Foray Carnage Turn 34

Post by Nerre » Sun Apr 10, 2016 3:05 pm

FORAY CARNAGE
Turn 34:

Events:
Kills takes a shot at the humans laying flat on the slope. His arrow flies wide and hits the rocks behind the humans. Misses cannot score a hit either. Defiles has more luck, it grazes the arm of one of the man. But it doesn't look like it did much damage.

Splinters, not being able to take part in the ranged combat, takes a look around. Above their position are more trees and larger rocks, but less undergrowth, as the tree's shadow keeps too much light away. It is darker there than on the exposed rock right beside the street, and about as steep as on the slope. All phases of erosion can be found on the slope, so he can spot rocks of various shapes and sizes, from large base rock sticking out through the soil to tiny gravel. He also spots a narrow moraine with several deeper holes, gaps and bolders, which leads to the gap between the rocks. During heavy rain a mountain torrent seems to run down there.

Blindingly climbs out of his ravine. "Hey, what now?" he asks his friends, not noticing the humans until he walked to the edge of the slop, right in front but still above them. "Oh. Clear off!" he missiles one of the humans crouching below him on the slope. It hits one of the surprised humans right on his back, sending him rolling down half the slope. The bright light of the spell combined with the dark of the night, makes Blindingly shine like a beacon for a second. On the one hand, this blinds the humans for several second and keeps their eyes from adapting to the dark. On the other hand, it gave him away as much as possible, so he isn't surprised to much, when a hatchet hits his legs, making him fall onto the rocky ground. As it hit him below his chainmail, it did not help. At least the humans now got one weapon less.

Info:
-All but Blindingly have a 1/3 chance to hit an human on the slop with an arrow while staying hidden in the bushes.
-Blindingly cannot see the humans on the slop until he goes to the edge of the rock again or until they advance.

Does Regrowth have a range? If Kills can cast it on Blindingly from where he is he will, otherwise he'll keep shooting at the humans.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)

Splinters sees that the humans are being very cautious and staying back from the woods and undergrowth, so he is not that worried about staying quiet. Hoping to actually get a few them to move up, he will walk further into the woods to pick a nice hand sized rock that he can use as a thrown weapon. (He is trying to stay out of sight of the humans, but he is NOT worried about making noise by walking on underbrush or whatever, if the noises spook the humans or make them wonder about how MANY goblins are out to get them...that is a good thing in his mind)
He will still hold any attack action, unless a human charges and attacks a fellow goblin. If that happens he will charge in to assist.

I did not put to much thinking into that. Most spells I had in mind are "line of sight" with a limitation if it is far more than you could shoot an arrow. So let's say 100 Meters. That is more than most normal D&D spells.
If a spell is category "touch" or any other kind of special, I will put it into the spell describtion.

Foray Carnage Turn 35

Post by Nerre » Thu Apr 14, 2016 3:49 am

FORAY CARNAGE
Turn 35:

Events:
Kills cast regrowth on the injured Blindingly, while he tried to run towards the bushes, where the rest of his comrades were hiding. With the injured leg, he was not as quick as he used to be, so he rather limbed than ran. Three humans jumped up to intercept him.
Splinters, who had walked up after seeing that the humans acted very cautious, tried to to find a rock he could throw at the humans, and had no problem at all to find one. He also made a lot of noises to make the humans think their number was bigger. Only then he noticed that the humans ran towards Blindingly.
Misses and Defiles did react quicker, and let their arrows fly. Both did hit one of the Humans. They dealt serious damage and slowed him down, but he kept going on.
Just when the humans reached Blindingly, Splinters charged out of the bushes, raging, and drove his sword deep into the human, who had injured Blindingly by throwing his hatchet. The human could not overcome Splinter's defense, and fell on his back, with Splinters on top of him. Like a surfboard, Splinters rode the human down onto the rocks. Heavily breathing, the human reached for his second hatchet, not laying far from where he stopped. Splinters wanted to keep him from regaining it, but suddenly an arrow from the archer in the tree hit him. While he was shocked for a moment, the human below his feet grabbed the hatched.
The remaining human running after Blindingly, hit him with his axe. It only grazed his back, but left a deep cut.
While falling forward into the bushes, Blindingly manages to cast a magic misile hitting the man into the face, blinding him for one turn.

Info:

Knowing there are too many humans here, he is gonna make sure this once does NOT get up.

He stabs his sword down at the human who is lying on the ground in front of him.
If the human is already dead before Splinter's attack (because of Defiles), he will instead sprint back into the bushes for cover.

Foray Carnage Turn 36

Post by Nerre » Mon Apr 18, 2016 7:55 am

FORAY CARNAGE
Turn 36:

Events:
With Blindingly finally getting into the bushes, Kills used his Medic ability to take care of the most severe wounds. "Hey, thanks" Blindingly thanked him, when the blinded human stepped in the bushes. "Let me just-" Blindingly continued and fired another missile at the human. It hit him, just like the last one, but Blindingly notices the man had raised his arm to cover his eyes between the first and the second shot. While it saves him from getting blinded again, it did not save him against Defiles, who drove his large two handed sword into his lower belly. Defiles had to give the man some credit, as he was still standing. The man swung his sword down, after having guessed blindly where the goblins might have been. He hit Defiles, but his axe merely scratched the goblin and only left a minor cut.

