They've lowered their voices right about the same time as a parrot lands on a low branch near the guard post and starts squawking obnoxiously. It's quite distracting, but you could probably peg it. ...except... if you miss, you're probably going to hit the guard post and there doesn't seem to be a good way to get a clear shot from other directions...

Kal, having nothing better to do, listens intently from where he is.

Merric is clearly perfect in his articulation of the strange languages of the scaled ones... But given Korrik is so bad at listening it clearly messes something up
Merric intelligence: 1D20+1 = [3]+1 = 4
Finally able to use the ability properly and then the rolls screws us over

Varsk gives Mehr a slow nod.
"Fair enough."
When Syli and Gwen get back and Mehr suggests they move forward.
"Are we sure its forward and we haven't just missed it?"

Syli sighs, then returns to the group. "Okay, so I've got bad news. Far as I can tell, this 'pool' is nowhere in sight. Seeing how simplistic this 'map' is, I can't tell whether we're still on course, or if we've veered off. And if we have veered off, I can't tell whether we've gone too far, or not far enough."

"And? We followed the directions you had probably bout as well as we could. Do we just sit here now an' wait for another giant cat to show up? You don't have any way of contactin' them?"
Varsk is a little frustrated that the map was so...not good. Maybe a little disappointed no tree talking is happening.

((He is good or great at literally everything, might as well throw a hail Mary.))
Varsk rubs his eyes and looks around judging the lay of the land and if there are any signs of which way water flows regularly in this more dryish area.
"Ponds normally end up where there's a dip and the water runs. Based on that I'm gonna say we head that way."
Points in the indicated direction.
Perception and nature: 1D20+4 = [13]+4 = 17
1D20+3 = [19]+3 = 22
"'Cept I don't know how magic druid ponds form. Let's hope it ain't one of them."
Should the group decide to follow he will lead that direction.
To the (or at least a) pond: 1D20+2 = [17]+2 = 19
((Well that was productive, maybe. Messed up the survival roll, he only has +2 there not 3 like I put in Coyote.))

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
Druid team
Varsk gets fed up by the lack of druidic tree-talking, and decides to take matters into his own hands. Deciding that water typically flows downhill, and figuring that the group is still climbing, he leads the group onwards uphill for a little while until the land begins to flatten put a bit. The trees and still tall and crowded, but seem to be thinning out a bit. Occasional large, grey boulders lie scattered across the ground here, overgrown with lichens and plants mostly, though a few seem oddly shaped and remarkably clean.
There's still no sign of the pool that you're looking for, but there's slightly brighter sunlight towards the east... maybe the trees are thinning out a bit over there?
-------------------
Lizard Team
Merric tries to listen, but the parrot is truly obnoxious. Kal listens intently, and translates the following:
"No!! Lives are priced ((squark!!))! Recall!
"Drunk goat paid beautiful for a crown ((squwark!!))
who ate ((squark!!!!) of the true god."
"Die!!!"
"You're welcome. Fast!!"
He suspects something may be getting lost in Merric's interpretation of the conversation.

Mehriv looks at the boulders a bit more closely. They seem quite natural, large and round, and are unmarked in any obvious way, but they do seem to be arranged in a very rough line leading towards the south-southeast. He knows that some nature-focused religions used stones in their worship, but if this is designed, he can't guess what it's for.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
Varsk keeps heading for what is hopefully a shiny water surface.
He glances at the stones as he goes, more interested in a pattern. Is there a specific distance between them? Are they near a specific terrain feature? He gives one a half hearted push to see how firm it is in the ground rather than to move it.
Strength if needed: Rolling Stones: 1D20+4 = [5]+4 = 9
"Shiny means water or metal. Not a whole abyss of a lot of metal out here so that is probably water. If it ain't we can follow the rocks."
He scratches his increasingly thickly stubbled chin as he keeps moving,
"'Less it's some sorta druidy magic. That might be shiny."
