Coming Character Poll

There has been debate about the race of the new female character seen in this post.

The options I've provided assume a 3.5 Core Player Race. I would love to hear the reasoning behind your answers, especially if you think she's some sort of half/half race, or one I haven't listed.

I think elf is a good call, but:

1. Unless the guy with her in the first image is part giant, she's pretty short.
2. In the first image, she's got a distinctive Hobbit-like pipe.
3. She has pigtails much like Danielle sometimes wears. Danielle has a penchant for playing halflings.

So, on those counts, I'd vote halfling. Except halflings have human-like round ears. Is there such a thing as a half-halfling? (Would that be a quarterling?)

Quarterings are a thing, but that still wouldn't explain the ears. The only things on said list that have long ears are elves.

Elves are not tall in D&D. They're shorter than humans. That could be a tall human male and an average ish elf female (6'6 and 5'0) without either being "unusually sized for their race"

I was going to say that in Thunt-world, the elves we've seen all seem to be roughly human-height. But when I went looking for references I ran across this page. So... um. There are short elves, apparently. This new character could indeed be one.

I do like the idea of halfling better than elf still, on the basis of the pipe, the mischievous grin, and, I dunno, the general posture: impudent, nimble. (Since we haven't seen Thunt-world halflings yet, we can't say for sure about halfling ears.)

But then, something about her upper lip looks decidedly cat-like, so she might not be any player-handbook race. If not, what could she be?

I could try a balloon animal, but really I'm no good at those.

If you mean what are they, they're clearly tattoos. She's covered in them. But they don't match up to Viper Clan warrior history markings or anything else I can recall from the comic. I think, like the heart on her cheek, they're just something her player liked.

What interests me more are the Rob Liefeld pouches.

I mean, that costume outfit is clearly inspired by the likes of Cable. Which is probably a good indication that we're looking at the creation of the same mind that turned Drizzt into Drowbabe.

I don't know if that means it's a scene jump to some new location or if we're actually about to witness a reunion of sorts.

That panel could go with the following dialog:

"Holy crap! Forgath? You're still alive?! We've been killed twice!"
"Shh. You're not supposed to know him. " (There's no such thing as Japan...)
" Oh, right. But... What the heck happened to you, Fo - uhm, strange dwarf I have never met before? "

Hmm. Tallish-halfling or shortish-elf seems most likely to me.

I think it could be a gnome (still...a pretty tall one with weirdly long ears) or maybe a half-goblin/half-human.

I like the idea of her being a halfling, but given that we have been clearly told by a Reputable Source (tm) that one of them is a Wizard (and that sure don't look like Bowst) then I am inclined to think that Gnome and Elf are both much more likely options. Not that a Halfling Wizard is impossible of course, but the other two races both fit much better for that class.
