Does anyone know any decent books on Time Travel? It's not exactly my pair of shoes, but I'm thinking about finding something for a gift, and I know that person likes that topic :P

Timemaster by Robert L. Forward. Hard Scifi. See you start by discovering negative matter... No, it is not antimatter, and yes it is theoreticaly possible. One great scene in the book has 3 different ages of the same character meeting, in space of course. IIRC, there are technical drawings in the back.

Then you have the Paratime stories by H Beam Piper. The Complete Paratime probably has it all. Though his version involves sideways travel through time, so it is more like dimension hopping than what we think of as time travel. Still, it is good stuff. Much of the stories are available at places like gutenberg, for free.

1632 by Eric Flint starts with 1 instance of time travel, taking an entire West Virginia town back to 1632 in Europe. The seires continues with other authors continuing bits of the story. Much of it is free at Baen.

The Cross Time Engineer by Leo Frankowski starts an interesting series with an engineer transported back to Poland just a few years before the Huns invade. Whatever will he do?

Not really straight up Sci Fi but "The Time Traveler's Wife" was a book I bought for my wife. It's more emotionally charged story of a woman who marrys a man that can't control his unfortunate curse of traveling back and forward in time. It is heart wrenching but well written. I'd put it closer in category to "Lovely Bones" than that of the classic "Time Machine", but it involves time travel in a different perspective than science fiction which is pretty cool.

If anyone ever still looks at this thread...
You might try "Star Trek : Department of Temporal Investigations: Watching the Clock".
Best time travel story I've ever read...the second time. The first time I was so confused about what the heck was going on I totally missed the actual main plot until better than half way through the novel. It's so subtle for the first half that even the second time through, knowing what was going on, it was still nearly impossible to catch. :wall:
