CFG and Blueprint. I strongly am against A, as making it one big cavern eliminates a whole bunch of chokepoints and makes it considerably easier to fill the whole area with sand should we end up facing a simoon.

At first I wondered how we have 12 votes for F and only 11 votes on technology, then realized nikhol hadn't voted on if he wants the Tool, Trap, or Blueprint.

Personally I don't see the point of pushing the blueprint techs so fast when tools will probably make it possible to actually make those bigger projects.

Facing a what? And I envisioned it more like a big room with a series of "bubbles" for a floor. I'll draw a cheap mspaint thing for it next post (which I'm working on now, but leaving some time left for Althedia to vote before I post it), which will go up in a few hours.

I'd worry more about cave ins, if you wanted the place filled with sand all at once...

Enjoy my mighty MSPaint-fu. Or something.

Anyhoo, most of the month is spent making a two-thirds dome over the depression so you're sheltered from the harsh desert sun. There's quite a lot of talk about whether to use ALL of the cement for a sealed dome with a goblin-sized entrance, but the decision is reached to keep it at two-thirds with the entrance being where the downdraft winds are strongest. This way, curious explorers see the top of the back of the temple, get close to the edge and get pulled in. Building the dome itself is tedious work, with goblins working in two hour shifts to avoid the heat of the day. More work is done at night, where you hear the sounds of desert wildlife out in the distance (fennecs screaming/barking, lone coyotes, etc). Over time the dome is complete and the temple is shielded from the harsh winds and heat, plus it gives more shade for Pelto plants.

On the surface once the dome is complete you learn that the Cloxis Cement is very heat conductive. Work is done to make a pipe of Cloxis Cement leading from the top of the dome down into the temple and possibly under it and under the three "bubbles" (that have not been dug out there, as their ceilings are the terraces you were exploring) to the village, which is really starting to take shape in the largest of the caves there. More focus is given both to baking mudstone for more permanent bricks, as well as tool making so your goblins have something to work with other than just their hands. To that effect you get the second Blueprint, the Sandglass Forge. Now you can compress sand into sandstone with the mold (which has a press built in) and make glass for lenses, sharp points (like a deadfall by the dome opening) and so on.

Exploring further into the tunnel, you dig out the largest of the caverns. It's not dragon-sized, but it will comfortably hold about four hundred goblins, maybe a little bit more. While working, you uncover a large pit in which is filled a bubbling ooze that smells like someone ate an undead slime and it fought its way back out forcibly. It's perfect for hallucinogen gas for a shaman's visions, though, and discussion is conducted about how best to harness this "Stinky Vaporgas". It's enough that if someone gets too close the fumes will overwhelm. It is unknown if the ooze is just at the bottom of the pit or if there's a tube or path underneath where the ooze is bubbling up from constantly.

Finally, you've discovered life! Towards the far end of the main cavern where you're putting your newly baked bricks into a central foundation for "home", you discovered an underground fungus cave, with giant mushrooms and everything! These mushrooms are edible, and the braver goblins who tasted them report no ill effects. No sign of any Greenwhite Plant to poison the surrounding plants, but no sign of any other kinds of new and unique plants in the fungus cave either. On top of this fungus, you have also discovered what can only be described as a biolucent cockroach as big as a goblin... if tamed, some of these could even be ridable! They excrete "liquid light" that glows a faint white; you can't tell if it's waste products or a byproduct of something else. They are blind, and use feelers to sense surroundings.

WILL YOU...

A) Completely seal over the dome on the surface with just a little opening for the curious?
B) Hollow out the "bubbles" and use the terrace-stone for building material/tunnel building?
C) Focus mostly just on building the village and tending the farms? You're pretty convinced you're alone out here.
D) Attempt to harness the downdrafts, so you can set up traps on the outer rim?
E) Go searching for caves or mines?
F) Attempt to domesticate the Gloaches? ("Glow-roaches")
G) Send search parties out so you can explore the land and see if there's anything else out there?

I should be at 40% but people forgot to add my votes in. Still, as I selected as the majority, it doesn't affect the write-up at all.
