Koa, Alex, Bjorn

"But people have gained access to such places since then, right? Plasma did it, and got their weapon working. Well, not that I know exactly what you two are talking about, best I can do is make an uneducated guess, but does it have to be specific ones?"

"Plan B, huh? I guess you're talking about those things, security's pretty tight around 'em, so... you'd need one that doesn't have any security left, yeah?"

"Hah, so you already know! Well, then I'm sure you'll also know there ain't any place left without 'security'! Damn places plundered, the lot of them."

~Indeed, quite correct. No, it needs not be specific, but any that are left would be almost suicide to try and approach. If they were not, the Godslayers would already have gotten to them, no doubt.~

"You guys see the news about it last week?" Koa adds, mentally adding the Regifae part. While Magnus wouldn't be able to hear that, he seems to know what Koa is referring to.

"...Yes."

"Last week? Can't quite recall. Whatever, shit's not important."

~I am not exactly surprised, however.~

"Well, if that's the case, you'll just have to give me a personal escort, won't ya? Maybe we'll become even better pals!"

"...That's not going to happen."

Grimm let's out a sound that seems to quite conclusively boil down to a rather annoyed growl. Finally, after a slight pause, the possessed human speaks once more.

"So, we'll be doing this the hard way then, huh?"

~Activating this ritual will not mess with my plans, Magnus. I just believe it'd not be in your best interest to lose the protection this tower provides. Would it?~

~Last chance.~

Magnus shakes his head lightly, with a heavy sigh... Before kracking his knuckles lightly. Seems he at least isn't planning on complying. Alex notices Grimm's aura steadily darkening further, while that of the ghosts holding the hostages is growing... Lighter?

~The ones with hostages are starting to direct their hostility more towards the hostages than ourselves, it's about to be bad.~ Coughing slightly, Alex raises one hand, palm out, "Is that really necessary? Can we not work out some way to handle this without involving innocents?"

((Possessed hostage holders are 24 spaces away. A single hit should set them loose, hopefully would stop them from killing the hostages, but I've got nothing to do that even if there wasn't a problem of them likely being prepared to off them as soon as we move toward them.))

((Also, I've gotta say, having access to the map through Roll20 is so damn useful. Particularly because of the measuring tool. You wouldn't believe how many times I've counted out distances on maps where the lines are barely visible. How many times I've had to recount more than ten times. And then had to go double check what the range of my attack is, only to forget where I was looking with my previous count. I have spent so much time struggling to work out whether I'm in range to do things. That Roll20 saves me from that struggle is a glory I will always praise.
Though I have to question how all three of us are 24 spaces away from each hostage holder. That part I really don't understand.))

((Oh, also also. I'm only guessing at the reduced hostility from the possessed guys meaning they're focused more on the hostages. It's either that or they're turning on Grimm, but that doesn't really make sense.))

"Last week? Can't quite recall. Whatever, shit's not important."

"Hold up, it is important! Yeah those places got broken into, but...," Koa noticeably hesitates. Was he really sure about this? Was it OK to reveal the newly reactivated temple, and the Trainers' safe haven, to this relative stranger who was willing to go this far for the 'greater good'?

It only took another glance in the direction of the hostages for a decision to be made.

"...Look, not a lot of people know about this, but one of those places? It got a fresh... 'shipment'." ~Another box,~ Koa adds mentally. "But they ain't had the time to get security back up all the way yet, yeah? We brought it in ourselves, so we know for sure!"

"So how about we keep things calm? No one has to get hurt, yeah?"

"Koa. I get that we need to keep things peaceful here, but if you just surrender information that easily you're going to screw over everything. Think about what we know here; it doesn't include how many innocents he's going to slaughter if he gets his hands on one of those. And I don't particularly trust the words of somebody who will take and execute hostages. Could have at least worked out why Magnus refuses to work with him before handing out the most important information we have."

Code: Select all

Right...

I'm not sure if it means THAT exactly, if it even means anything. But, maybe. :)

I'm... Also not certain you'll be able to break this lockdown. You need that staff. :S

...Maybe. I might be able to help.
"Well a singular psychic mother arranged everything happening now because it had the highest chance of a good ending, a plan that even Grimm considers complicated. If a lone psychic can do that, I believe the temple can see far more, even if things only make sense in retrospective, or it's just talking about a chain-link fence instead of the chain you have."

