Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Thunt hinted at this silent update (or rather the upcoming one) on twitter a few days:
Quoting:
"(Singing)
Hello Thaco my old friend.
I've come to draw you here again."
Very cool room! I love how the door silently slammed shut.
I wonder if those one legged robots will have a part in it, or are they just decoration.
I wonder if the Goblins+MM are physically next room (I doubt it), or is this some magic of the room which shows a crack to whoever you are thinking of (more likely).
I wonder if Parchement's ability to be paper thin will allow him to fly through the crack (or did I just assume this ability?).
I wonder what are the little white brain like drawings inside the circles on the walls.
And most of all, I wonder how will Kin get out!

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Why would Kin walk into a dead end? You can see the far wall ahead of her before she crosses the threshold of the door. Also, the far wall looks like it has a face on it. I wonder if it is in some way similar to the one the GAP entered the dungeon through? http://goblinscomic.com/comic/01082015
Hopefully this doesn't lead to Kin seeing Minmax and the GAP, but them walking past with no way for her to signal them... But she's smarter than that. Kin will work it out!

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Looking at the page again, I am certain the room's magic was triggered by her thoughts.
Their conversation became audible as soon as she thought about MM, but it is clearly not the beginning of their conversation. If they had been next door she would have heard the beginning of the conversation.
and that reminds me - I love how her first thought after realizing she is trapped is about MM, and not about how she is doomed or regret.

It makes sense she would walk into the room. She had no reason to think she wouldn't be able to step back, so she might as well take a closer look at the room.Shardstorm wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 3:13 pm Why would Kin walk into a dead end? Good thinking about the wall face - maybe its a secret door.

You always check the dead end rooms/alcoves. You never know when they have secret doors leading to treasure and/or a boss fight.
I love how her first thought is of Minmax, too.

Wow! Minmax came in right on cue!
I feel like those decs on the wall facing give a clue to the secret of the room, but I just can't figure out what they are.

Wow, a room of silence. How convenient. Also, what is with all the "crap, crap" and "sonofacrap" stuff? You can show someone being brutally tortured but you can't say shit?

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Wow that update took a long time for relatively simple art. (by Goblins standards)
Did Thunt have more surgery or something? Or a holiday hopefully?.
Just hope its not a re-resurgence of his over-critical redrawing a hand a million times problem.
That aside, pretty page. Moving the story ahead again. Yay.
EDIT: Those circles on the walls with the little whitey bit in the middle........ They look like mouths with pointy sharp teeth. Given the link to mouths already by the "talking curse" I'm thinking the walls might get bitey soon.

Yeah, he had follow up exploratory brain surgery. Just to check that everything is all good. Which it is. So that's good. I'm expecting it to go back to the somewhat regular schedule he's stuck to recently.

Apart if we missed a bit of her exploration since she let Kore fall down (which is entirely possible!), it should be from this way the paladin came from, so not really a dead-end.

I wonder if the colors of the lights on what I want to call Pixar Golems relates to the IME colors the fog room copied.

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Technically, it can be a dead end. Remember the door golem, that provided a portal through to another corridor? If Kore came through one of those doors, he was probably dropped into what is a dead end as soon as the golem takes the dorr away again. Of course Kin cannot know that, so she wouldn't expect a dead end.Bapuvitttssf wrote: ↑Tue May 15, 2018 12:09 am Apart if we missed a bit of her exploration since she let Kore fall down (which is entirely possible!), it should be from this way the paladin came from, so not really a dead-end.
But then, it makes no sense for her to go into the direction Kore came from. She knows Kore is looking for Minmax, just as she is. Obviously, he hasn't found Minmax in the direction he came from, so Kin is unlikely to find him there either. Especially since she knows Minmax was in the room where she entered the dungeon. Had he chosen the way she's following, he would have met Kore before she did. After dropping Kore down that pit, the only sensible action for her would have been to pass back over the pit, go back to where she teleported in and choose a different door there.

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Previous time we saw Kin, she was watching into the abyss. Now she's entering this room. It means that there's no evidence she didn't return to the round room upstairs.
If she did, she obviously chose another door. Thus, Kore has never been here, and it really may be a dead end. May be not.
Although, if I'm right, why was these scenes skipped?
As for Minmax and (probably) Vorpal conversation, I suppose that they just have entered their respective room, and Kin simply wasn't able to hear them before. Occam's razor, yup.

Two parties on different paths through a crawl that are on opposite sides of a wall and can hear each other, this remind you of somewhere?
Also I wonder if the dummies are going to react to things GAP&MM have to say bout Kin, or her feelings towards them. Like a typical barbarian adventurer would be all "Rar yeah opponents to fight!" an set off a violent reaction.

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Mh, not the standard way a silence spell works. Silence as a spell creates a zone that makes it impossible to make sounds in the affected area, but also to have sounds go through the affected area. So this is not a room that creates has a "silence zone", but something weaker, or different, instead.
I feel smart, but I'm pretty sure I'm an idiot.

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Well, Kin doesn't know the cause exactly either:
"It seems to be enveloped in a magical zone of silence."
"It seems that nothing in here can produce sounds." (<- And here, she even didn't expect sounds from outside not to be able to enter that zone, which may be an hint about how silence spells work in THunt world).

If she can get a message to Minmax they could try Spliying to find her a way out.

Not so much "can't" as "doesn't", depending on the situation. At the right time, it can have some impact, instead of constantly spewed.

Hey! Why are you reading this? It's bad for your eyes, and there's nothing to see here; no words of wit or sage like advice.... Nope, none of that crap... Still here? Well, I guess you can stay for a little while, but no touching. Ok, MAYBE a little bit of touching, but don't expect a kiss... Oh, and don't expect me to cuddle afterwards, either. This is purely physical in nature, and you can't REALLY want something serious after everything we've been through? Fine... 20 seconds of heavy petting, and that's IT! Annnnnnnd done...

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
As a side note, one of the problems Goblins has sometimes is over explaining stuff. All Ears had to say is "it's okay, I can make a safety rope." He didn't need to explain the steps involved, we can get that from seeing how he's going to throw the Axe with a rope attached.Catmandont wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 10:04 am

Kin starts thinking "that's going to make spell casting difficult"
I don't know DND rules, but wouldn't silence make spell casting *impossible* and not "just" difficult?

You have spells that don’t need sound/speaking, and a spell that allows you to cast other spells without talking (if you’ve prepared it I think).

Re: 14 May 2018: Strongerest, Dummy.
Let's take a moment to talk about the obvious trap -- the statues holding orbs.
In each pair (one on each side, as she moves forward), one side is holding the orb color of the statue across from it, while the other side is holding the matching orb for a statue in a different pair. There also seems to be enough space between the pairs to change sides without crossing the view of the statues (ala Never Ending Story).
And the blood... the blood on the wall after the first pair, on the side of the non-matching statue, leads me to think that crossing in front of a statue holding an orb that doesn't match the eye of the statue across it will gibs the character.
Does that make sense?

She already crossed the statues though. She's in the room beyond the statue room when the door shuts and she's engulfed in silence.
I'm not sure she has the Silent Spell feat/ability, but if she did, I don't think she'd be as worried.