The second human who was going after Blindingly, would have arrived in the meanwhile, but before he could get to Blindingly, Misses stroke him with another arrow. The short range increased the impact and made stumble over some rocks. He fell on the ground, but did not slide down the slope.
But two more humans started to charge, one at Splinters, one at the bushes where Blindingly, Kills and Misses were in.

Having known there were too many humans here, and having seen more of them were charging out the corner of his eye, Splinters wanted to make sure the one he currently was fighting would not to get up again. Furiously him and the human hacked at each other. Splinters did score a hit and blocked one with his shield, but the second axe of the human bite into his side. At least that was the last the human had done to them, as he seemed to be done for now. Splinters shakely stood up, only to see that another human was running towards him. He ducked just in time to avoid another arrow from the archer in the tree. This made the chicken-hearted archer lose his last bits of fighting spirit, and instead of continuing to fight, he rather started to climb down the tree.
Splinters turned and started to sprint back into the bushes for cover.

Info:
-All goblins have a 3/4 chance to hit an human in the open, and a 1/3 chance to hit an human cowering on the slope.
-All humans have a 1/4 chance to hit with an arrow or thrown weapon cause of the darkness. On very close range it is 1/2.

Splinters, not feeling well at all from all his wounds, runs as fast as he can for the closest bushes for cover. When he reaches cover he crouches low, but continues to move a bit further into the forest for safety. When he feels he is safe, he will quietly try making his way over to Kills for some healing.

He saw a large human towering over Blindingly, who was sitting on the ground right beside Kills. The man was shaking, but nevertheless he raised his axe to hit Blindingly. Splinters drove his sword into the lower back of the human on the dead run. This did not keep the axe from the man from hitting Blindingly, but it kept it from hitting him right in the face. Instead, it only grazed his shoulder.
Then Splinters and the human both fell to the ground. Blindingly rolled to the side to avoid getting caught underneath, while Kills, quickly estimating Splinters bad condition, cast Regrowth on him.
Misses meanwhile managed to hit the human charging after Splinters. When the human reaches the bushes, he is too late to help his comrade. Seeing Blindingly and Splinters on the ground, his anger unloads on Kills. Both hatches cut into his flesh before he can draw his weapons. The man looks angry but satisfied for a split second, but then he gets hit by Blindingly's missile on one of his arms.
"Ugh, what is this nonsense?" Blindingly complains.

Defiles got flanked by a second human, before he could finish off the one he was already fighting. But he decided to take a risk and try to finish the slower and already injured human quickly nonetheless, as he prefered one fresh enemy over being flanked between two. He charged at the injured man, before he could raise his axe to attack. Defiles sword bit deep into the mans neck, right between head and shoulder, and cut his head half off. The second human however tookt he opportunity and hit Defiles twice, once while he charged past him, and then again on his back. Defiles took a few side steps to get out of his reach and turned towards him.

The remaining humans on the slope, who were not yet involved in the fight, started to climb down the slope, while the one on the lower end and the archer started to run after the cart.
Only the fresh human fighting Defiles and the already injured one, who just hit Kills.

Info:
-All goblins have a 3/4 chance to hit an human in the open, and a 1/3 chance to hit an human cowering on the slope.
-All humans have a 1/4 chance to hit with an arrow or thrown weapon cause of the darkness. On very close range it is 1/2.

PS: Anybody got news about D43dlock? Has been over a month now since his PC broke. Hope he can afford a new one and that nothing worse happened.

"Honestly, you should just be dead. Stupid humans go home!"

Blindingly slashes the man who hit him.
I have no idea what I'm doing, and IT IS GLORIOUS!

Defiles grins and attacks the freshly arrived human, whirling his blade around in a powerful strike.

Vote that Misses fires at whichever human he has the clearest shot at, if tied, shoot the one that seems most injured. (Also, don't know anything about his computer, I don't have contact with him outside of the forum)

Can you give a quick update on how many total humans we still see alive? and how many are still in fight mode and how many are running away?
Thanks

2 Humans are left fighting you. A fresh one standing against Defiles, and an injured one standing against Kills, Blindingly and Splinters.
Misses is not involved into any melee right now.

Actually, you see more humans, but those started to retreat. One was driving away the cart right from the beginning of the battle. He now was joined by the archer and at least two more humans you could see slide down the slope to get away.

Cool, Thanks Nerre.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Splinter's first worry is getting up off the ground without getting impaled by the human, so he gets up the best that he can while being defensive, holding his shield in front of him as he stands.
If he still has time, he will swing at the human with his sword.
