Otherwise Holger will show patience as he goes through the incident and how to best recreate them with illusions

Upon making it to the inn Dornikal mutters,

"Oh thank Dumathoin"

He steps inside and looks for any of his companions as he makes his way to the bar.

You get the impression that your playing it cute isn't getting you as far as usual, and suspect that somehow the Commander is sitting on information he hasn't voiced.

Dornikal, you head up to bar and a tall human woman greets you.

"What'll it be?"

Randy and Coljin spot the short-bearded dwarf walk in.

"Ale dark." He squints at the menu. "Spicy sausage."

He glances around again,

"Ye haven't seen a man with a purple tattoo on his face have ye? Or a big black dragonborn? Maybe a handsome human with a couple swords and a bow?"

As she's getting your order around, she speaks over her shoulder.

"No purple face tattoo or dragonborn, they'd standout as much as you. That your friends there? He said he was expecting others, but didn't say who."

She sets things down and points out the table with Randy and the gnomes.

"That'll be ten copper."

(("Randy and the Gnomes" sounds like a high school band name.))

Dornikal lightens at seeing his friends,

"Aye, thank ye!"

He pays up, not thinking about the price, and takes his food over to them.

"Room for another?"

She smiles as she scoops up your coin before hurrying over to help another patron.

((It's a 4 seater.))

"Light ale, please. And... Actually, I shall take the sausage and cashew bread, with a side of boiled eggs and turnips please, you can leave the extra bread." he orders, before glancing at Randy.

"Hey, I'm hungry..!"

Maji gets off of Holger's lap as the time ticks down, not sure what to do.

He eyes the captain and Holger, trying to decern what is going on and why they aren't leaving yet.

Ulmwin is making good progress through his food by the time Dornikal catches up to them.

((The Commander left when it was clear to him the Holger wasn't in a cooperating mood.))

Randy growls "Don't abuse it. You're going to pay me back, you know."

Ulmwin chuckles slightly, but gives a quick reassuring smile. "Don't worry, I know- I'll expect a tab once this is all over, I'll try and keep track of it myself as well. I am hungry however, but mostly starving for fresher delicacies." he nods.

The serving woman smiles at Randy as he forks over the cost of Ulmwin's double dinner.

Maji gives Holger a curious look, wondering what the Commander wanted from Holger. He waits patiently. As they wait, he turns back to normal and starts attuning to the belt. Might as well do something productive while Holger is holding them up.

I'm sure the guards and the captain are just going to be thrilled for kitty to be replaced with a big hulking dragonborn! ))

Holger breathes a sigh of relief, he was worried he had to punch a cat in order to show them Maji's true form.

Hey, Holger has done nothing but cooperating thus far, the captain just decided staring contest rather than questioning was a better idea.
At least I only saw him asking about current magic

(( I think having him sniggering would please Holger more, it would give a great relaxed mood rather than the attempted bad cop vibe.
I don't know why you assume Holger got such a fragile mind that he can't handle being joked about.. Well I guess he has been moody lately after half the party was ready to betray him ))

Five minutes pass... Ten... A half hour... An hour...more?

The door opens and the Commander walks in thinking through a book and followed by a guard carrying a portable desk that he sets on the table and gets out paper, ink and a quill. The Commander doesn't make eye contact with either of you, focused on what he's reading.

"Thank you Brenso, would you please bring a third chair?"

He sits in his chair, and keeps thumbing through his book, the other guard shortly returning and placing a chair for Maji.

The Commander thanks and dismisses him, closing the book and sitting up to start writing on the desk's slanted surface.

As he is eating Dornikal asks,

"What's the word on the others? Aye can't say folks have been friendly here. Any idea why they don't seem to like dwarves? Dwarven land ain't likely too far away?"

Maji quietly sits in the chair, not daring to cause more trouble for himself.

"I'll ask again. Are either of you currently utilizing magics?"

He seems nonplussed that it's a dragonborn rather than a cat.

Randy shrugs. " Tess is still missing. Maj and Holger are likely at the guards command post, wherever that is. As to why they seem a bit ...hostile... to dwarves, maybe there's been trouble between them? I seem to remember that dwarven caravan guard mentioning something going on, but he wouldn't talk about it."
