Sidus Diabola - SciFi Survival Horror (Recruiting)

Post by BeanDip » Tue Jun 18, 2013 9:04 pm

WELCOME TO DIABOLA

It is the far future. The earth is overpopulated and running desperately low on resources. The crime rate has risen tremendously with violent crimes and theft being particularly common as people have to go outside the law just to survive. With no more space to house them in the already overbloated prison system, a project is undertaken by the United Alliance of Earth.

Sidus Diabola is a massive prison station orbiting earth. It houses millions of inmates and staff alike from all over the world. Though officially designated a success by the UAE, things are about to get darker on Diabola.

During the offloading of a new shuttle of inmates, all power to Diabola goes offline. It only takes two minutes for the back-up generator to come online but by then itÔÇÖs too late. The riots have started in every corner of the ship and every radio signal to or from the ship is being intercepted and severed. Can you escape or get a rescue signal out in time?

Name - Martin "The Martian" Smith
Age - 36
Gender - Male

Occupation - Shuttle pilot

Appearance - Martin is a lean Caucasian man of average height, with wavy black hair and deep blue eyes. Having to work near constantly, faint dark circles are beginning to appear beneath his eyes, as a result of sleep deprivation.

Personality - Martin has a very light-hearted approach to life, and has found he can make jokes and point out positives, even in the darkest situation. He strives to keep others calm, even when he is not so, and can become irritable when someone tries to bring down the mood.

Skills and Weaknesses - Martin is skilled in piloting shuttles and other space craft used as part of the Diabolus system, but unfortunately for him, he is incapable of being accurate with his hands without his medication, which he was due to receive another bottle of today, after he ran out, but it seems that is not forthcoming.
Strength: Capable of piloting
Weakness: shakes constantly without medication

History - Martin, as a child, always wanted to leave the Earth behind, and make a new home on another world. His friends always laughed at his dream, calling him "Martian" because of it, but his good humour kept him in high spirits in the face of these playful jokes. Holding fast to his hopes, Martin lead an altogether uneventful life, with the high points of his life being accepted for training as a pilot of the ships and shuttles launched into space, and being accepted to work on Sidus Diabola as what many civilians called a ferryman, bringing cargo and prisoners to and from the station. Unfortunately for Martin, despite his light-hearted approach to life, to near constant screams of pain and anger when he ferried prisoners to the station was more than he could handle, resulting in constantly being nervous, and an uncontrollable shaking in his hands and arms, making it impossible to continue his work safely, and he was relieved of his work until he could find a way to calm the shaking. After a time, Martin was prescribed with a medication which could calm his nerves, with no noticeable side effects, and he soon went back to work. Life continued normally for Martin, until the chaos started.

I would be, but I think this is one game too many right now. I'm in for your next one still, but not this one. Sorry.

Interesting, though I don't want to split my attention any more than I already have. Between writing for my game, rewriting it for the mini novel, writing my Drask novel and writing comic script i'm stretched thin atm xD Maybe later on!

I'm really interested, I love freeform and the other survival horror game I was in has faded away.

I'll edit in a character application when I'm not on a cellphone.

Name: Cosmo Allister
Age: 35
Gender: male

Occupation: Member of the Repairman crew. On a normal day, Cosmo crouches through the supply tunnels of the station, repairing whatever is broken, or he climbs high on the large recycler machines, which create new oxygen out of the old air and which split the sewage and trash into the different elements and molecules, so they can be reused to create food, cloothing and much more again. On a good day, he even get's to wear a space suit to repair the outer plating of the station, the meteor shield or some antennas. But this is neither a normal nor a good day, it is the worst day ever. He just arrived at a data panel in maintenance tunnel 240-B, when suddenly all lights went out. Annoyed, he turns on his helmet lamp and tries to find out what happened.

Appearance: A short but though and strong guy, he was born to crouch through narrow places and climb around with all his tools. Most of the time he is wearing one of those sturdy tech ovealls, a helmet and his tool backpack. After the first our of his shifts, he normaly is already pretty dirty, depending on the task he gets. When his helmet is of, you can see his shaved head. He says he does it cause it is easier to maintain than hair. He looks much younger than he actually is for this lack of hair and facial hair.