Well needing that staff is an issue, unless we both teleport to the fairy temple handed the staff off teleport back... wait didn't people already teleport to the fairy temple? Or is it through hive-mind connection?

I'm still not sure what you actually want... I just now it won't be directly harmful.

Izzy, Irene, Haley, Bruce

Knight, ignoring the vortex to bite down on the gengar next to him, takes some damage but still strikes true- Leaving the gengar badly injured!

The newly released Hogan goes after the ghost that is bothering Izzy, hoping to distract it with an aerial ace, slowly chipping away at it...

The Gengar, pissed at the crobat attacking it, fires another shadow ball at it- Dealing 49(37) damage! It is quickly followed by the mismagius, firing a psybeam at the part poison type- Dealing 44(48) damage and knocking Knight out!

Irene meanwhile, continues crawling back- And having hefty conversation as she does.

Haha, you are probably right :)

I do wonder how she had such foresight...

Usually, when it comes to predictions like this, the fates can change depending on the actions taken... Closer is more accurate ;)

I thought your friends had the staff..?

Not that it matters much- Quite hard to still get it at this point. :S
I'm still not sure what you actually want... I just now it won't be directly harmful.

Code: Select all

What I want? Do you mean right NOW or in general? :o

Because the latter is probably best not discussed at this time!

And right now I want to help! That is, after all, in everyone's best interests, no? :)
The chandelure, with Zeke out of the way, focuses on Grin- A simple fire attack knocking it out!

Izzy on the other hand, is done playing nice... Releasing Kay right among the misdreavus, as she unleashes a hurricane! knocking out one of the misdreavus, and injuring the others!

The injured misdreavus, panic slightly, focusing on the dragon released just besides them- One of them, in addition to it's other action, spites the hurricane blocking it from being used again! Before one of them tries to confuse, while the other tries a simple astonish. Only the astonish hits however, for a measly 20(10) damage.

Isabelle replaces Grin for Max, throwing it to go deal with the mismagius- As the hound bites down with a devastating bite- Knocking it out!

Jeremy on the other hand, rushes forward, worrying over Haley- And quickly forcing down a pill of some kind, forcing a surge of energy through Haley- Restoring her to 30 HP!

"Careful, you're in bad shape..!"

Bruce terrorizes the Gengar successfully, the ghost surprisingly enough looking scared..!

Of the litwick, one turns to focus on Jeremy after seeing him bring someone up, singing him slightly- While the other one begins to try chase after the phantump, not wanting it to escape if it can be helped..!

With sunlight within no longer helping, Willow has to risk loosing his harvest bonus... But persists, this time.

The one surviving Duskull, annoyingly, continues to attack Izzy- Actually getting off a critical hit for 29(19) damage and fliching her!

Polaris helps Max, as finally, the dusclops strikes Kay with a shadow sneak- Or tries at least, missing!

Haley groans and sits up, looking around. Her action this turn is to reintil sunlight within.

”I am glad you helped me, but I am probably the worst one you could help.... I cannot do much good in combat asides being annoyingand I can’t really command my other mons. The most important thing is to help the hostages. That means we need to keep willow alive.

Willow, if you are more than 30 m from the nearest enemy unphase and ingrain but continue to that door. If not then keep going girl!”

Haley starts to run after the annoying litwick, a pokeball in hand.

true but not all peoples actions are weighted equally. For big events the key players can be focused on. Where as, what the bank clerk eats for breakfast has little impact of what's happening now

As the Duskull tries to smack Izzy, Fern jumps up to knock her aside, absorbing the hit instead and hurting the Duskull with her spikes. Izzy then follows this up with a Pokeball (unless Hogan manages to take it out first, in which case she'll toss a Timer Ball at the Gengar/Chandelure instead, whichever is still up).

Pokeball (AC: 10, Capture Roll: 56 [41 if Timer Ball is used])

Koa, Alex, Bjorn

"Hold up, it is important! Yeah those places got broken into, but... Look, not a lot of people know about this, but one of those places? It got a fresh... 'shipment'." Koa reveals, after some hesitation, 'Grimm''s eyes noticably widening at the reveal of the bug box. For a moment he seems to try probing, but doesn't need much to be told that this is an apparent truth.

"...You've one of them?" Magnus chimes in, seeming to deliberate for a moment, before shaking his head.
"They should not be used. Under any circumstance."

"But they ain't had the time to get security back up all the way yet, yeah? We brought it in ourselves, so we know for sure!"

