March 27, 2015: Balls To The Wall

Post by Aegis J Hyena » Thu Mar 26, 2015 11:29 pm

Thunt must have been waiting years to use those jokes...

Still... "Bowst" (a play on the word Boast? Maglubiyet help us if he and MM get into a boasting contest...)... heh. Nice name. Wonder if these two are the return of the "bad players" (the last couple to be eaten by Junior).

And I see Idle is a Viper, given the white skin... maybe a former Viper, seeing she travels with humans?

Reminder: Forgath's player is a girl.

Still not sure what species the new girl is, but they don't seem to have recognized Forgath, so probably not the Drow party.

Well, this was definitely worth waiting a month for. But it doesn't look as if either of these two was the speaker, so there must be a third individual wandering (or more likely sneaking) around here. I'd say the odds of this being the former Drow party are looking decent.

Wonder what the final version of Bowst's sword is going to look like; it appears to be transparent (a fantasy lightsaber?).

Does that really matter to the testicle joke somehow?

What I am curious about is how these characters know of the Kliks already. They don't seem to upset about seeing them, them being killed... a few times... by those balls already.

I have no idea. Some game (non dnd) term?

Noticing now that Forgath has some Klik spots filled in on his armoured hand-tank. Did the Klicks fix that as well?

No, it doesn't matter to the joke itself. But I thought it was fun to imagine the conversation at Herbert's table.

I hadn't caught it myself, but Bowst is almost certainly pronounced "boast," making this team "idle boast." Which isn't a specific reference so much as a pun, much in the vein of the Axe of Prissan and the Hammer of Jale.

I noticed her eyes willowed in panel two, could she be part-goblin? And I mean that a bit more literally than normal since she's "kinda normal".

EDIT: Also, in panel four (top-right corner), you can see Bowst's balls waving at him in the background.

Her hair? Shading may make it clearer.

I'm still wondering who spoke before, telling Forgath he needed to shut up. It's clear these two hadn't seen him before. It seems our idle boast may be up against an invisible threat.

Goblins don't grow facial hair, but female goblins do have hair - look at Saves a Fox, and the White Terror.

That said, her tattoos are definitely not Viper.

Yes, female goblins have hair, but hers seems unusual. Her ponytails are oddly shaped, don't seem to behave normally, and are a different color than the rest of her hair, regardless of her position.

The costume definitely makes me think this is Tryst's player again. And her "laughing out loud at inappropriate humor" face looks exactly like Kin's.

Junior wasn't mostly a ball when he killed them....maybe at first he was, but he introduced himself to the party by shooting a hand out at considerable distance to kill Tuck (much as Klik killed Drasst), and then by the time he did in Yodette, he was trying to become humanoid in shape. Baka was probably the only one who might have gotten a strong impression of him being spherical, if he ever was. But it's still weird that he's claiming the Kliks as his property.

That's what I meant. They're also textured and coloured differently than her fringe/bangs are, even pre-shading.

And as previously mentioned, she has eyebrows and a nose, which even female goblins have previously not been shown to have... Something's definitely up with her, she's not full goblin, unless she's been altered or she's got Se├▒orita Vorpalina stuck-on eyebrows.

It's probably furry "the muddler" ears. That was the first thing I thought actually... "Hey, did they go to Mumin Valley now?"

Several months ago Thunt talked about these characters in a post, I remember him saying one of the characters is a fighter (I'm assuming that's Bowst), but I don't remember what he said about the other one, can anyone track that post down?

AC/DC because of the song they linked to in their post, I'd wager. (Not that there's anything wrong with the titular post's namesake tune... I do prefer AC/DC myself though)

Hobgoblins don't have eyebrows either, although we haven't seen a female yet (unless there was one in Brassmoon's dungeon that I'm forgetting.)

I at first thought this was a fur mantle worn about (and, mostly, above) her shoulders, Kraven-the-Hunter-style. Especially looks that way in the panel where she's crouching down to pick up her pipe.

Am I the only one who remembers that at most 20% of kliks - at MOST - eat metal? There are probably just as many Kliks with crystal as their positive.

He said a fighter and a wizard were joining, plus he posted a bunch of pictures of Warforged. I'm still hoping that'll turn out to be the third member of the group. Maybe Tuck's player is playing a Stealthforged Scout, which is why Forgath didn't see him when he talked.
WastesTime wrote:AC/DC? How exactly? What I immediately had stuck in my head was Accept's classic :)
Accept gives us the title of this thread, but AC/DC is a better fit for the comic itself (in which a wall plays no significant role).

Her facial stripe tattoos are Viper clan, the rest are not. Then again, she is probably the wizard THunt foreshadowed coming along. The other tattoos could be magical in nature.

The pigtails remind me of backwards, furry, horns. They don't move like normal hair and are currently shaded like they are semi-stiff and regularly shaped.

I do like that she is so amused she drops her pipe twice.
