What is the glowing "H" ??
There is a strange "H" hovering over Forgath's new mace thing, but only when he is wearing the glove piece. It is visible in two different strips, so I tried to quickly re-scan through the topics of those strip threads, but didn't see anyone talking about them, or even mentioning their existence.
It appears at the end of this strip: http://www.goblinscomic.org/10092013/
...and again at the beginning of this strip: http://www.goblinscomic.org/10172013/
Since it spans two strips, I'm starting this new, separate thread (otherwise I'd have just asked in a single existing strip's thread).
My first reaction sent my mind to Red Dwarf (the Hologram), but now I'm wondering if that weapon was intended for a reality where MinMax and/or Forgath needs even weapons "labeled" with what goes where, etc...???
Thoughts?

I assumed it was an H for 'Herbert' which marked it as his holy symbol (Herbert being the DM-god).

Forgath explains in that very panel, that in gauntlet mode the handle/staff displays his holy symbol.stevedj wrote:It appears at the end of this strip: http://www.goblinscomic.org/10092013/

Re: What is the glowing "H" ??
He needs to see his holy symbol for certain magic castings (panel two)....
So, this glove is a most welcome tool, as his mace was destroyed by Psimax. Although the handle with the Holy Symbol is still intact, you can't use it as a weapon anymore...
btw: the Holy Symbol is not on the handle on the first page I found the underside of the mace handle...: http://www.goblinscomic.org/01202006/

I must say I really like the idea of a clerical mace that displays the holy symbol appropriate to the deity of the wielder - it strikes me as being a nice versatile touch in keeping with the idea that (in some versions of D&D) a suit of magical armour would automatically resize to be a fit for it's new owner
All hail the power of the stick!

Well now, how'd I miss that? I somehow don't remember seeing the "H" when first posted - could it have been added, or certainly enhanced, during final coloring/shading?gamecreator wrote:Forgath explains in that very panel, that in gauntlet mode the handle/staff displays his holy symbol.stevedj wrote:It appears at the end of this strip: http://www.goblinscomic.org/10092013/

So, does that mean he MUST wear the glove to expose his holy symbol for magic? Could that become a similar issue, at least in part, of "effort-consuming inaccessibility"?Krulle wrote:He needs to see his holy symbol for certain magic castings (panel two)....

Re: What is the glowing "H" ??
Well, he's still got the handle of his old mace with the symbol on the bottom of it. But that never seemed to be a huge issue for him before, since he regularly stored it in Minmax's backpack (It's Heavy!!).stevedj wrote:So, does that mean he MUST wear the glove to expose his holy symbol for magic? Although, come to think of it, this new weapon is bound to be even heavier, and I'm pretty sure it won't fit in a backpack.

Also an issue, Minmax has never worn a backpack. http://www.goblinscomic.org/02122013/Master TMO wrote:Although, come to think of it, this new weapon is bound to be even heavier, and I'm pretty sure it won't fit in a backpack.

That's why I didn't say in Minmax's backpack. Just, hypothetically speaking, if they were to have a backpack, it wouldn't fit.Davis8488 wrote:Also an issue, Minmax has never worn a backpack. http://www.goblinscomic.org/02122013/Master TMO wrote:Although, come to think of it, this new weapon is bound to be even heavier, and I'm pretty sure it won't fit in a backpack.
(Edit: Oh, I did say in Minmax's backpack. Nevermind. I edited my post to add the second line, and fixed the Minmax there, but not in the first line)

Re: What is the glowing "H" ??
It was only "Heavy" because that's its name! Though we haven't seen/heard this new weapon's official name, I'm sure Forgath would not have selected it if it was called something like "Heavier Hammer" (or, Heavier Hammace ).Master TMO wrote:Well, he's still got the handle of his old mace with the symbol on the bottom of it. The Hammace- Special weapon for clerics, or improvised recipe using pepper spray for seasoning?
You decide.
