Re: the Realm will be silent no longer!
The "Ears... Oh gods, Ears. What have you done?" line is still a mistery to me, but I think it's related with Young and Beautiful's prophecy, or maybe a plot twist involving the demon trapped inside the Axe of Prissan...

No, I'd bet Thunt put those two together to deliberately mislead us. Be not lead astray by the mysteries of Thunt, for there is a true path that we mortal men (and Kore) cannot see -- for as is written, "Thunt will cloud the minds of the mortal and unworthy, and their thoughts will lead to madness (like thinking the Kore has nine eyes)." Praise Thunt, Praise Danielle.notimportant wrote:If this is Ears to Complains after he's gone overboard with his barbarian rage...There is a fine line between fury and evil. Find it. Re: the Realm will be silent no longer!
Let's try to do it differently:
I've tried toc ompile a list of characters which could be saying something on the current page, and see if that gives me other hints as who could be saying what.
currently active characters:
Forgath
Minmax
Big Ears
Complains of Names
Thaco
Fumbles (Senor Vorpal Kickass'o)
Dies Horribly
Saves a Fox
Biscuit
Junior
characters which may be active, but the story left them behind:
Kin
others:
Kore (not a character actively followed by the view of the story line, but currently involved with one group)
Duv, the White Terror
Grem
Yodette/Tuck/Baka; Tryst Drow'den/Drasst Don'tsue/Seth Bainwraith (in a new re-incarnation, of course)

I've read it.. It's an interesting theory.. but the shield of wonder isn't broken now? ^_^Krulle wrote:You don't need to.
But most of us have been missing the speculation part of the forum discussions.
You can do only so much while SoW effect #88 is working....
I usually try not to think and speculate too much (I'm not very good at guessing thunt's thinking, but that's the reason also because i enjoy so much this comic), but there is one thing that is disturbing me (evenf if it was expected) from the speeches on the wall... If it is true that it is junior saying that thing in the green bubble, this means that it learned how to speak and that it should be more and more similar to a bipede creature now...
brrr... I don't want to have a chat with him

Re: the Realm will be silent no longer!
I don't see Junior speaking, more like thinking.
And Junior already spoke once, although that was before he separated himself from Dies Horribly ( http://www.goblinscomic.com/10022012/ )
That's why we try to guess. Only one in two hundred guesses is close to the target.
Speculating if someone always gets it right is no fun.
And it proves how well-thought out the story line is.

Most of us are bad at speculating what THunt's storyline will include in the future.EffettoNotte wrote:I usually try not to think and speculate too much (I'm not very good at guessing thunt's thinking, but that's the reason also because i enjoy so much this comic),

Re: the Realm will be silent no longer!
Complains hasn't done anything evil yet. But he has been a bit quick to anger after he turned part-demon. There might be some gradual change going on, which will eventually turn into a conflict with Ears.Biscuit wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember in any moment Complains being evil with someone, even during his barbarian rage, I think if this line should be related with someone, then it should be Minmax, who is kinda good, but we already saw him being evil (you know, for attacking the goblins clan...) and also has barbarian rage.notimportant wrote:If this is Ears to Complains after he's gone overboard with his barbarian rage...There is a fine line between fury and evil. Don't forget Scrole, Ora, Takn and Pan/Yala! The "fine line between fury and evil" line could be Scrole to Takn.Krulle wrote:I've tried toc ompile a list of characters which could be saying something on the current page, and see if that gives me other hints as who could be saying what.

Currently it looks like Minmax will follow the GAP, but Forgath may be on his own.... :(
And yes, THunt hinted at us seeing the noob-party a few times more. They might be a kind of running gag. Spawning at the wrong time and place, every single time.

Re: the Realm will be silent no longer!
A couple quick things.... first and foremost, can anyone get me a link to the map of the world that Thunt drew once?... I just can't find it for some reason now.
Second, am I the only one who believes that Kore could be the last remaining Paladin from the group of clerics and paladins who forged the Axe of Prissan? (Big Ears' axe)
The background stories seem to mesh well in my mind. Consider the following:
- Axe is cursed (because it houses an evil demon) but is created as a curse, but as a last ditch effort to imprison the demon because it cannot be killed. The catch being it must perpetually be kept in good and holy hands. But the demon is still there, trying to escape, its evil bleeding out which was how Ears "felt" and eventually "found" it. It was created by the surviving (thus probably the strongest) 9 paladins and 1 cleric (from an original 81 and 22) and its very crafting killed 8 of those paladins plus the cleric. The death of its creators in addition to the limited nature of its effectiveness as a prison suggest that it is (at the very least) flawed.
- Kore is known to the world as the "cursed" Paladin. But he does believe he is cursed, he believes he is gifted so that he can cleanse the world of all evil. He perpetually needs to hunt down every last creature that he sees as "evil". Even if they are "innocent", he is allowed to eradicate the perpetual "potential for evil" without losing his Paladin status. As such, Kore is seen as "flawed" since he commits acts that should have revoked his Paladin status, but it almost seems as if its more, as if he compelled to constantly hunt his prey.
Would it be a stretch to suggest that in the forging of the axe so many years ago, that the remaining Paladin was "cursed" or "gifted" a certain connection with the axe, along with an obligation? Anything possible to avoid letting this demon loose again? Perhaps an elongated lifespan to match that of the axe? Perhaps an obsessive driving compulsion to eradicate anything and everything evil (which over the centuries develops into watching, time and again, a tolerance for someone else who committed an evil act turn into them performing evil acts as well?) giving latitude for the Paladin to stretch his actions to where (in his mind) the end will justify the means, allowing the Paladin status to remain intact. Beyond that, Kore seems to "imprison" his victims (as seen by the heads on chains), perhaps the same way the axe imprisoned the demon?
Yes, the axe does come into contact with Kore before his comment about the it, but I still feel that there is the potential for a deeper history, that the two are linked.
I dont know, but I'm anxious to find out! I also think that somehow, we might not have seen the last of Chief, and he will come back as a result of the battle between Forgath and Kore. I also think that the demon inside the Axe will be released and become the climatic "we saved the world forever somehow" conclusion to the story.

No, you're not, there have been more proposing this theory. it's as good as any and, IMHO, one of the more likely ones.MakesNoSense wrote:Second, am I the only one who believes that Kore could be the last remaining Paladin from the group of clerics and paladins who forged the Axe of Prissan? It also seems to imply that Kore had a history with the axe prior to that event! It also seems to suggest given the life spans of various owners, and given that Saral Caine took the axe from a female Paladin (likely the human Dri in the story), that Kore's history with the axe spreads over a long period of time.

Woah!
Site format just altered on the last refresh.
*tests several more times*
Okay, sometimes there's a clickable dropdown menu over the page that I can't close. Well, the text needs realigning on some of the linked pages too.
The background looks awesome, though now the page is too wide to display on my monitor without using the horizontal scroll bar. I'm going to try changing the resolution so I can admire it all. I can really see the different in art quality he mentioned!
Overall, looks pretty cool.
Hopefully the comic update follow shortly.
