Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
You know, she could make a totally ridiculous demand, and force the mayor to decline. Then we'd probably be hunted afterward, but...

There was a number already, just can't recall it without looking it up.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Given the item's probable value, I figure 500 gp each isn't an unreasonable request? Let's see...

Let us put a number on this favor, I do not be that comfortable just leaving it completely open ended. In addition to that already discussed, payment in the form of 200 gold each, or a comparably valued favor, on which I have final approval?"

If anything you are giving P a low ball estimate!

Looks like it. Now that I think about it, could legitimately have asked for 4000...platinum. A tunable item that allows you to access multiple planes without a big wad of exotic materials? Expensive exotic materials at that.

Yeah I would honestly ask enough that the dm pembleton would never even consider handing it over, and its not even be out of actual price range...

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
I would add that Dornikal would be disappointed that the thing he wanted most from the deal with the wizard, easy transport to Estmont for Szartha's wagon and people, wouldn't likely be possible without the orb. Dornikal trusts Tess's intentions here but he won't like the idea of selling the wizard's interest on the orb out.
That Pembleton is even dealing means he knows he is on sufficiently shaky ground to claim the orb that it could come back and bite him and wants to create a paper trail to establish ownership.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Honestly I think Tess got pretty good grounds to claim she's the new owner. Maybe it ought to be brought up that it was found abandoned beneath the sewers, surrounded by monsters..? Does he want to claim he left it behind there..?
Of course, refusing to sell it is going to end up with us getting the same fate as te wizards previous assistant, or at least, he'll try to. But if we get out before he even gets the chance, or we are a bit more proactive...

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
I don't think Randy would mind pulling a double cross here. Get the money from P and then steal the globe back (maybe leaving P with a new ear to ear smile). He could justify it since P is pretty much a villain it looks like.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Big question of course, is the mayor a "Mob boss" or "I want to destroy the ENTIRE UNIVERSE BY MY ELDRITCH SPAWN" kind of evil, though.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Nah, he's neutral good. Which means that he can be pragmatic in his solutions as long as it is for the benefit of society. If P is a mob boss type who is "untouchable" within the bounds of society because of his position in politics and is a potential cause of great harm, Randy could probably justify going after him by any reasonable means necessary. What is left up to interpretation at this point is "What is reasonable?" That is going to change as his abilities change.
This is fairly canon for him and actually is playing quite well into the plans for his character development. We now have a potential motive for him to move into multiclassing as a thief/assassin. Shadow monk will be a little latter. I jokingly called him "Batman of the woods" back when we first started. I'm thinking he's going to wind up more of the Punisher type...with a little more ethics involved. Maybe Paladin from the old westerns.

Yeah, I mean, my plan is not to lose the orb here. Best case, we get paid twice, but I doubt this guy is particularly honorable.

Well.... Maybe you've got some good sense after all.
To be fair... Gordon is oblivious to all of this

We're giving Gordo the benefit of the doubt. So far, his occupational specialty seems to be mini-meatshield and distraction.

Well, guess we're blowing up a mansion...

Ambushing them outside the guild house is gonna gets the guards on us. A fire to purify the town if it's disease is the way to go.
