They could run into Yalla and Pan etc inside the dungeon; could be some casters in that group!

If you look below the maw, there's a slot that the axe-blade on it's lower-lip fits into. Some switch that it presses.
I assumed they Complains was standing and ears turning to address whatever that activated.

Hey, woah, first of all: outside the realm of cinema, Georgie is a real cool dude who uses his billions to stick up for the little man. Those billions, by the way, were made from suckering the original Star Wars producers out of merchandise rights. The money made from Special Edition Star Wars is an armful in his Olympic-sized money pool. Speaking of which, I agree that there are some true benefits, like putting pilots in the spaceships with visible cockpits. (And not to get your hopes up, but rumors abound of Disney finally giving in to fan demand...) In fact, the thing you're most wrong about is that I've probably never even seen "pure" Star Wars. My dad only ever showed me his Hong Kong bootlegs (he refuses to admit that's what they are) of the Special Editions. Although my Nolan-esque preference for not-CGI whenever possible is an indication that you'd probably be right if I did grow up on the Theatrical Editions.willpell wrote:snipLurks_In_Shadows wrote:snippity
But the lack of choice is exactly what I meant by that remark: not trusting us to pick & choose which version to watch has been icing on the prequels cake that has poisoned Lucas's reputation as a filmmaker. At the very least, Thunt would need to offer an archive for the original uploads and the finished versions each. And if he really were to go through that much trouble, I certainly trust him more than the mind that created Jar Jar Binks.

You're not the only one who wants the originals compared to glossed versions side by side.BuildsLegos wrote:At the very least, Thunt would need to offer an archive for the original uploads and the finished versions each.
Sometimes THunt left the old versions on his site, and if I saw them I linked to them in the transcriptions thread. Happened mostly during the "external artist doing the shading" time....

I'm pretty sure MM is gonna pull Oblivious out in this room, given the last time we see it taken by a future MM there's a red glow in the background. Probably the "foyer" of the Maw.

I think of it as a reasonable way to reduce wall-of-textiness in a prolonged argument, although it is more acceptible on a forum where the quoteblocks function as links back to previous posts, which is not the case on this particular forum software.Lurks_In_Shadows wrote:(Also, isn't clipping out someone's arguments like that against netiquette? What I tend to do when a conversation is getting lengthy and/or deeply nested is edit quoted text down to the sentences or paragraphs I am actually responding to -- as you did here, Willpell.willpell wrote:I think of it as a reasonable way to reduce wall-of-textiness in a prolonged argument, although it is more acceptible on a forum where the quoteblocks function as links back to previous posts, which is not the case on this particular forum software.Lurks_In_Shadows wrote:(Also, isn't clipping out someone's arguments like that against netiquette? The word 'snip' as a placeholder for edited-out text is an old Usenet convention. Unexceptionable when frequently used, it can sound abrupt and a bit rude where it's not a local custom. This forum doesn't seem to use it much. What I have seen instead, when the snip is so deep that a placeholder is required, is a short reference to the content of the omitted text.

I've never used Usenet (nor have I netted it, for that matter), but I've seen "snip" used in other contexts often enough. It honestly didn't occur to me that it might be viewed as unusual here.Sessine wrote:What I tend to do when a conversation is getting lengthy and/or deeply nested is edit quoted text down to the sentences or paragraphs I am actually responding to -- as you did here, Willpell.willpell wrote:I think of it as a reasonable way to reduce wall-of-textiness in a prolonged argument, although it is more acceptible on a forum where the quoteblocks function as links back to previous posts, which is not the case on this particular forum software.Lurks_In_Shadows wrote:(Also, isn't clipping out someone's arguments like that against netiquette? I sure hope not. Thunt would take particular joy in picking off the slightly-bigger group, one by one...Synch wrote:They could run into Yalla and Pan etc inside the dungeon; could be some casters in that group!
I guess Goblins is a toss-up for the fans. You want your favourite characters to get more screen-time, because they're awesome... but at the same time, you don't want them to reappear ever again or they might die. Not that that helped any of them who could probably die off-screen.

@Lurks: If you're curious, Lucas is one of the few entertainment people on the Forbes 400, at #114. He's worth 4.5 Billion. Not too shabby, I think.
Thunt did say there was going to be a wizard, soonish, didn't he? Doesn't help in the healer department, but it's still cool. I think Fumbles needs to take his next level in cleric only if they want to get out of the dungeon.

One possibility is he repeats what Forgath said about Kore being the last of the Greyhill Paladins...TheGreatOldOne wrote:Good point, didn't notice that at first.spiderwrangler wrote:Although, he'll need to say 'grey' first.
Could be Kin for all we know, she has said she has magic of some sort on several occasions. Or it could be that other monster adventuring party (how are we going to refer to them? OMAP?)RocketScientist wrote:@Lurks: If you're curious, Lucas is one of the few entertainment people on the Forbes 400, at #114. He's worth 4.5 Billion. Not too shabby, I think.

This is the turning point. MM should have learned by now that Goblins are people; what he doesn't know is that they are Kin's friends as well. If they don't become allies here, the comic will end in tragedy and Kin will make a nice speech over their bones. If they DO, all bets are off. Together they are unbeatable.

Re: January 7th 2015, Inside the Maw
Why? He wasn't there for Brassmoon's prison break, Kin didn't tell him that these are the same goblins that freed her, and he found that scroll that told him goblins were going to use the White Terror to take over the world. His only experience with goblins (assuming there weren't any in the MoM we didn't see) was the warcamp attack, in which Complains gave him that eye scar and swore to kill him. So what exactly has happened to him to change his mind?EatsAPeach wrote:This is the turning point. MM should have learned by now that Goblins are people

Yep, even Forgath changed his mind are regretfully decided that the goblins must be evil after reading the scroll. If it fooled Forgath, I don't know how we would expect MM to figure it out. I think we are relying on waaaaay too much metagaming when we talk about MM realizing that the goblins aren't evil. From his point of view, everything he has seen points to the goblins being evil (mostly the scroll). He now knows that not all monsters are evil, but he hasn't changed his mind about them, and he has no reason to. More than likely he'll only realize they aren't evil due to some action on Big Ears' part and/or he will be so distraught after losing Forgath and Kin that he won't put up a fight and that will give the rest of the goblins time to reassess the situation.
Oh, and Thunt mentioned both a fighter and a wizard that would be joining the group soon, but he seemed to be implying that he was eager to finally introduce these characters, which makes it sound like the will be entirely new.

Keeping this up until the Kore mystery is resolved: paladins do not get their powers from deities, and D&D does not operate on subjective morality.

Re: January 7th 2015, Inside the Maw
While I do agree that Minmax's preexisting feelings towards the Goblins need to be reconciled, I am reminded of a theory (perhaps from a previous forum) that the player behind Minmax is a clever metagamer. Minmax Prime, as I will dub him here, is a game-breaker. He's created a super-powered warrior who defies the logic, and considers things like urinating on the sword of a god's underling, or creating oblivious. Not long after he learned that Herbert granted XP for good role-playing he rebelled against the narrative presented by Herbert to create a compelling story for his character rather than follow the more safe plot in which he would follow an experienced adventurer.YardMeat wrote:I think we are relying on waaaaay too much metagaming when we talk about MM realizing that the goblins aren't evil.
Each of these examples is explained away by Minmax's lack of intelligence or forethought, but an unintelligent player would be more likely to accept the perks given to him by Herbert rather than fighting against it.
