Well, this page confuses me a bit in that I do not clearly see what's Minmax and Thaco's puppet play, and what is reality....

[edit2]edited title to reflect new comic publication date[/edit2]

I would assume that all the stuff with Maxo Kickaxo is the puppet play - it being drawn as real-them first and then the "big reveal" that it's just puppets coming after Vorpal draws his own Oblivious. It's funny, I guess.

Maybe colours/shading will help make it a bit more obvious that the two are engrossed in their own little RPG in the corner - something to differentiate it from the real stuff.

Hmm... Is it me or does MMs crown show magic powers (things are floating after all)

Big Ears seer. Fumbles chief. Between two and four pages of argument about how Fumbles isn't chief material countered with how the seer is never wrong.

Yeah
.... Problem is... There is already a chief.... :/
Long time ago we have seen him... But dies is still there...

Has the chiefing ceremony been finalised?
I thought not, because Dies refused...
They found out he does not have a chief: http://www.goblinscomic.org/06292012/
Then he refused becoming chief: http://www.goblinscomic.org/07132012/
Possibly the village did both ceremonies already, if they found out the war cap has been eradicated...

In my opinion, there's only one possible choice for seer: Complains of Names! The logical person to nominate for chief would be Thaco.

And you're remembering wrong, LAYF. One of Dies' greatest moments, actually.
"We need you, DIes Horribly. Besides, don't you want history to remember you as a chief?"
"I ... I think I'd rather have history remember that I turned you down, Duv."

IIRC, Thaco as chief has a prophecy problem. Let me see if I can look up what we know about that.

Edit: Here's one bit, the page where Thaco talks about why he didn't accept the Chief role. http://www.goblinscomic.org/07142006/

Edit 2: Here it is -- the prophecy problem with Thaco was a foreseen civil war within the clan. That was avoided by appointing Chief, and he did serve to the best of his ability. The civil war was averted. So there is no current known obstacle to Thaco becoming chief now! http://www.goblinscomic.org/07142006/

Ah, you beat me to it! But I am pretty sure something as plot-significant as appointing a new chief for the tribe would not happen off-screen.

I assumed that since Chief marked Complains' face, he was endorsing him. It makes sense, since he's the next generation.

I think a lot of us assumed that, but it's never been made a note of in-comic. That could be coming into play in the next few comics, though. I think that, if he listens to his dad and learns from him, Complains could make a good chief.

Doesn't the Seer name goblins? If Complains became the Seer, anyone he named would be his own fault!

Exactly! That's why I think he should be the Teller. He has been preparing for this his whole life. He's had a critical opinion of everybody's name, forever. Now he finally gets the chance to do it right.

Yes, that is what's happening. Thunt tweaked the dialogue to hopefully make that clearer.

Cool little detail Thunt just pointed out in the livestream - the scars on Fumbles's forehead don't spell actual words in those panels. They approximate the words, but even that approximation changes from panel to panel. Because Minmax is leading the pretend play and Minmax can't read.

I always found panel 3 clear. by content alone that is not Fumbles speaking. Although he gets more profound, but at that point he is not (being) involved at all in the "what to do" discussion...

Now that's pretty cool. I hadn't noticed!

Maybe that's also why Fumbles looks like Forgath in panel 6 with the bigger moustache and annoyed expression?

I only just realised that Fumbles is wearing his moustache during the 'role play', but then we see it's on his figure and he's not wearing it at all. So that might be a good way of keeping track of what is real and what is role play.

Pity. It would have been cool for Senor Vorpal Kickasso to wield Oblivious :D

Now that the page has been colored it looks like Vorpal has his own Oblivious for a panel or two -- he reaches into the hole and...

This is... interesting.

Now it looks likeComplains of Names Thaco is talking.
So, panel 3 has been amended.

Also panel 7 has been amended: Before Complains of Names shouted "Shut up!"

Yeah, but that's a visualisation of the little roleplaying game Vorpal and Minmax are playing.

I thought it was a bit odd that imaginary-MM and imaginary-Fumbles looked exactly like themselves apart from the lettering - since Thunt wants to speed up drawing, wouldn't it make sense to miss out details their minds wouldn't notice or make them more stylised and cartoony?

Fumble's mustache doesn't have the ties in the middle.

When has he ever done something the easy way?