Personality: His personality is most of the times rather gloomy, at least when he is working alone. When they get a greater task and the maintenance crew has to team up to solve it, he enjoys having some company. Then he is a rather happy, but stil silent person. He is down-to-earth and does not care much about what the prisoners have done, it is not his job to think about that. He only has to help to make sure everythink works good enough to keep them in. He dreams about one day buying a brand new freight ship. Not that he wants to be it's captain, but owning one would be pretty cool. He would prefer being the machinist and work with the fine high tech that comes with such ships. Not like the out-dated crap they are using in here for most things. He is not a person you would count on to keep a promissed, until it is a promisse he will repair or install something.

Skills and Weaknesses: He knows how to repair and operate things, he knows a good portion of widespread and up to date science, and actually is kind of unchallenged with the outdated machines and equipment the prison is using. But he does not know what to say and do with other people around. He knows it is something good and enjoys it, but talking to them, well, that is very different. Around people, he is rather like a dog. Except when they are working together, cause then they know what to expect of each other. He can do space walks in a suit, he can climb on the rigs in the large factory or recycling arrays and has no fear of height, depth, darkness and the void outside the station. But he got no real other talent above that. He could build and repair a weapon and maybe would even have a good chance to hit a target, but he is no fighter. He also is no medic, since the bots and nanoids do most of the job whenever somebody gets hurt. Same about food. It is something which comes out of an replicator, and he could program the perfect, balanced meal for you. But it wouldn't taste good, it would only contain everything you need. If you would put him back in the stone age, he would starve cause he could not hunt if his life depends on it, but invent the wheel, fire and bow on his first day.
He is not very diplomatic and does not give much about rank or etiquette. If something is to be said, he says it. He does not care much about other peoples feelings, since he is not good in reading them.

History: Cosmo was always good in the scientific classes, but not in the social ones. He had never many friends, but at least he was sporty. He had two sisters and a larger brother, but he kind of lost contact to them. His dad died young, so his male father figure was his uncle, who worked at a glider (flying car) repair station. They young boy grew fond of the tech and machines, and came here often for fun, later to earn a few dollars.
He finished school early to study space engineering, and after that he worked on several old freight ships. He just kept earning money, and while he was able to live well together with other people, he did not care much about them. They had to be there, so they were. Nothing more about it. Sports was the only thing you could get him to join out of duty. After a while a freighter delivered supplies to the prison, and he heared from a worker on the cargo bay that they station is hiring qualified personal for the maintenace crew, and that they pay very good. Not only cause of the dirt and huge amount of work, but also cause of the risk that comes with such a place. Not man people wanted to work here, so you had to lure those who would with a bit more money. He didn't mind it and since the money was fine, he stayed on the station and said goodbye to his former crew. It did not take long and he had five other crew members working under his command, but he was not good in commanding them, so he only handed them the tasks and they kind of commanded themselves, what most of them actually enjoyed. Only this new guy, what was his name? Ralph. He kept walking after Cosmo all the time and asked stupid questions, ony somebody should know the answers to when he started working her. Most of the time the therefore did pair him up with Arnold, a large and rough guy, but very amiable. He liked having somebody to talke. While Cosmo did only what had to be done outside of his job and sports, he went to his limits to push himself further all the time when he was doing his job or sports.

This sounds very cool! I'm in! :)

Name - Eva Hunt
Age - 26
Gender - F

Occupation - Trainee Medic. Eva has studied emergency medicine for the last five years and has just started her second junior training rotation at the prison where she was hoping to gain experience working in a high-pressure environment with 'difficult' patients.

Appearance - Athletic and fit, like many young medics she cares about her own health. She is fairly tall (5'8" or so) with dark hair which she usually ties back in a ponytail for work, and she wears contact lenses. While working, she wears no jewellery or make-up (for safety) and wears her obligatory green medic jumpsuit with a white cross on the back. It's a practical uniform with plenty of pockets but hardly subtle.

Personality - Practical and smart, Eva likes to get things done and cannot stand indecision. She is good at her job, but is terrified of screwing up which means she often comes across as cold and aloof. She is almost constantly stressed, but is getting used to working REALLY long hours and surviving on energy bars and coffee. On the other hand, she cares deeply about her work and her patients and takes her responsibilities to them very seriously.

Skills and Weaknesses - Eva has learned some basic self-defence as a requirement of her posting to the prison colony and is qualified as a junior medic, though she has had relatively little hands-on experience and has not yet worked without supervision of a superior. She is good at doing what she knows, and will take charge of chaotic situations if need be. Outside of the medical field she is almost completely out of her depth and has very little practical knowledge of much else (e.g. engineering etc.)

