If the ramp going down looks like it can be traversed safely without falling, I will go down and examine (but not touch) what looks like a red button on the floor.

William will immediately grab a skull, and see if he can pull out the post holding said skull. William will inspect the skull and stakes to see if they are just advertisements, booby trapped, or can be used as improptu weapons.

If they can be used as improptu weapons, he will take a skull and a stake, unless the troll below is helpful or advises that he does not want us to arm ourselves.

His final objective is to climb half of the ladder going up towards the rats...

Mines will examine the skulls and attempt to determine (in his very unprofessional opinion) if they're real and what species they came from. Seeing William grabbing one, he will whisper urgently to him:

"Look, I had the same thought, but I don't think we want to do that. We're trying to establish friendly relations here. Let's not antagonize the giant troll guard if we don't have to, you know?"

He will then turn around, lean over, and call down to the guard. Just in time, he will have an odd feeling that attempting to speak Troll did not go well in a previous life. That was a narrow Escape.

"Hello down there. Can you hear me? Nice skulls on a stick you've got here. My friend was just admiring them. Very atmospheric. Really sets the mood. Just classic. Drives home the point of your sign. And you, sir, are very intimidating. Well done. Excellent posture, I must say.

I just want to check that we're in the right place. Is this the lair of Thrug the Troll?

Walks waits for the results of all the other goblins' actions and then:
If the skulls are not booby trapped and the troll doesn't mind us taking them (or is hostile in any case), grab one skull. Examine the post/wall it has been attached to.
If the skulls are booby trapped and/or the troll does mind us taking them, examine the sign for any loose nails or whatever. Try to remove it (the nail, part of the sign or the whole sign, as applicable) and hold onto it for later use as impromptu weapon.
Examine the torches from where she is, whether they seem to be removable and/or if they burn with real fire.
If the troll is willing to talk, ask for direction to Thrug.

Superseding any other conditionals (safe getting a weapon first, if fighting is a go and any weapons are available): If any goblin gets attacked/hurt, help them by either fighting the hostile(s) and/or getting them out of the danger zone and/or applying first aid, if feasible. Try to stay as safe as possible oneself, while doing so.

William will poke at the skulls and think they might make good weapons. After listening to the response of the Troll below to Mines he will follow on.
1- If this is the right lair: I have a Message for Thurg the Troll he will proceede down the ramp and ask the troll guard. "Where can I find Thurg the Troll
2- If this is not the right lair (or the guard says nothing) I have a Message for Thurg the Troll, if you tell me where he is we will get out of your hair man, if you had hair...

"I have a Message for Thurg the Troll"
"WHAT? BREK CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

William heads down the ramp and tries again,

"Where can I find Thurg the Troll?"
"BREK HAS HEARING CONDITION! BREK CAN'T HEAR YOU UNLESS YOU COME OVER HERE!"

Odd Duck wanders down the ramp to check out the red button at the bottom next to those eight suspicious-looking holes. It is definitely a button. A very pressable, big, red button.

Walks takes a skull with absolutely no dire consequences and finds it has been placed on a sturdy, pointed stick. The torches look like regular torches, but they're far our of reach from where she is standing now.

Walks pockets the skull and picks up the pointy stick as well.

"Anyone want to help me reach one of the torches? We could try make a goblin pyramid or something. It's always handy to have a source of light." Walks moves down about half the ramp (below the leftmost torch) and stands ready to help anyone willing to do so up to stand on her shoulders.

I will go back up to one of the sturdy sticks that has a skull on it, if possible, if not, I will just grab the skull, and then I will go to the ladder and begin climbing up to the rats.

[Cuz I aint touching that button and getting gutted like a pig]

Mines will go down the hill, and, for no apparent reason, climb the ladder towards the mice.

William will go over towards Brek, carefully not stepping on the red button and staying out of axe reach also.
"I was saying, I have a message for Thurg where can I find him?"

"Anyone want to help me reach one of the torches? We could try make a goblin pyramid or something. It's always handy to have a source of light."

Walks grabs the pointy stick and stands under the lefthand torch, hoping for a spot of spontaneous goblin tower-building, but it doesn't happen.

William hops over the ever-so-tempting big, red button and goes to speak to the troll guard.

"I was saying, I have a message for Thurg where can I find him?"
"OH! WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY DO? THURG IS INSIDE OUR LAIR, JUST BEHIND THIS DOOR."
"Ok. Can I go in?"
"AFRAID NOT GOBLIN! NO-ONE CAN GO IN OR OUT OF OUR LAIR UNTIL WE HAVE DEALT WITH THE GNOME THIEVES THAT HAVE BEEN STEALING OUR UNDERPANTS. WE'RE UNDER TOTAL LOCKDOWN! SORRY!"

Odd grabs a skull-on-a-stick and climbs up the ladder to the platform with the rats alongside Mines. The rats swarm both of them and do 1DAM to each of them.

Oops. Missed seeing the Odd was going up the ladder, too.

Doesn't look like we'll be able to reach the torches, by the height scale.

What do you say, Odd? Fight the rat swarm and hope there's something worthwhile in those chests? Or retreat and see what's down the newly revealed lower ladder?

I will stab a rat until dead and then move to the next until they are gone. Then he will open a box.

Fair enough. I'll give you a hand. Or maybe a foot. We'll see how it goes. I attack the rats with fists and feet and my heretofore unknown martial arts skills.

Walks will climb up the ladder, too, and help the two goblins in peril. Either by attacking a rat with her pointy stick (preferably a rat that already got hurt, but is not dead yet), if there is room on the platform for her still, or by passing her stick to Mines, if there isn't.
In any case she encourages William to: "Ask Brek what the button does, please!"

"So someone has to go capture the gnome who is stealing your underpants before I can talk to Thug...great..."
IF ONLY IT WAS THAT SIMPLE! IT'S NOT JUST ONE OF THEM, IT'S ALL OF THEM DOING IT. SO UNTIL WE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM, THE DOORS ARE STAYING LOCKED.
"Ask Brek what the button does, please!"
"WHAT????"

While William continues to talk to Brek, the others climb up to the ledge and start murdering rats. The rats attack Walks and Mines, doing 1DAM to each of them, but the goblins manage to kill one rat with their pointy sticks! Hooray! Only three rats left!

"Ow!" Walks continues to stab rats with her pointy stick, as before: preferable one that already got hurt, but isn't dead yet.
If she can safely do so (i.e. not provoke some extra attack of opportunity or whatever), she picks up the rat corpse for later use.

[Edit: I noticed that the skull on the top of the stick and my necklace are missing. Neither are important really, I just mentioned it in case it was something you overlooked.]

I will continue with the last action: attack rats until dead, and then open the top box.

Mines does the math. He has no pointy stick, and he's losing HP faster than rats are dying. He climbs back down the ladder.

Cool - wasn't sure you still wanted a necklace, and you can't use the pointy stick as a weapon while the skull's on it. You do have the skull in your inventory though.

Ok. I wasn't sure if it was like a spear-mace or what. Thx.

Also, by way of IC if rats try to attack mines as he leaves I will try to intercept them.

Hey folks, I know a lot of us are still on holiday-time, but if I can I'd like to get this game updated once-a-day to keep it moving. So if that works for you guys I'll start on a daily schedule from Monday 6th.

If thats' too much, I can keep to the Mon-Wed-Fri/Sat schedule, but that's probably going to feel a bit slow :)

Weekdays should work for me...just yesterday I was everywhere but near a computer...

William will point to the button and ask. "I assume that button in the floor is some kind of anti-gnome trap correct?"
