In that case, we have to assume that the spliying "poem" is something Minmax came up with himself, because Thunt edited it so it doesn't rhyme...which doesn't fit, because Forgath says it is a dwarven ritual so he told Minmax about it... If he can just say stuff that rhymes as long as someone else told him first, then he could say the poem properly.

Meh. It's not spoiling my enjoyment in any way, it is just mildly inconsistent (or if not inconsistent, then confusing) - it doesn't really matter, though. I'm more interested to see what's next in the dungeon :3

Bet if he could repeat otherman's rhymes, why can't he recite a poem like "I' a little teapot"?
Because he knows it should rhyme?

Or Forgath told it to him right once, and he just forgot, but remembered the intent of the lines... and tried to come up with it and slightly missed the mark?

Spider's answer is pretty much the only one that makes sense - Forgath probably got fed up of correcting him. A panel of "I told you, it's short and STOUT...oh forget it..." would have cleared that up at spliying time in the MoM, but it also would have broken the flow of the recitation of the poem, so. That works for me re: spliying, but I'm still calling cheese on '...except names!' for the rhyme limitation explanation. </stubborn>

Or Forgath was just so amused by MM's version of the poem that he nodded along and told him he got it exactly right.

Or Forgath knew about Minmax's inability to rhyme on purpose, and told him that version from the get-go.

Saying two words that happen to rhyme, is different than *intentionally* thinking up and using a particular word to follow another word, BECAUSE it rhymed with that word.

This is how I imagined it worked for minmax. I never imagined that his "inability to rhyme on purpose" meant he was physically incapable of saying things that rhymed. Ie, Id imagine that if you asked minmax to say "red bed", hed be able to say "red bed" without having a complete and utter mental breakdown rendering him literally incapable of saying "red bed". I simply imagined his inability to rhyme "on purpose" meant hed be incapable of THINKING up things that rhymed on his own, "because they rhymed".
"hey minmax, what rhymes with red"
"Potato. Pretty sure potato rhymes with bed"
"lol minmax, no"
"Well how the crap should i know? Do i look like some kind of.... rhyming.. nerd to you?! Youre a rhymerd!"

I agree. I think Thunt is just having trouble explaining the rhyming rules. I think that Minmax can't come up with his own rhymes, and that he can't recite rhymes. But he can say things that coincidentally rhyme.

No: Big Ears is a lovely fellow. He's short, he's brave, he's also yellow.

"Which, sir? Mello Yello?"
"Yeah, that one. Marble Yellow."
"Mello Yello?"
"Yeah! The fizzy one! I'm pointing right at it!"
"Ah yes, a popular choice."
"Finally. Just give me my Mello Orange."
"Here is your Mello Yello, sir...that's fine armour you have there, by the way."
"Whatever, stop being a dink. I'd get it myself except this stupid anymug won't summon the right thing for some reason..."

True enough, although I like to imagine that Minmax can't even -think- in rhyme. Hee hee.

And yet, such is the case with many allergies. For instance, if you manage to convince someone that they just ate something they were allergic to, in many cases they will get a full-blown allergic reaction complete with swollen throat, red eyes, etc., and they may even actually need medical attention, even though they actually never ingested the substance to begin with. That doesn't make the allergy any less real, it just shows that ailments can be more complicated than we think.
Another example is placebos, and now they've even discovered that the placebo effect will work Even When The Patient KNOWS That the medicine was a placebo. They have no idea why though.

Yup! That's the nocebo effect, the placebo's opposite.

An excellent point A key aid in the memorization of poems and songs is the presence of rhyming words to tie lines together. Someone incapable of rhyming would have a much more difficult time learning a song.

Minmax: "How did the line end that came after 'short and stout'? Was something about it being green?"
Forgath: "Green? The song doesn't mention the color. What color would possibly rhyme with 'short and stout'?"
Minmax: ".... Umm... Red?"

How Forgath learned Minmax can't rhyme.

Just had an interesting thought, or theory even... Their talking, and talking loudly, is a strategy to keep monsters at bay!

All monsters in the Goblins realm are self-aware that they are monsters, and for especially those inside a dungeon crawl, that their fate in life is to meet their demise at the hands of an adventurer. So, what is a monster going to do when they can HEAR such adventurers coming...?

Unless a monster is obligated to stand and fight (i.e. Noe), one might almost expect our Goblins and MM to walk through this dungeon nearly monster-free (as long as they keep talking). Now traps, on the other hand...

And the exit may lead directly to the Chasm of Curses, as you might miss indications where the real exit is...

(I assume we'll encounter a dungeon with multiple exits sooner or later)