History - Eva is one of those annoying smart people who never seems to struggle with anything, though this is driven more through a fear of failure than anything else. Raised by her parents in a happy family with two older brothers, Eva was expected to do achieve great things. Both her parents were prominent in their fields of expertise (engineering and law respectively) and her brothers were similarly gifted. The eldest (Eric) was recently accepted to begin training at [NASA] (or equivalent agency) to become a flight commander and the younger (James) is currently studying particle physics. Never a girl with many friends, Eva has instead focused on being the best at whatever it is she is doing. It was a hard blow when she only came third in her class studying medicine. Still, third out of 250 people is good enough to get you pretty much whatever placements you want, and after spending 6 months in an emergency & trauma centre in her home town, she passed the physical exams to complete her placement year in Sidus Diabola - a place considered one of the most challenging places to work. Eva has a chip on her shoulder and everything to prove in this place. She is here to work and learn, not to make friends.

Oh, question: Does the station have some form of localised gravity, or is it zero-G?

Alright, here's what I've got.

Name - Felix Tyler Moss
Age - 29
Gender - Female

Occupation - Pharmacist. Felix spends most of her time prescribing methadone and other drug replacements to the inmates, making sure their dosages are correct and cleaning them up when they manage to get hold of any of Diabola's smuggled-in supply and mess themselves up. She is a trained pharmacist so she is also called on for more routine prescription medicines, but the majority of the work she does is with the prison's drug addicts.

Appearance - Felix is often mistaken for a man before people meet her, because of her typically-male name. She's then usually mistaken for a boy when they DO meet her, something that suits her just fine. She has short-cropped dirty blonde hair, twinkly brown eyes, a wiry frame with not much to speak of in the way of hips or boobs, and pixie like facial features with a wonky nose. She's average height and weight, but a lot of her weight comes from muscle - she's thin-looking but there's a lot of mass there.

Personality - She's a cheerful sort, despite the hassle her job often causes and other people's moodswings that she invariably has to deal with. She's friendly but will take no nonsense from anyone, and deals with people going cold turkey or already off their heads on whatever they managed to get hold of with the same smiling face and firm demeanor. She likes her job, and gets on well with most of her colleagues. The majority of her "regular customers" seem to respect her consistent approach. She sought out her job on Diabola as a way to leave behind her life on Earth, and she does not take her assigned leave days back on the planet.

Skills and Weaknesses - Chemistry is her forte, she gained a degree in it before moving on to specialise in pharmaceuticals. She keeps herself fit and busy by playing sports and is particularly good at basketball despite being rather short, and she is often found in the weights room keeping her strength up against the prison's not-quite-natural gravity. She is a keen chess-player. She knows very little about today's Earth, as she hasn't been back and doesn't care to keep up with the news, instead only reading science journals and research papers to keep up with new medical developments. She has a soft spot for addicted inmates who seem truly repentant, and although she's never crossed the line into inappropriate behaviour, she does do her best to make their rehab as smooth as possible. Felix is divorced, and her ex-wife is a particularly sore subject, it is one of the few topics that will elicit an emotional response from the normally calm and unflappable woman - and she doesn't talk about her other family at all.

History - Felix had an uneventful life up until her mid teens, when her mother's casual habits turned into more serious habits. Maria Moss eventually died of an overdose, but not before she'd sold nearly everything the family owned to fund her addiction. While Felix buried her issues and threw herself into her studies, her brother dealt with things differently and ended up in and out of local prison for petty crimes. Her father kept things together as best as he could but their relationship never really recovered - Felix spent all her time studying, focusing on chemistry and pharmacy for obvious reasons. She met her ex-wife Gail while studying for her PHD, only to get divorced within six months of their marriage when Felix found out that Gail was using drugs to cope with her heavy workload. She applied for her job on Diabola before the papers were even signed and has not been back. Very few people on the prison station know (or would even guess) that the happy, friendly woman they see dealing with addicts, dealers and pushers has a story like this, but those who do know quietly wonder to themselves whether one day it'll all get too much for her and she'll snap.

(...drama  )

Name - Arnold "Big Mike" Zack
Age -30
Gender - Male

Occupation - Plumber/Waste Reclamation Professional

Appearance - 6'0", 200 lbs, short (buzzed) brown hair, grey eyes, pale skin, wears glasses. Fit and muscled but not like a bodybuilder, it comes from the nature of his work. Physical labor and all that.