"So how about we keep things calm? No one has to get hurt, yeah?"

Grimm pauses for a moment longer than is comfortable, as it is obvious he was not expecting this. Eventually however, 'Angstrom' speaks.

"Bahaha! Well, had I known that, I'd have never needed to deal with this old coot now, wouldn't I?"

~Indeed. This could work.~ Grimm speaks, but then... Hesitates. Pausing, for a couple moment, seemingly thinking. Saying as much when another one of the grunts is getting 'worried'. Eventually, speaking only in mindspeak.

~...But how can I be certain that you're willing to comply after this is done?~

~The matter of fact is, if I perform this ritual, the main thing I need is bait. And if none of the boxes can serve... Regigigas will.~

~So what guarantee do I have I will not be stabbed in the back the moment I have thrown my cards off the table? Your friends from what I can tell are not quite complying.~

~Everything we've seen of you have been attempts to kill people en masse. Even now you're threatening to kill. Maybe it is to deal with the Godslayers, maybe not, but what reason do we have to think you're not just going to turn around and commit atrocities if we help you? I can guarantee that's why our friends are still putting up a fight; they have no reason to think you'll do a single good thing.~ Taking a slow breath, Alex scratches at his cheek nervously, as if the silence is worrying him. ~Look, you need some sort of insurance we won't turn against you, else we've got no deal? Then take me along as a hostage. Let the innocents go free. People will be more likely to protect their friends than strangers, so the others - I hope - will play nice until you give them a reason to be hostile.~

Koa squeezes his eyes shut for a few seconds. All this mental back-and-forth was starting to give him a headache. He gives a concerned glance towards Alex after he mentally volunteers as tribute, but doesn't say anything about it. Hopefully he knows what he's doing.

Izzy, Irene, Haley, Bruce

Before anything else, Fern intercepts the incoming attack- The duskull flinching in pain slightly as the barbed pokemon intercepts.

The badly injured gengar at this time, doesn't seem like it wants any more trouble- Turning invisible, and backing off.

"...yup, everyone's interests for now... almost there, so how can you help?"

Code: Select all

...

You are probably not going to like my suggestion.

In it's current state, the towers defenses are... Weakened. Susceptible.

I could take over. If only for a little bit- Force it to reset, basically.

But I can't do that directly. I'd need a conduit, to act on my behalf.

Given the situation... That'd be YOU.

I'd need you to give me permission to exert that power.

And I can not guarantee the experience will not be unpleasant.
Back in the battle, the Chandelure flings more fire, this time aimed at Jeremy- Although taking the painful hit, part of the blast also hits Polaris, Haley and Bruce, as all of them lose 5 HP!

Izzy at this point, seeing the duskull continue to harass her relentlessly, sees only one more way to get rid off it: tossing a pokeball at it! As it hits, it wobbles a couple times... Before being captured with a satisfying "click" sound!

Max continues his plan to knock out every last ghost- Almost knocking out the chandelure!

The misdreavus seem to be running out of "ammunition"... But begin to gang up on Kay as they can, striking for 21(11) and 15(5) damage.

Haley takes Jeremy's help in vain, as he obviously promises to not heal her again (but not really), as she begins to chase after the litwick too..!

As Isabella commands, Jeremy lets out his skrelp.

Bruce tries another intimidate... But sadly fails this time around!

The one litwick continues running, as the other one notices Haley... Still seeming quite intent on not allowing anyone to go downstairs, it begins to try and catch up, flinging a ember for 32(24) damage, quite literally leaving her on the brink of passing out again!

Willow for her own part continues running as fast as they can! And continue to do so without losing the harvest bonus, yet...

the newly released Ivy aims at the chandelure, going for the KO- And... Misses. Polaris gives her a helping hand, for next time.

Finally, the dusclops acts... Burning Kay with a will o wisp!

"I might be on my last legs but I am not going to give up."
(Haley reinstated the sunlight within so Willow is considered in sunlight when using the Harvest ability)

Haley tries to throw a great ball at the litwick that just hit her.

Koa, Alex, Bjorn

"Right. Look, we can work something out, but you gotta let the hostages go. Then we can talk more about your big plan, yeah?"

"Not too hasty kid, I'M the one holding the cards here. Gotta consider whether or not you can make it worth my while, first."

