Thedor will sit back and state, "Why do you need a dagger on this mission?" to Bob.

Imarial brings Thedor up to speed on the questioning of the 'drow', deferring to Elara, and tells him about finding the pouch.

Thedor points into the woods, "Well back in there there is a path off the road. It comes to cave in the side of this cliff. There are signs of a campfire and a rather rotted corpse at the entrance, but with very fresh blood on it. Nothing else indicating any struggles or such, but it is suspicious when adding in our underdark groupies."

He leans against a tree, "Anything anyone knows about the use of zombies?"

"Human, and I was trying to guess why an old corpse would have new blood. Unless his lordship has been dead for awhile, he's not our man."

"Oh, now that I think on it a bit more... Zombies are undead reanimated through necromancy. They tend to be harder to kill than their living counterparts, but seems to lack good ways of attacking unless in hordes.

The region of Hilla did suffer from numerous zombie attacks a few years back. There was a pattern to it even. One day multiple villagers would disappear, then two or three weeks later they would return as zombies, but at another part of the region, always from the mountains to the east. One day the attacks just stopped..."

"So as I see it we can forget this whole mission and just go find some other work, try to see what is going on in that cave, or go to the Keep for reinforcements. But why do I think there aren't any reinforcements available from said Keep."

"My options do not permit just finding other work. Recovering the research I've compiled over the last four years is my work. Either we find Lord Rakal and my documents, or I'll need to spend another few years rebuilding what has been lost. If these false drow are connected to his disappearance, and to the cave, I think we should see what is going on there, then head to the Keep. Even if there aren't reinforcements, we may learn more about when Lord Rakal departed, and what might have befallen him."

"Why didn't he use his owns armsmen for an escort on this trip? I would have thought it acceptable that he didn't want to under staff his keep and he was switching escorts back at the Inn, but those two drow shouldn't have been able to stop four trained soldiers and no bodies were on the road... "

"Perhaps his men couldn't be trusted any more. Politics are... Tricky... after all. Do any of you know what he was carrying to the king? Imarial, could any of your research have been tied to anything we've seen so far?

At any rate, let's not panic needlessly. He may simply have taken the forest road."

"It was none of your concern what he was taking to the City until he went missing! You don't think I wanted to dash to the Keep when he sent word he'd found my research?! Instead I stayed in Eelsbridge, gathered up the items and people he asked me too, and waited for his arrival."

"Enough! You know as well as I do that those were not our instructions, Thedor. Now, unless you can turn back time, I suggest we make the best of our circumstances to move forward. We know we are being targeted by an unknown group for some unknown reason. If it's a coincidence, it puts us at risk and it puts our man at risk by association with us. If it's not a coincidence then we should assume that he or his cargo is the target and in need of our assistance. Either way, we should not ignore what we've found and will gain little by bickering over what we should have or could have done. Let's find our man now and do what we've been hired to do!"

Thedor narrows his eyes at them both, "my point is that if he has any more information it would be best to share it now...even if this elf feel it does not appear to recover his research"