Personality - Easy going, Likes to joke about how no one ever thinks about a plumber in space until their toilet is clogged and the gravity cuts out, or how you're not the first person to drink that water. But he can be serious, when the situation calls for it. He startles easily, but once the initial shock is over he gets over it quickly. He can be slow on the uptake, he's usually the last one to get a joke. But he gets there, eventually.

Skills and Weaknesses - Good with a wrench. All of his tools really, and he can build a water filtration system from scratch in a few hours. And he's somewhat familiar with the guts of the station, having replaced quite a few pipes. He's nearsighted, things start getting fuzzy at about arm's length, gets hard to make out people's faces at about 8 yards, ect. Even after all his time on the prison, he still sometimes gets turned around, but now he only gets lost once every week or two, so it's getting better. Has a problem with bugs.

History - Arnold wasn't to good at school, he was smart but didn't care about "useless paperwork" and hated having to do homework. He played on his high school baseball team, but wasn't good enough to get a scholarship (He was a good batter, but couldn't catch or throw to save his life) so he ended up going into the family business. He didn't get along with his father and two brothers, so after his apprenticeship ended, he left home and struck out on his own. After a few years, he was starting to think that being a plumber wasn't nearly as rewarding as it looked in the movies( ;) ) and he was considering a career change. And dreading it, he had spent years learning how to tighten a pipe connection, and which kind of wrench to use, and lots of other things that didn't really make that much of a difference in the end. Then he saw an ad for workers needed for the space prison, and he began thinking about the horror of a toilet backup in 0g, "stuff" floating freely, or purifiers not purifying correctly, and he knew he found his calling. And if it got him away from his family (and that spider nest from the Smith job) all the better. He's been on the station for almost a year now, and he's finally starting to really learn his way around.

*throws hat into ring*

Name - Miles Avery Garrius
Age - 20
Gender - Male

Occupation - Junior Computer Technician (and Hacker). Miles is incredibly talented at manipulating and repairing computers, which is why he was able to land a job repairing and maintaining the computers systems onboard the station (that, and his father is one of the techs on Cybersecurity and was able to pull a few strings). He's worked hard and earned a good reputation for himself over the past year. However, during his downtime, he's also been quietly delving undetected into various systems, out of both curiosity and for his own amusement.

Appearance - 5'3'', 140lbs, fair complexion, shoulder-length blond hair, piercing blue eyes, clean-shaven. Wears horned-rimmed glasses, khaki cargo shorts, a white t-shirt with a chest pocket, and sneakers. He also wears lightweight non-conductive gloves when working on the insides of a computer or system. Has a rather lean (but not scrawny) build, and gentle physical features. The word "cute" tends to get thrown around a bit when describing him; his short stature and happy-go-lucky attitude tends to make people think he's younger than he actually is.

Personality - Tends to be shy and optimistic (to the point of being occasionally naive). A generally kind and friendly soul, he dislikes violence and confrontation (although not to the point of pacifism); for this reason, he tends to avoid work that brings him in contact with the prisoners whenever he can help it. However, he also tends to be overly curious, which occasionally leads him into doing things he really shouldn't (like hacking into Diabola's network and computer systems); he's also extremely intelligent, which occasionally manifests as moments of remarkable shrewdness and cunning when the need arises.

Skills - Miles is a computer savant, showing remarkable talent when it comes to building, utilizing, repairing, and subverting computers and computerized systems. Deriving from this, he also has considerable talent working with, building, and repairing electronic devices and equipment, and has some talent with robots as well. He does have some basic mechanical know-how, but is not nearly as capable as a trained mechanic or engineer. Finally, he took a basic self-defense course before arriving on the station, at his mother's insistence.

Weaknesses - Miles is farsighted, needing corrective lenses in order to read or make out detail up-close. He also has Nyctophobia and is Claustrophobic, and is prone to having panic attacks when in dark and/or cramped places for extended periods of time; as such, he does his best to avoid such places unless absolutely necessary. His desire to avoid conflict can also result in him backing down from a fight even when he shouldn't, unless it's something that severely clashes with his own moral code/conscience.

