City Building/Defense 3.5e

Post by WhirdCheese » Wed May 22, 2013 10:31 pm

In this game you will play as nobles or trusted members of the king's court that the king has sent along with the expeditionary force in an attempt to establish a new city. You personally are going on the off chance that you can become Duke of this new territory.

All players start as a level 2 NPC class (Commoner, Warrior, Adept, Aristocrat)
You can each bring personal items totaling to 2d4x10
Additional materials can be found near the new city.
Game turns amount to one week game time
This will have a running time of at least 48 turns most likely more, based on various factors.

Combat
As the town gets established it is possible to attract the attention of various races of evil humanoids. When this happens all peasants that are armed will flock to the banner of the one who they feel will lead them in battle the best. This does have something to do with popular opinion, but those who play commoners or Aristocrats will likely have fewer people behind them. Everyone in your group follows you and will not split from you unless you make many bad calls or you get really unlucky.
All commoners who can reach the enemy will attack. Though I'll roll anything that isn't your character.

Resources
Food: Lots is necessary as every single unit in the city needs one every turn or they will die.
Wood: Used in a lot of crafts. Most buildings need this primarily
Stone/Iron: Interchangeable used in most weapons. Armor is exclusively Armor. There is no such thing as Stone Armor. Stone can be used in advanced buildings whereas Iron cannot.

Start Zones (Vote)
Forest (High Wood/Food, Low Stone/Iron)
Mountain (High Stone/Iron, Low Wood/Food)
Desert (Low everything)

Please stick to the SRD for feats and equipment.

Also not uninterested. Pointbuy ? And will you roll, or do we (Starting Money, Hitpoints, future rolls...? ;) )

And, will we STAY with NPC Classes or should I plan ahead with the Character somewhen possibly "changing" to Adventurer classes ?

Also... Races ? Humans only ?

Sounds interesting.
Is there a reason for why the expert npc class isn't mentioned?

32 point buy for stats

Use invisible castle for rolls

It is possible to get a PC class but very unlikely. You'll need to survive a dungeon crawl to.

Humans only.

Because I forgot that there were five NPC classes. Editing now

As I already played Desert to an excess in the Civ-Game and like differences, I am voting for forrest. Hey, maybe we'll see Elves... ;)

Hrrrm... A 3.5 game, and I can't play an arcane caster, meh... Also not the Half-elven Bastard I had in mind... Oh well, stick to the roots then.

Also, just for Completenss... I assume Flaws are not allowed (They are in the SRD but I generally consider them cheesy).

Edit :

God, it never occured to me how few 40 GP are. Not even a studded leather Armor. And 2 GP for a backpack are a real liability... With 60 I would have got everything I wanted. A cool aristocrat, I am. :D Ah screw it...

You said, additional materials are avaiable... What kind of equipment can we assume will be avaiable ?

Tools ? Basic Equipment (Bedroll, Flint & Steel, Backpack, etc.) ? Nothing at all, only "Trees and animals and stones or sand, you know..." ? ;)

Basic tools are available through requisition. If you need a tool for crafting assume you have it. Crafting materials... Once I have people finishing their characters I'll post a list of items as well as the favor it will cost you.

No flaws. Just...no.

I'm interested. I'm gonna go with a warrior class. I'll be the gruff military guy people turn to when the monsters show up, hehe.

My vote for starting area is for forest.

What's Invisible castle?

Invisible Castle is an online Random number generator. It's fairly intuitive, and contains directions the entire way.

Roll every level. Also if you scroll down and copy the BBCode yellowish text you can have the results in the post like so. 4=, 4=.

Also please roll 1d4 twice or 2d4 once instead of rolling 4.

I did what it said. I put in 2 as the number of dice and 4 as the dice size...

Edit: And my health rolls are almost perfect!

1d8=7, 1d8=8

Thank you Random number gods!

Hmm, Can I pick skill focus (craft) or does it have to be more specific?

I'm pretty sure you have to pick a specific craft. The same goes for Skill Focus (Knowledge) or Skill Focus (performance) or Skill Focus (profession).

Bob please reroll your health. Just copy this into the roll box

1d6; 1d6

For everyone: Invisible castle requires that you put in the number of dice to be rolled then a d then the size of said dice. Such as #dS+a

Also, please include something in the name slot. If it seems like one of you is cheating I will PM you. If it continues you will be culled.

My roll for both hp and gold (please disregard the extra d4 rolled.. I remembered incorrectly how much gold we started with.)
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4063478/

I'm not completely finished with the equipment list as I wanted to hear if it was okay if I crafted my own gear (and which tools I can craft) if I could handle it by taking 10 on the rolls to craft it and if I could use some of the tools for multiple crafts (like armor smithing and blacksmithing)
