Re: Running the Monster Gauntlet: Escape (5e)
Fred cuts off their access to the other weapons as Gomz leaves the dead one for Slem to drag and darts back to grab two more swords and retreat.

(Can't grab the handle between it's jaw? Fair )
Gris curses his lack of opposable thumbs for a moment, and makes a reminder that his next form should have that, before slithering back.

The three paddle to the edge of the pool, croaking to one another glare at Fred blocking their way. As they grab the edge, they begin making hacking sounds. The first two spit gobs of phlegm that ignites on contact with the air and sail towards the big snake.

Gnomz's eyes widen with the advent of the flaming gobstoppers. He then ducks his head and, still holding onto the swords, books it towards (and hopefully out of) the door.

The two globs splat near Fred, clinging burning bits landing on his scales as he tries to slither and dodge.

The third narrows its eyes and spits at Fred too.

Yup, so long as it's not leaving others behind.
My game:
Hunters of Letrua; Character list
Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.
My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)

The two mules retreat as well, their skin still painful from where they were splashed with hot water.
Fred retreats as well.

Gnomz tosses the swords onto the body and grabs a limb and starts helping Underslem drag it towards the door.

Underslem pulls for all it is worth and, once all the family is back through, it will close the portal.

Gnomz starts chuckling to itself again. "Hands are neat! Hands are useful!" He gives a look at Fred. "Fred must change soon so that he has hands, too! And look! Sharpies for everyone with hands!"

Gris seems to be doing an angry hiss at the others, given they're in full retreat but probably perhaps going to be chased mode! He'll be retreating to his best abilities, however.

Re: Running the Monster Gauntlet: Escape (5e)
Gris slithers backwards as well, Gomz and Slem dragging the dead enemy are the slow ones of the bunch, not able to move any faster than Gomz rather sedate pace (15ft spd, dash for 30ft).
The three angry amphibians climb out of the steaming hot pool, moving to the pile of gear and equipping their shields. While none of them are able to grab the sword, the one that seems to be dominant croaks the other two forward. They each have a curved dark metal bar at their belts, though they seem more tool than weapon.
((Two of them are currently 10 feet away from the back of the party, the third is 30 feet. If you all were to move maximum (dashing), then Gomz and Slem are going to be left behind, and within dashing of the enemy on their next turn. Maximum dash for Miasma and Sluj in their mule forms with 40 ft speed (80ft) would put them about halfway to the portal. For our purposes, I'm saying you're all roughly equidistant from them at the moment. ))

((I'm viewing this as a hybrid combat/skill challenge/chase, depending on how you guys want to approach it. If you just want to throw down, we can do that, if you just want to run, we can do that, though Gomz little legs slow you guys down a fair bit. Also, should any of you get knocked back to your oblex form, you'd be just as slow as Gomz. If there are any skills that you would like to attempt, just let me know what skill you're doing and give me a roll. Successes will improve things for the party, and failures will make things tougher. Attempting the same skill over and over will result in a higher DC!))