~Yes. That was the intent from the start.~

~Everything we've seen of you have been attempts to kill people en masse. Even now you're threatening to kill. Maybe it is to deal with the Godslayers, maybe not, but what reason do we have to think you're not just going to turn around and commit atrocities if we help you? I can guarantee that's why our friends are still putting up a fight; they have no reason to think you'll do a single good thing.~

For a moment Grimms aura seems to grow darker, more angry, before he seemingly forces himself to take a mental step backwards, consider the situation from a more... Fair perspective. Still, his response seeming rather brusque.

~I'm inclined to disagree with those notions... But will admit I've been acting in a sense that my plan would allow me to simply press onward regardless interruptions, a failsafe ready at all times, and that I could bother explaining after I was done and one could have seen my intention in full. Still I lack the time to properly do so... But know I never intended to kill one of the hostages. Much less 'en masse'.~

~Angstrom is a different matter. If he were to fall now, none would cry for him.~

~What ritual? Bait for what? Clue us in and we 'might' help.~

For a moment it seemed like Grimm was again to reiterate they did not have time, before figuring that if he wants to agree with the trainers plan, he'd need to start making actual compromise... So while it's clear that there's likely more behind it, he gives what must be the root of his plan:

~I intend to send Prometheus home.~

~Look, you need some sort of insurance we won't turn against you, else we've got no deal? Then take me along as a hostage. Let the innocents go free. People will be more likely to protect their friends than strangers, so the others - I hope - will play nice until you give them a reason to be hostile.~

Angstrom/Grimm seems to narrow his eyes, as if considering the offer, and whether or not he can trust it. His one fist seems to clench for a moment, as he responds once more.

~...You realize if we do this, things will stay exactly the same, do you not?~

~Magnus will activate the tower again. You will forget everything you learned about him, and Uyum. They will simply continue to watch, as they have been doing so far.~ he spoke. Something told the trainers, that he may not have included the old man in that particular piece of psychic conversation. Another pause fell, before finally he speaks once again.

~Fine. We'll do it your way. I suppose it is better if we can do things that way. Just... Please do not let me regret this.~

~Now, then. Do you all think you're ready to help me take down this Red Hand gang once and for all? I've come to learn my own troops appear to have been otherwise preoccupied...~

~And if we don't do this, what? We remember, but they'll keep watching idly anyway. I'd rather forget about it and get rid of those 'Godslayers' than remember inaction. Lay out the steps and so long as we aren't killing innocent people I'll follow your plan.~

Irene stumbles, and slows down a little, rereading those lines. I... I see. Realizing she stopped Irene resumes her mad dash to the tower's core. "so, when you say reset, what are you resetting exactly? Last thing we need is the tower to think we're in the middle of the ancient war, but yeah you can use my body... but first I would like trying to reach the tower on my own..." Panting Irene is starting to feel weighted, not just from leaden limbs from the run, but from the knowledge of her mother's plan is relying on her doing the right thing, the fact her friends are fighting, the legends entrusting the group from multiple dimensions.

She's the only one capable of connecting to the tower psychicly, but with the weight of the decision, it isn't much of an exaggeration to say the world is bearing down upon Irene's shoulders.

So the thing is, once I make contact I'm not going to be able to exit that state on my own... so give me I don't know... 10ish seconds to try? Then you can use my body as the conduit...

'No time, no time to explain', Koa keeps hearing in his head. What was so urgent that that Grimm couldn't take a few minutes to tell the trainers what was going on and how he planned to stop it?

~I intend to send Prometheus home.~

Koa visibly tenses at that bit of mental information.

~You mean... back the way he came? Through the tree portal?~ Koa can't imagine there being any other way to Babylon, since Gaia and Hermes seemed convinced that destroying the tree would seal them away from this world forever. But what does Koa know about any of this magic stuff?

Aside from that, Koa doesn't have anything to add. It sounded like Grimm had some sort of plan to deal with all these Red Hand goons, on top of whatever else he had planned. Koa glances around the room, not sure what to expect, only that something about to happen soon.

Izzy, Irene, Haley, Bruce

Kay starts trying to knock out another one of the ghosts, but fails to hit true.

The Gengar continues absconding- As Irene, meanwhile, reaches the spire found not that long before...

"so, when you say reset, what are you resetting exactly? Last thing we need is the tower to think we're in the middle of the ancient war, but yeah you can use my body... but first I would like trying to reach the tower on my own..."

