After she arrived back at the camp, Min started to weave mats out of the grass, as needed, because there aren't enough big leaves. When she has enough leaves/grass mats, she covers the ground of the fire pit with them, having them overlap slightly and instructs the women of the tribe that have been taking apart the bear to lay the bigger chunks of meat (especially ones with bones still in them) onto them. Then she puts more leaves/grass mats onto the meat chunks so they are wrapped pretty tightly. Now the whole package gets covered by Min with earth again.
"Now, if we build the fire on top of all that, the meat will get cooked nice and slow through the heat that permeates the earth layer and the leaves should seal in the juices and aroma nicely. The smaller chunks should be cut into slabs by those who have knives, so they will be finished sooner and I will pound them on this stone with a rock, to make them more tender. If any of you prefer your food tasting hot, I have a nice, spicy paste you can use. Then you can poke a stick through them and roast them over the fire." She explains, sitting down in front of her nice, flat stone near the fire pit, grabbing a rock to use as 'hammer', placing her fire paste down in close vicinity, so people can help themselves to it, feeling almost ready for those slabs of meat. But after all these activities Min really needs a small pause to catch her breath a little. She cranes her neck and looks around to see if she can spot Boe, and whether or not he has brought the things she asked from him.
Min is very happy to be able to sit while she's tenderizing any meat slabs that are handed to her. The collected exhaustion from the long flight the tribe had to undergo, finally caught up with her and she felt her feet aching. Every day they had to travel a long distance in a hurry, to escape their pursuers. Today had not been that much different. But tonight will. Min is really looking forward to having a place to stay, to belong to. To have her own bed and to know that the following night, she will sleep in the very same spot. A smile dawns on her face, and, distracted by her musings, she hits herself on the thumb. Grunting in pain, she quickly shakes her hand, trying to get rid of the hurting sensation, before continuing her duty with the meat slabs. During the evening, she keeps two very large, choice cuts, treats one of them with her fire paste, pins the both of them onto a stick each, and rams the branches at an angle into the earth near the fire. While she continues to beat the meat slabs the other tribe members bring her, she keeps an eye on them, and turns them as needed, so not only they don't get burnt, but they get roasted just perfectly.
Min listens with much interest at the news Yarl has to tell, while she still continues to hit meat slabs with her rock for the tribe and hand them out again. She momentarily stops her work, to crane her neck once more, and as she's not successful in spotting who she's looking for, she puts down the rock and leaves her spot.
"Taking a short break, I'll be right back. Keep those slabs coming." she says.
She doesn't have to search long for the Chief, and when she reaches Elto, she nods at him out of respect, and then comes straight to the point.
"Chief, in the light of what happened to Yarl, I think it would be paramount to our safety, that we didn't let our guard down, just because we plan to make this cave system our new home. We know next to nothing about the surroundings, about the predators that might occupy this valley, or any other danger around. It might have been pure luck that all of us that ventured out there, have returned unharmed so far." Min pauses and a frown creeps onto her face, as the thought crosses her mind that she hadn't seen [tribe member], Durang, Boro or Boe return yet, and that they might still be out there, possibly hurt, or worse, unable to return.
"What I am trying to say is, that, if possible, it would be very wise not to have people wander about unarmed or alone or worse even, both and to have someone stand watch over all of us at night." Min nods again, and awaits any response to her suggestion from the Chief, before respectfully leaving him and Vera to their own devices.
On her way back to the meat pounding stone,
Min makes a point of finding and stopping by Yarl, gently touching his shoulder to get his attention.
"How about you get out your bone flute and play a few melodies for us? I'm sure the tribe could do with something to take their minds off their daily struggle. And it will make the time until you can eat pass faster, too." Min smiles encouragingly at Yarl, and, after sitting down at her 'meat anvil', where a small pile of unpounded slabs has stacked up in her absence,
Min continues her duties and passes the next tenderized slab of meat to him, so he can impale it on a branch and get the roasting process started before his hands will be occupied otherwise.
reposting point system for own convenience
► Show Spoiler
Each player starts with 20 points at the outset of the game. You spend points to ensure the successes of your actions, and regain them by roleplaying well. Bear in mind you don't need to spend points on every post - you can just roleplay "existing" within the tribe and build up points, or even better you can roleplay -not- succeeding a few times, especially on larger actions!
Spending Points:
1 point - simple, short action (lighting a fire, not burning your dinner)
3 points - more complex action (fishing, working on building)
5 points - major action (hunting a larger animal, working on an invention)
10 points - long, extended actions or "Eureka!" moments (progressing your quest, enhancing your character and so on - usually the final point spend after a longer series of actions)
You may spend 5 points to have an NPC act with you/help you, multiple times if necessary (e.g. lead a hunt, direct building - although NPCs will often help out of their own accord during GM updates, they often have their own jobs to do.)
You may spend all your accumulated points to achieve something really awesome/epic, if you have more than 10 available.
You may also spend all your accumulated points to save a life, regardless of how many you have.
Earning Points:
1 Point - Writing a post at least a paragraph in length
1+ points - allocated to all players when a full GM update is posted.
1+ points - allocated by GMs for clever or character-suiting actions, or for humorous or particularly detailed posts (ad hoc)
1+ points - Completion of group or personal quests (ad hoc)
(more things will be added to this list as they are found or are suggested by you the player)
We ask that each player keeps track of their own points at the end of each post, for easy reference. Put them in a spoiler or in your sig if you like, but keep track of them. When we give you extra points, you should add these on to your next post.
eg: ÔÇ£Current Points 20, -5 for large action, +1 for paragraph post. +8 for last GM award. New total 24.ÔÇØ
or: ÔÇ£Current Points: 24. None spent. +1 for paragraph post. New total 25.ÔÇØ
Please note point costs and awards could be subject to change if it seems you aren't getting enough or are getting too many as play goes on.
Also, 'legend': text in color of the char is usually what they say or think (spoken words are in color and between " quotation marks, thoughts are in color and written in Italics).
