC as Zephyr, so I should be fine......right....

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
There isn't really a mechanical way to just do it... there are a few class features and feats that allow something like that to be done. You're welcome to try to RP it, and if I think it warrants it, I may allow it to affect their behavior. You're probably lower down on the threat list than the guy who just turned its 'sibling' to ash though...

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Maybe intimidation is the closest? I THINK paladins / fighters might get an option for roughly that kind of thing at some point, but it's not really taunting as much as imposing disadvantage on enemies for targeting other allies.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Battle masters have the option to take Goading Strike, which is probably the closest, but ties the taunt to an attack.
Sentinel feat lets you punish enemies that target your friends, and grappling keeps them from getting away from you.
Intimidation I'd generally view as making them LESS likely to attack you, but yeah, you might be right that it's the closest... perhaps Performance to do some lewd dancing?

Wouldn't deception fit better? Your goal is to trick the enemy into attacking you, after all.

careful, we're getting closer and closer to some weird tentacle monster attacks...lewd dancing might entice them.

Perhaps... though a straight Charisma would cover those bases.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Yeah, intimidation isn't a great fit, I was just thinking it was a skill that someone who wants to get hit might have it could work in a "if you touch them I'll kill you" kind of way, but yes, I otherwise agree with deception / persuasion / performance as being thematically better.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Randy should of had 2, maji gave everybody but zephyr one and during this combat Maji gave him his last goodberry. Tess should have 3/4 of them due to giving her shortly before/after she fell unconcious on this level.

I'll assume it's Zephyr prone and not Rudy (as init chart suggests) due to the tree hit.

Will Holger get disadvantage if he casts fire bolt at the tree blight?

For being next to the twig blight, yes. It's prone, but not incapacitated.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
It not getting its ability back and attacking instead was bad for Maji, but probably good for the party... all 4 of the north crew would have had to avoid getting restrained by vines again, if you had, the tree would have had advantage on anyone it could reach...

I'm actually glad it didn't. I'm fine with being cannon fodder if that means we will get out of this place alive (well mostly)

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Well, with where you moved, the tree was coming for you next anyway... so probably better that the vine takes you down than be restrained and the tree having advantage... it's entirely possible for the tree to one shot somebody if it crits...
