((yeah, Ily's definitely there - she was told to being him, so he's tagging along quite openly))

Nem: 1d20+4 = [7] = 11

Ily: 1d20+3 = [10] = 13

The two of you look about for a Blue Anchor, but that doesn't seem to be the name of any of the dockside bars.

((What would you like to do now?))

((I think, given the importance of this potential meeting, Nem would have aimed to be there a bit (maybe 30 mins) before dawn, and will spend some time looking for it. With that roll, if she's late, she's late I guess))

Turning her attention away from the bars and shops, she'll try the boats, wondering if it's a literal blue anchor or ship name...

Maji stretches and gets up, looking to see if any body else is awake. While he is waiting forcthe others to get up he starts carving an eye into each of his mussel shells.

There are a few boats docked, with a few fishing vessels coming in with the early morning catch. Spirited discussions crop up as the fishermen sell their catch to the dockside sellers and their stalls. There are other, larger vessels, likely merchant ships, but scanning all of them, but Tess, so far you don't see any ships named Blue Anchor, or any ships with an anchor that is blue.

You've reached the seedier south west end of the docks, and are considering where your search should take you next, when a thin, reedy voice calls out from one of the only stalls here. "Miss, you be wanting a bit of fish for your cat?"

Nem makes the cant sign for "Looking for someone" and approaches, watching for a reply.

"Thanks love, he's a terrible mouser."

She gives a couple of coppers over.

"Ah, well when there's fish to be had, who wants mice? "

He gives his head a distinctive three fingered scratch to let you know he's 'willing to help'.

"He wanting those whole, or dressed? ", he asks, pulling a few smaller fish up from a bucket and placing them on the board in front of him.

Deciding subtlety isn't getting her anywhere fast, she just asks outright.

"Ah, dressed would be great. He's a little fussy! Hey, do you know any blue anchors around here?"

"Blue anchor? Why would you be looking for a blue anchor?", he says casually, pulling out a thin blade and quickly dressing out the fish and handing you the raw filets on broad, rubbery leaf of some sort.

He smiles. "No worries, I can help."

He sets a sign at the front of his stall "Back Soon."

Swinging off his stool, he leap-hobbles to the side, where he pulls a pair of wooden crutches out and moves quickly around to join you on the dock-side. His left leg ends just above the knee, his pant leg tailored to fit.

"This way..."

He sets off a a decent pace towards the nearest street, not looking back to see if you follow.

He leads you a short way, turning down an alley and opening a small gate after fiddling with it for a moment.

"After you.", he says, holding it open.

You give him a closer inspection... the threadbare, ill-fitting clothes, reedy voice and thin, lank, receding hair, not to mention the one leg and crutches certainly take the attention away from arms that are wiry and well muscled, and he filleted that fish like someone well practiced in using a blade... however, his smile doesn't seem malicious...

Likely more dangerous than he appears at first glance, but doesn't seem to be directing any of that at you.

You precede him into the space behind the gate, and find... more alley, with some crates and barrels that makes it a bit of a storeroom, that dead ends a short ways down.

He closes the gate behind him, and shifts a board that provides a viewing hole down the alley. He occasionally casts a quick glance down the alleyway.

"There. We can speak openly here."

He shifts his stance on his crutches to roll up his right sleeve to reveal a somewhat blue anchor tattooed on his upper forearm.

"I was told that a woman with a cat may have some information that I should hear? I hope you had the sense not to ask everyone on the docks about a 'blue anchor'?"

Nem gives the man a smile.

"Of course not! Although, I thought it would be easier to find. Regardless, I have spent many months in the far East, near Esmont and the like. During my travels, I came upon the body of a fellow who is known to the family. I wanted to return his property to them with my condolences."

Insight while she talks:
1d20+2 = [5] = 7

(If Ily can help while he prowls around):
1d20+2 = [11] = 13

You're having trouble getting a good read on him, his easy smile has gone still as he responds. "Known to the Family? Might I ask how you know this?"