History - It was quite apparent from a young age that Miles was extremely intelligent. The youngest of cybersecurity consultant Avery Garrius's three sons and daughter, he picked up on and learned things incredibly fast, taking after his father and picking up a knack for computers and programming. He rapidly shot through his early education, but wound up getting expelled from school after hacking the records of some bullies that had been antagonizing him (this was in lieu of criminal charges being pressed). He was left to finish his schooling via online courses at home, but still graduated from college at 19. A mere month afterward, his father was hired for a contract aboard the newly-commissioned Sidus Diabola, replacing a technician on the Diabola that had died under undisclosed circumstances.

The giant prison star was one of the largest technological marvels in recent history, and while the thought of being on a heaven-held prison wasn't exactly comforting, Miles knew it was an opportunity that wouldn't come twice. He went to his father, asking whether he could come with and learn under him; and while it took some convincing, Avery eventually agreed to apprentice him on-board the station. It was a decision his mother Yvonne was none-too-happy about; a former bounty hunter, she knew the kind of scum that'd be on the station, and while she failed to shout down his father regarding Miles going up to the station, she did force him to condition it on Miles learning self-defense, something which the normally-passive Miles was rather unhappy about, but nevertheless followed through with.

For the most part, his stay on the Diabola was uneventful. He made sure to stay away from the prisoners, preferring to practice his skills and tutor under his father. After a few months, he managed to get the prison to hire him on as a faculty member, a junior computer tech that handled day-to-day hardware and software maintenance. For the most part, he hadn't really socialized with anyone else on the station; if you asked those who saw him around or worked with him, they'd say he was a shy, friendly introvert. However, sometimes at night (or, rather, what passed for night on the station), his curiosity would drive him to delve into Diabola's networks and systems through a backdoor in the security software, pulling up random files, monitoring network and communications traffic, or just delving into the code behind the computer systems.

Two days ago, Avery was abruptly called away from the station, for reasons unknown to Miles; he took it in stride, but couldn't help but wonder why his father had left so suddenly, and when he'd be coming back. Little did he know, he was about to have much bigger problems to worry about...

Okay, got a couple questions.

1 - How long has Sidus Diabola been running? Six months? A year? Five years? It's mostly so I can get the timeframe of Miles' backstory correct.

2 - Do our characters start with any items? I'm presuming weapons (other than perhaps what can be improvised into a weapon, like a large wrench or a mop) and a lifetime supply of band-aids are off-limits, but what about toolkits and such? Or sentimental items?

1 - Diabola has been running for about two years when the game begins and everything goes wrong. Construction began long before that but its only been functioning for two years.

2 - When the game begins, your characters will be inside a break room on lunch break, coffee break or what have you. You'll have what you brought with on break or what you always have on you. So items like a book or magazine, a pager or phone or anything like that. Likewise sentimental objects that you always carry with you like a locket or something is okay as well. So a surgeon wouldn't have her medical supplies for instance but would have a pager that communicates with the medbay.

Not sure if it's a good idea, but I'll join as well.

Name - Alan Faulkner
Age - 22
Gender - male

Occupation - Logistics Department

Appearance - 6'0", 200 lbs, slightly shorter than shoulder length brown hair, short scraggly beard, grey eyes, wears glasses, wears mostly t-shirts and jeans (always black)

Personality - Some people might call Alan brilliant or full of potential, but he himself does not see this. Alan has a very low opinion of himself and his skills. While in truth he does have considerable talent, he is also incredibly lazy and dislikes studying/training. He enjoys being around other people, but people he does not know and situations he is unfamiliar with make him nervous and his social skills are a bit lacking. Alan is pretty smart and it shows in his speech and mannerisms. He is mostly very calm but if pushed can get very angry. He has acrophobia and is slighly afraid of the dark. Physically he is reasonably fit, but his stamina is very low. He tends to avoid conflict but will not hesitate if attacked. He is careful and tends to avoid taking risks.

Skills - Alan is pretty talented in almost any field, but his lazyness prevents him learning much more than the basics and really excelling. He has done almost everything at least once, and will probably do equally well with a computer or a wrench. He does not have any traing in self-defense however. He is intelligent and can figure things out very quickly.

Weaknesses - He is very nearsighted and without his glasses everything more than an arms length away is very fuzzy( reading becomes pretty much impossible, faces are difficult to see, bigger things can still be seen reasonably well to about 5 meters). He is socially a bit awkward and often comes of as arrogant and indifferent. He is easily discouraged and frustrated by his failures.

