The bughunters lash out with their scimitars, carving into the fire spitter before it unleashes a gout of flame.

The ground is awash in flame as the creatures seek to char the dragonborn... and one gnome.

Randy yells to his squad "Get down NOW!"

For once they listen and dive out of the way.

"You're about to be swarmed! Get out of there! RUN!"


((Bughunter Squad R will work on disengaging and retreating back south. If the opportunity presents itself, they'll whoomp on the cow eater trying to broil Ulmwin. ))

Ulmwin's squad is nimble, and manages to dodge any fire that their natural resistance can't handle, and he manages to avoid taking a direct blast, though he does get slightly singed (-5 fire).

Randy and his squad focus on Cow eater that's trying to toast Ulmwin, Randy sniping from above just before his squad rolls over it.

Longbow attack 1: 1D20+6 = [6]+6 = 12

Longbow attack 2: 1D20+6 = [13]+6 = 19

longbow damage 2: 1D8+3 = [5]+3 = 8

Dragon Squad melee attack: 1D20+6 = [13]+6 = 19

DSR Melee dmg: 4D6+8 = [5, 4, 4, 4]+8 = 25

Total damage: 33

Dornikal takes off his shield and pulls out Talish's heavy crossbow, readying it for next round.

Tren and Galt target the nearest one directly west of Randy.

Tren and Galt attacks: 1D20+4 = [7]+4 = 11
1D8+2 = [3]+2 = 5
1D20+5 = [7]+5 = 12
1D6+3 = [3]+3 = 6

Galt bless: 1D4 = [1] = 1

Tren and Galt both fail to hit anything vital with their attacks.

Ulmwin has his bug hunters strike at the bugs behind them- And assuming they slay them, to trample over its corpse so they would flank the one remaining bug. While Ulmwin considers his option for a long time... And eventually concludes that firing his definitely a fire bolt at the one that attackeed him remains the best option.

Fire bolt: 2D20 = [20, 10] = 30
2D10 = [6, 5] = 11

bug hunters: 1D20 = [10] = 10
4D6+8 = [6, 4, 4, 6]+8 = 28

Ulmwin unleashes a crackling blast that spirals towards the one that attacked him, part of it slamming into the creature and nearly turning it inside out, rupturing the flammable gland, but having just depleted itself, it's not enough to cause splash damage to the dragonborn. The rest of his crackling blast of energy sails over it and impacts on the rock wall to Dornikal's southwest.

His dragonborn make short work of another that sputters and flames as they pierce it's flame sack.

((I just decided that, since we'd developed the 'crit means it pops' earlier, that unless they are ready to flame, that won't occur. If it had, a bunch of dragonborn would be needing to make saves. They'd probably be fine, but thinking ahead, for if you guys are ever in melee with them.))

The (Coljin's) dragonborn move 5 feet so that they are directly between the two bugs that just attacked them. If they belch flame again, they will also hit each other.

Coljin says a quick prayer and then sends a gout of holy light flying at the closest bug.
Guiding bolt: 1D20+4 = [4]+4 = 8


The dragonborn then use their swords and chop into the bug directly to their south.
DB melee: 1D20+6 = [12]+6 = 18

DB damage: 4D6+8 = [5, 3, 5, 6]+8 = 27

Coljin sends a bolt of holy energy forth, but it goes wide.

((The dragonborn did hit the one they were in melee with when it arrived, it's quite hurt, if they wanted to finish it off, then would be freed up from opportunity attacks if you wished to position them elsewhere.))

Coljin's squad finishes one of the creatures, then beats a retreat.

Two of the burrowing bugs turn and bite at Randy's squad, which nimbly dodges and fends of the mandibles.

Cow Eater attacks on DS_R: 1D20+5 = [5]+5 = 10
1D20+5 = [5]+5 = 10


The other turns on Zokk's squad, their mandibles nearly clamping onto the leg of one of the dragonborn, flaming spittle running down from the bite. before they parry the bite to the side.

Cow Eater attacks on DS_Z: 1D20+5 = [10]+5 = 15

((Retainer card reminder.... if you wish to use it.))

Two swarm the dragonborn closest to the entrance, but they are kept at bay.

Cow Eater attacks on DS_U: 1D20+5 = [6]+5 = 11
1D20+5 = [1]+5 = 6


More swarm out of the tunnel, but on the upside, the torrent seems to be slowing to a trickle, but they are much more spread out, some of them skittering in Dornikal's direction, others going for whichever of your group they seem like they might be able to bite or flame. Coljin's retainers get washed in flame.

Zokk aims at those in a large group to the left, preferring the damaged over undamaged one.

Zokk squad will hit at the one in front of them.

Feeling he will need to save his power for healing, he will instead just start shooting his crossbow at the bugs again.
xbow: 1D20+4 = [3]+4 = 7


The dragonborn, getting scorched again, move to attack the bug attacking (Randys) the other dragonborn group.

melee damage: 4D6+8 = [3, 5, 1, 1]+8 = 18

Zokk's crew retaliates against the creature that tried to attack them, while the large tree-folk snipes from above, dropping the one that just flamed Coljin's squad.

The gnomish cleric fires his crossbow, but misses, while the dragonborn move in to support and somewhat cut off the route of other bugs to Ulmwin.

Dornikal winces in regret and drops Talish's crossbow before pulling the killing sword and charging down and attacking the approaching coweater to his SW, staying up on the lip if he can for that extra height advantage. As he picks up speed he yells,

"DUMATHOIN IS WITH US!"

Dornikal zealot attacking: 1D20+8 = [19]+8 = 27
1D10+5+2+1D6+2 = [1]+5+2+[6]+2 = 16

Dornikal regular rage attacking: 1D20+8 = [13]+8 = 21