Code: Select all

Reset may or may not be the correct word for the situation.

I would only be resetting it as in bringing it back to a normal state. One in which it can act. :)

...Well, technically, I would be assuming control of the tower myself for a while.

But I will only stick around for as long as you all deem necessary. :)

And, very well. Be careful...
So the thing is, once I make contact I'm not going to be able to exit that state on my own... so give me I don't know... 10ish seconds to try? Then you can use my body as the conduit...

Code: Select all

I'm not sure if it's even POSSIBLE.

But... Ok. Before you do- There's a LOT more I should tell you about what I am about to do.

It is part of the rules that you understand what is about to happen in full depth.

But we've not really the time, so- We can skirt around that if you acknowledge you are missing this information, and accept that.

In turn, I establish all contract terms will be rescinded as soon as the necessary action has been completed.
(Irene, give me a focus roll if you are going to touch the spike...)

The chandelure, still barely standing, tries to counter against Max- A smog based attack dealing a little bit of damage, and poisoning him! The dog plans to bite straight back and knock it out, but not before Izzy gets a chance to throw a ball at it... Capturing it! Instead Max goes after one of the smaller ghosts that have been harassing Haley... Knocking that one out!

Of the two remaining misdreavus, they seem to be holding a desperate last stand- Only one hits, dealing 17(7) damage.

Haley, seeing that ghost now knocked out, instead continues rushing up further into the room after the other litwick and her own pokemon (let me know if you'd like different)

As Isabella continues giving commands, Jeremy at first takes a look at Haley, intending to seemingly catch up, before wincing at his own wounds as he begins to walk- Quickly pulling out some more of his medicine and patching himself up ever so slightly.

Bruce continues his intimdation tactics, this time aiming for the dusclops- Succeeding! He also switches out his crobat for his foongus.

The one Litwick briefly looks back at Haley... Before seeing chasing after Willow as a bigger threat. Willow who, for her own part, reaches the staircase at last. (Willow will arrive at the bottom of the staircase this coming round)

Ivy shoots a water pulse at one of the misdreavus, doing further damage.

Polaris gives Agaric a helping hand.

The dusclops also continues helping pile up against Kay, seeing how no one else really seemed to be in range- 30(20) damage.

Finally, the newly released Agaric gets to act- Hitting with a mega drain for 27 damage, and knocking out one of the misdreavus!

Koa, Alex, Bjorn

~And if we don't do this, what? We remember, but they'll keep watching idly anyway. I'd rather forget about it and get rid of those 'Godslayers' than remember inaction. Lay out the steps and so long as we aren't killing innocent people I'll follow your plan.~

~They may have no other recourse but to be forced into action. An action which I believe may be better for them, then their current refusal to.~ Grimm responds, again it seeming quite certain that only the trainers received that info, though with how Magnus glances between the two of them, it is not completely certain he's not unaware of what has been said. In either case, Grimm seems to have already dismissed the notion of this happening, somewhat to his chagrin.

~You mean... back the way he came? Through the tree portal?~

'Angstrom' can't help but raise a curious glance at this sudden revelation, before ever so subtly shaking his head.

~You do know a lot more than you should... Basically yes, but not quite. This is what I mean with we don't have time- If I am going to have to explain in detail every bit of minutiae while we have all these nervous onlookers, well, it's not possible is it? Later.~

~don't let you regret this?! Don't let US regret this! Enough yammering already, lets go get the Red Hand!~

'Angstrom' chuckles weakly at this mental response, speaking up once more.

"Alright, fair enough. Those are terms I can accept."

"After all, it's not like I'm going to need most of these fools any longer."

The grunts in the room briefly look at each other in apparent confusion what Angstrom could mean with that, nervous, though they are not given too long to think about it. The two grunts that had been taking hold of the hostages, suddenly pushing them away- Before rapidly twirling back, their knifes slashing at the nearby grunts! The attacks fall short, however, but to an aware outside observer it was obvious it was nothing more but an act, sowing yet more chaos among the group. Alex would note that, immediately after, the ghosts in control abscond, leaving the "hostile" grunts rather confused, though that did not stop the others from bearing down on him.

"The boss is selling us out?!"

"I always knew you were a slimy rat, Patrick!"

"Hold the fuck on, I'm no part of this..!"

None of the grunts seem able to look upon each other without some level of doubt that they might be part of this hostile takeover, all reaching for their weapons and pokeballs...
