Dain rips out an oath and follows up with Ray of Frost to the critter's head.
ray of frost: 1D20+6 = [14]+6 = 20
ray of frost damage: 2D8 = [7, 7] = 14

The ray of frost hits hard and you see veins of ice spread across the boys face. He howls in pain and surprise and begins to sob.
Warryn's up.

Re: MotBM
Warryn prepares a Fire Bolt, then pauses. The boy was acting less....monstrous than he'd been expecting, for the child of a Medusa. Perhaps they'd made a mistake...
...oh well, too late now!
Action: Cantrip Attack
- Fire Bolt: 1D20+6 = [18]+6 = 24
2D10 = [1, 6] = 7

Re: MotBM
The boy yelps as the previous burst of ice magic explodes in a burst of burning steam from Warryn's fireball, but he is still alive.
With confused tears running down his face, he begins to back away from you towards the right-hand doorway, brandishing his blunt wooden sword at you in the apparent hope that it might do something.
The chess pieces begin to yell at you all:
"Don't let it escape!"
"That's our men in there!"
"You're going to lose them!"
The Queen points at Aura and shouts:
"Kill it!"
((Aura: Give me a WIS save please))
The King shouts at Ah'Sereen:
"Look at it! It's a monster!"
((WIS saving throw for you too please))
The Rooks shout at Art:
"Get over there man!"
((Give me two WIS saves please))

Art doesn't particularly want to do anything of the kind, but quickly discovers his legs have other ideas, and he lurches forwards towards the snake-boy a look of total confusion on his face.
The chess pieces cheer!
"That's it boy! Get him!"

Re: MotBM
Aura blinks a couple times... And then seems to turn more on the chess pieces than on the child. "H-Hey! You can't control me like that!"
With the kid clearly seeming harmless, Aura is focusing her attention more on the chess pieces.
(So, how close are the pieces all together? And assuming it's possible in one turn, how do the pieces seem to react to her defiance? Trying to figure out what's best to do.)

Re: MotBM
They're set up on a board as a single set of pieces (i.e. there's 14 of them; two have presumably been eaten).
"You have an obligation to do your duty! Go! Kill it!"
"Get our men back!"
"Why is this so hard to understand?!"
"We are worthless as an incomplete set!"

Re: MotBM
"My duty?! And what makes you think that's listening to what you're trying to force me to do?!"
"I suppose it's a good thing you're worthless already then... After all, what's a chess set without the pawns?"
"And I'm not about to play that part!"
Attack: 1D20+1 = [14]+1 = 15
1D6+1 = [6]+1 = 7
(So, not sure if I'd have to attack each piece individually, or if Aura is just going to smash her mace in the middle of the table... )

Re: MotBM
((It's entirely up to you! Smashing the middle of the table for an AoE attack is a valid option.
Depending on how you strike you'll be able to hit more or less of them, but they're just lined up in two rows and they aren't moving)).

((Yup. They're magical but otherwise they seem to just be normal chess pieces. You can kick over the table, sweep the pieces onto the floor, pick them up and pocket them - whatever you can do with a normal chess set, you can feasibly do here.))

Re: MotBM
Warryn curses under his breath as Aura starts beating up the chessboard. So much for picking a side!
Still, maybe there was a way to salvage this mess....
"She's right....chess pieces are controlling us! Snap out of it, dwarf!"
((So my new plan is to beat up the chess pieces, give most of them to the boy to eat along a bunch of apologies, and save the queen/king to give to the Dragon lady? She wanted "art" - living sculptures sound pretty close to me!))

The chess set is scattered across the floor, rolling and bumping across the flagstones in a most undignified manner.
"Well I never!"
"This shall not stand!"
"This is most improper"
"This is no way to treat a noble court!"

Art continues to be confused. He will not attack the boy though. Unless the spell forces him to. He will move over to some of the fallen pieces if he can.

(Operating on the assumption she knows she was almost tampered with too.)
Ah'sereen looks to see if she can spot the king.
Perception: 1D20+9 = [17]+9 = 26
