Kroshav bypasses his hand and draws him in for a tight hug.

"You're a good man Jolly. I know we didn't find... find what you were looking for, but I hope the people you did find made the trip worth it. You ever have need of me, get word to anyone of my order, or one of the churches of the Five, and I'll come as soon as I can. And ah, if you and Dama decide you want something more official, and not saying you need to... er ahm, but if in time you do... want like a wedding or something... ah, I'd be honored to do that ceremony. I mean, I've never married anyone before... and if that's not what you guys want, that's fine too, but if you do, I'd love to do it."

He gives a 'harumph', pounds Jolly on the back a few times, and releases him, eyes moist.

The others get hugs and words of thanks as well, letting them know he can be contacted through his order if they have need.

Jolly hugs Kroshav back and says,

"Nah, but maybe ya made me less bad. As lame as it sounds ya, ya the people along the way was what I was looking for. I know ya gonna be a full paladin, ya too good a man for any god not to see that."

He looks over his shoulder at Dama, who winks, and whispers,

"We just met! But ya, I would like that if she wants that in a while. I would like that. Ya are like a brother that I don't hate."

Jolly pulls away and wipes his eyes with his sleeve and then gets busy with his bag.

The group of four leaves with a final wave a few minutes later, leaving the party smaller and less Jolly.

The great woods lay to the north.

((What are you doing now? The golem has a limited run and then needs to recharge but will definitely set a straight course to the 'library'.))

"Yeah, that'd be grand Jolly, let me him know I'm doing well and that I'll be home to visit again, hopefully soon, maybe after this Library adventure, (He then pauses a bit) but life is so random, not sure what might come after that, in all truth. But yes, make sure to tell him I'm doing well and that I miss him and I'm happy to be following in his footsteps and traveling about."

"We gotta be able to keep pace with this thing when we turn it on... Horses won't have trouble, unless it goes into brush they can't follow, but those on foot might be needing to sprint to catch up..."

((Are you planning on allowing indefinite Dash Actions, or doing something like the chase rules where we start needing to do CON saves after multiple rounds of dashing?))

((Horses will absolutely have trouble in the trees, things get pretty dense and dangerous with the roots and all rather quickly. I was thinking of using the chase rules if you really wanted to make a run of it but honestly I thought you'd just activate it a couple times a day to see which way it goes to get your bearings and then just unsummon it after.

Up to you how hard you want to make it!

Speaking to infinite dashes, after a minute people would start needing to make con saves of increasing difficulty after each additional minute of running. The golem would eventually win.))

(So, we are gonna do the on golem, get direction and then off golem, correct?" Once Jaq sees how fast the golem actually moves again, he says while shaking his head, "Who created this thing, a leopard-man mix that can run like the wind?"

"It wasn't made as a guide, it's meant to stay in the library. I'd assume it's this quick so that it can retrieve books without making people wait. Well, I've caught it a couple of times before, so it's not a problem to make it stop, which we'll have to do. Joe I could carry, but the horses are another matter. Well, no point wasting time."

The party doesn't waste time and using the golem as a guide set off into the forest. Each time the golem is summoned it follows the exact same process and it is equally covered in mud and clay that falls away as it moves before it is unsummoned. The trip is very much like the previous excursion and the first three days are completely uneventful. The forest becomes more dense and the going gets tougher, especially for the horses who need to move carefully. The terrain also changes to have more ravines and drops but these are easily circumvented, though on one occasion the golem does make an attempt to climb straight up a cliff rather than go around it before it is unsummoned. It is also definitely chillier than last time, and is getting noticeably colder the closer the group gets to the mountain range but otherwise the weather is rather pleasant. One day is a bit cloudy but the rest are sunny, if not particularly warm.

On the fourth day the reaches a deep, if narrow ravine that heads to the northwest and southeast that can only be the Cut. The golem, when activated, moves along the lip of the ravine and randomly attempts to climb down the ravine. A quick test finds that the golem wants to run along the bottom of the ravine to the northwest but it becomes clear that the ravine isn't as straight as its path because it frequently attempts to climb up and down. Following the ever widening ravine is tricky as in many places its steep banks are unstable and fall away so the group gives it a wide berth and find that the golem always gradually works its way back to the Cut and heads northwest.

On the fifth evening just before the group is planning to call it a night Lurn hears something in the forest to the west. A few somethings actually and the somethings sound like they are trying to be quiet

((What will you do?))

Once Jaq is aware of the threat he will put his cloak hood up and then move to a spot a bit east of the party and hide. He will stay close enough that he can attack with bow if necessary.

Stealth with advantage from cloak: 2D20.HIGH(1)+11 = [19, 2]+11 = 30

When Joe hears there might be danger, she sends Ruby to silently follow Jaq from above and tells him to hoot when he spots trouble.

"Everyone on guard. There are things sneaking around nearby." Focusing hard, Lurn tries to get a feel for any information he can find; voices, footsteps that may suggest a clearer number, such sounds mostly.

Lurn pauses and hears soft crunching in no fewer than four slightly different directions. He also hears a bit of a faint whispered conversation in a language he doesn't understand but is familiar.

Both the crunching and whispering stop as the group tense, or in Jaq's case disappear, after Lurn's warning.
