Re: The Sundered Way
Dornikal will move out of the way of the soldiers trying to get in and slightly behind Holger (two west and one north unless that puts him closer than 20ft with Holger).
He will listen and squint into the darkness.
Perception: 1d20+4 = [14] = 18

Randy will more or less keep pace with Holger, maintaining his relative position.

((The bloody water was a hold over from last use of map, and wouldn't have been visible.))
As the party moves along, There's blood visible on the cave floor.
"That tentacle beast got a few of ours there.", Anders says. "Dry tunnel is ahead on the left."
The cave is quiet.
((Nothing more to see with darkvision. ))

"Hmm.. Do you recon I should send a few blasts of fire forth to see what's ahead or hide the fact it's a thing I can do? By the way Randy, how often can you sense portals?"

((Spider, which version of Detect Portal are you using? I've seen descriptions all over the board on that one. For Randy it's not a spell per se, but I was never clear on how often he could do it. It takes an action to do. ))

Randy replies to Holger. "I'd have to rest for a bit before I could do it again. It takes a bit out of you."

Holger continues along the edge, while Randy, Dornikal and Anders trail at a safer distance. The gnomes and other guards move into the chamber. The edge of the right-most tunnel is visible.
Dornikal can see past the Holger-light to see the dry tunnel.

Coljin speaks up, "Last time they came at us from different tunnels and all directions. Good tactics on THEIR part. We need to stop that from happening again. Maybe we clear out the dry tunnel before going into the water."

To the old lady:
"Afraid I had a run-in with some street thieves this morning and lost my purse. If you don't mind me making use of your fire, that will have to do for me!"

"Oh, dear, oh dear. You're welcome to get warmed up, and if you don't mind doing a bit of work for me, I can give you a spot of food to warm your belly too. The cat got in my knitting, and it's all tangled up. My old fingers don't pick apart the tangles as well as they used to."

"Happy to help!"
Nem starts untangling the yarn and making small talk while Ily discovers the joys of the yarn balls of the Material Plane.
"So tell me about the city! What's worth seeing around here? Any places I should check out? Or more importantly, any places to avoid?"

"Oh, let's see... Today won't be a good one for it, but catching the sunset over the harbor is always lovely, I don't get around as much as I used to, but have a little patio that the cats and I spend our time in. There's temples for the religious folk, and the square is pretty lively on market days. Street thieves snatching purses though, tsk tsk. I'll tell you what my Nan told me, sew a pocket on the inside of your knickers, and keep a gold in there for emergencies! Well, she told me to keep a copper in there, but you get the idea."
She busies herself getting around a large bowl of a savory smelling fish and potato stew, with a toasted heel of buttered bread, that she places near you.
A large orange stripped cat saunters over and circles Ily a bit before flopping down next to the hearth.

Ily meows at the cat and wanders over to say hello in that sideways, cat-ish kind of way.

Re: The Sundered Way
Nem laughs at the underwear suggestion.
"That is a clever idea! I shall have to remember it!"
((I thought Ily might be able to tell, since familiars are fey/celestial/fiends rather than true beasts. Just in a "takes one to know one" kind of way I've got no way to tell otherwise, so no worries if it's not obvious))
"No he's just fine. He got some fish at the docks earlier!"
"...I like this bar. Have you always lived in the city? I imagine someone like yourself must know most of what goes on in a place like this."

Dornikal continues behind Holger, staying a minimum of 20 feet behind him.