History - Alan was always very smart and early on had no trouble in school, which led to his lazyness as he never saw the necessity of studying. He was a loner for most of his time as he was very reclusive and socially awkward. His lazyness later caught up with him and he flunked out of high school. He tried lots of different jobs, but was never really sucessful -mostly because of lazyness- and soon either quit or was discharged. As a result he became a bit disillusioned and bitter. When he saw the ad for work on Sidus Diabola he saw it as pretty much his last chance and has put considerably more effort in the job this time. He has not been on his new job for long and hopes that he will make it this time.

Re: Sidus Diabola - SciFi Survival Horror (Recruiting)

Post by T-RexWithTourettes » Sat Jun 22, 2013 9:41 pm

Survival horror IN SPACE?? And no complicated rules?! I told myself I would never join a game, but, for better or worse, I am so in!

Name -Joel Cauley
Age - 29
Gender - Male

Occupation - Communications (Recruit)

Appearance - 6'2'', 190 lbs. Short brown hair, clean shaven, on good days. Used to be in great shape, but starting to lose a good bit of it with age. Green eyes, fair skin. Large Adam's apple, portrait tattoo of his daughter on his shoulder. Wears his uniform issued by Sidus Diabola everywhere like a trophy.

Personality - The number one phrase his few real friends would use to describe Joel in the Communications Department; cocky. The other large number of those who dislike him prefer the terms arrogant, self-serving, and, quite frankly, stupid. Not that he made terrible grades, just that almost every life decision Joel ever made, big or small, was that. Stupid. Joel grew up being pampered, in complete control of his life as well as others, and although he's a raving alcoholic now with a rock bottom job in the middle of a godforsaken space station, he still will be quick to boss any and every body around him, even those who are obviously higher in authority. He cares not for the wants or needs of others, only his own selfish gain. Is overly confident in his abilities, especially his "charm." Despite all this, he does have a soft spot for his colleagues with children, as his daughter is the last person he cares about in the world, or, more appropriately, the solar system.

Skills and Weaknesses - (See History) Knows the communications system of Sidus Diabola and many other space-faring craft quite well, although he has not a clue how the whole thing works behind the scenes; that's for those seemingly worthless electricians to worry about. He is quite a good shot with most guns and can defend himself in close quarters if necessary. However, he rarely leaves his Department and doesn't know the station well, and he has an ongoing problem with alcohol that is only further exacerbated by the fact that he carries around a flask every second of his life. Would like to think he's good with people skills; others may beg to differ. Not a particularly stellar brain behind the waning brawn, either.

History - Joel Cauley grew up in one of the more tame provinces in the United Alliance of Earth. His father gave him everything he could have ever wanted, including but not limited to money, top-tier education at a military academy, respect--and fear--from his peers, and multiple opportunities to get a headstart in life, lest he fall into poverty like much of the world. However, this all came to a grinding halt when Joel found himself to be a father, right in the middle of his budding military pathway. Leaving with nothing but his training, a credit card deep in the negative, and a newborn baby girl, Joel was expelled from his academy, disowned from his family from shame, and quickly descended into scraping pennies together to feed the love of his life, his daughter, Heather. He quickly jumped on an opportunity to work on Sidus Diabola--what a better way to boss people around like old times, than to crawl his way up from some hunk of metal in space? He brought his daughter along with him to live on the station, although a hired babysitter had to watch his daughter, now 8, in the Residential Sector. He quickly learned to cope with the stress by drinking away his problems, and attempting to swoon each and every woman his eyes are set on. So far, 100% failure.

EDIT: I apologize to each and every one of you. I did not realize how long this was until I posted D:

Don't worry, it's not as long as mine. :p

Anyway, backstory's done. Not the most exciting (although it certainly went far longer than I intended), but I didn't really picture this character having a major tragedy in his past (or, rather, the major backstory tragedy is what's about to unfold  ).

In addition, a couple details got altered; Miles is now one year younger (to better mesh with his backstory), and the circumstances in which he learned self-defense got altered.

Dammit, yours is much longer :gonk:
Also, monitoring comms?? That's MY job! :x
Also also, will it be posted in this thread when the game starts? And since this is my first game, how regularly should I check on the game once it commences?

It will be posted here with a link to the actual thread start in Games. Check every day just in case but updates will likely be every two days depending on how quickly everyone gets their posts out. As I said, I'm new to this as well and don't want to make update promises I can't keep.
