((so using your full movement to keep up with them? That's fine)).

Syli then Kal are up. Everyone else has hurried off down the path, and the four lizards are watching closely.

((Yup, that's how it works... set a trigger, and if the trigger happens, you can do it then, or choose not to do it. DM's discretion if it is able to be used before the start of your turn if the trigger didn't happen. (Eg; I hold my longbow attack to shoot the goblin mage if he starts to cast something... if he doesn't start to cast anything, trigger didn't happen, so you could permit the held action to be use, or not) The additional wrinkle is that technically if you are readying a spell, it takes concentration as you begin casting it, but hold off finishing it, so in order to maintain Hex, Gwen wouldn't be able to hold an EB as a readied spell.))

((Yeah, it was something I wasn't aware of until relatively recently. Essentially readying a spell adds the concentration requirement to it... also the official mechanic on readying a spell using a spell slot is that the slot would be lost if the spell isn't cast by the start of your next turn... and you can't continue to hold concentration beyond that.))

Ah yeah that's right! I remember reading that last week or so.

Burns, if you'd like to change your action, you're welcome to do so, but you can't hold a readied spell and maintain he I'm afraid.

Cool stuff, done.

Since we're on a new page: Syli's up now, then Kal.

Syli glances between the lizards, then murmurs to Kal in Elvish, "I can get outta here faster than you guys. Go, get some distance, I'll keep 'em occupied" For the moment, Syli backs up about 15 feet...

Although she was rather wondering what the lizards were waiting for. For all their talk of food, they weren't acting all that aggressively...

EDIT: Changed slightly

((They're about 100ft of movement out, right? 60ft if they go through the pool... eh, I'll change that to backing up a little bit, but not as much as the others))

Syli backs away from the lizards about 15 feet and keeps watching them.

Kal uses his turn to move back 30 feet or so to the others and keeps a short ow attack readied in case the lizards get feisty... Which they do.

Seeing their prey beat a hasty retreat, the lizards grunt and charge after the group. The two on the right of the pond make it to Syli and are now in melee range of her. The other two make it easily through the pond without hindrance and haul themselves out on the near bank, about 10 feet from her. A fifth lizard bobs to the surface of the pond, looking curiously around at the commotion...

((Anyone who had a readied action an take it now. Because of the dense brush and Syli being in the way all targets have half cover to everyone except Syli, which gives them a +2 to their AC vs ranged attacks.))

Kal fires on the closest one, but his shot goes wide:
Shortbow attack: 1D20+1 = [9]+1 = 10

((Not sure if you're around wears, but I took the liberty of acting for Kal this turn in as sensible a way as I could see. Hope it's ok!))

Varsk will take his shot but I will do the rolls in about an hour if that works. Otherwise roll for him.

To move us along, I'll roll for Mehriv's Ray of Frost:

Ray of Frost: 1D20+5 = [20]+5 = 25

Ray of Frost: 2D8 = [7, 1] = 8

Both Varsk and Mehriv hit the lizard closest to Syli, doing a considerable amount of damage. The creature is still on its feet, but only just.

Korrik is up again

Gwen
Varsk
Mehriv
Syli

The rest of the group has come closer to you, to about 60-70 feet away. You can hear large animals crashing and splashing their way across to the group and can see Mehriv, Varsk and Kal attack something close to Syli.

Unfortunately, the dense forest and the crowd of big folk mostly block your view of exactly what is it that's coming your way.

Hop up and down, curse in Halfling, then I scurry 35 ft towards them, and into the vegetation, where I hide, two darts out.

Korrik pulls two darts from his pockets and hurries 25 feet forward towards his friends, before ducking just off the path and into the bushes to hide (he is now in difficult terrain; entering it cost you 10 feet).

From here, he catches a glimpse of two very large scaly, green-brown, four-legged lizards. One is bleeding badly, but the other seems perfectly healthy.

Gwen is up.

Gwen eldrich blasts the lizard and backs up!
Eldrich blast and hex: 1D20+6 = [4]+6 = 10
1D10 = [8] = 8
1D6 = [2] = 2

Karps!

Gwen scoots backwards, and blasts her spell at the lizard, missing its tough hide by inches...

Korrik sees Gwen hurrying back down the path. She is more or less next to his hiding place in the bushes, but she hasn't noticed him.

Varsk is up.

No, they're more like 40 and 45 feet. You moved 30 feet last turn, then Syli takes up about 5 feet and both lizards are further from you than Syli is.

You can move forward to get within 30 feet though.

Okay can Varsk instead move so they don't have cover?

Not really I'm afraid. You could go off the path into the trees difficult terrain), but the trees would block you about as much as your party members.

You could move all the way back up beside Syli if you wanted? That would put you in melee range of the injured one and one non-injured one. The other two would be about 10 feet away at that point.

I think Syli is the only one who saw the fifth lizard rise up out of the pond water...
