Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Well, I would like to nominate Theis for his keeping Merric generally insane and incomprehensible. Makes for an entertaining read...

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
That'll be a lot of inspiration points
The idea is to reward a specific action rather than characteristics, but yes, if Merric does something particularly zealous then go ahead and nominate it

Damn, seems I really sabotaged myself by going full crazy from the get go
But thanks for the nomination, I hope I get to truly live up to it later

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Lol! Nah, you just have to act on it in zealous ways speaking of, do I have your character sheet somewhere with your ideals, bonds, flaws etc? I think you made a myth-weaver's sheet but not sure...
Also, is anyone using d&d beyond at all? I'm trialling the free version at the moment and it looks pretty decent for character creation and management (though the extended content is behind a paywall). I don't think there's much for dms right now, but might be worth a look. I'm just not sure I want to spend too much on it all yet when I have the hard copy books...

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
I've been trying to think what Kal would make of that. Disrespecting his god is bad, of course. But he's out in the world to learn about other cultures and ways of seeing things. But a dweller of the deep that doesn't recognize the gods as gods sounds like demon worship. He's going to need to have a talk with Merric tonight. If I can remember. If I'm able to post. Still really wrecked. But I'm thinking he'll ask politely for more information about this god, trying to keep an open mind, and hoping it's not what he fears it is.Theis2 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 7:14 am What you have heard from Merric is a bit blasphemeous as he just denounced the known and well respected gods. He has reffered to his god as the true god and dweller of the deep, a god no one knows and Merric might be the only one regarding it as a god (that's up to Thinks).
How far behind are we from the other group? Are we going to continue trying to find the lizard tribe or are we going to go back to check in with the rest of the party?

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
You're about one full day behind the other group, who may or may not be Somewhere Else right now.
Otherwise, that sounds like an interesting conversation - if you want to have it here in the OOC now, I'm totally fine with that. I can collate the whole things together in due course for an update when the IC game gets to the next camp.
...Assuming neither Kal nor Merric is dead by then. If that happens, we'll just assume it happened through the day or something

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Since things are a little scattered in the thread at the minute, here's the state of things:
1. Kal is waiting on a response from Merric about gods.
2. Artho is waiting on a reply from Korrik about the path onwards.
3. Korrik and Merric are arguing over where to go
4. Looks like the consensus in the druid group is to wait for the elders. Is there anything specific you want to do in the meantime?

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
You saw the direction the bird flew in for sure, and could figure out it must have been fairly close, because it's a bird and probably not very adept at untying knots.
So you didn't see exactly where it came from, but it's nothing a survival-check and a bit of perceiving wouldn't help with if you wanted to start looking

((Ok, I try not to inundate you with unasked for rolls. ))
I pull free the stick I'd untied the cloth from and head in the direction that the bird flew, using the stick to prod the swampy ground when I reach the edge of the dry(ish) land.
Survival; Perception: 1D20+2 = [7]+2 = 9
1D20+2 = [17]+2 = 19

It's all good, I tend to wait for some indication of what you'd like to try and do before I ask, so we're probably getting stuck into a catch 22

Varsk doesn't really have much to do at the druid camp so he would probably chat a bit with Tam and their other guide if he can be found.

@Rodgeir - not at this little camp, no if you're looking to spar, the large guy (whose name has left me) would probably give you a run for your money, if not actual training

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
I play a battlemaster fighter in another RL campaign and those are the three I picked too. I love parry and riposte. Being able to hit someone back just for daring to TRY and hit you is just fucking fun. Trip is great for getting advantage on a next melee attack, or for slowing them down or forcing an OOA but I think I've maybe only used it once. A strength save at DC10 is pretty easy to beat. I LOVE parry/riposte though. Sweeping attack might be fun for crowd control, but it's pretty situational.
For a little more background, I also took the protection fighting style and the shield master feat (started as variant human I think, but we're also level 4) so I could run around saving the squishy PCs and being a murder hobo at the same time. They're also a ton of fun, but it depends on what flavour you're after really

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Varsk isn't much for protecting anyone but himself and is all about winning fights. Fighting dirty is the only fighting he knows. Trip seemed a good match and the other two are too good to pass up for something situational.
In the campaign I am running (which I decided to run because of this game) one of the fighters picked sweeping attack. He has used it 2-3 times for underwhelming damage. He also went with riposte and parry.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
It's almost like everyone thinks retaliation strikes are fun. XD
Anyway, seems like there's not going to be much to do but train. For Mehr, that's preferably away from people and trees, so he doesn't set anything on fire.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
It's my first ever campaign, and actually the first time I ever played DnD in quasi-real life (playing on roll20), so I am testing some things out.
Spoilered cus it got long...
Isn't the save on tripping attack 8+Prof+str mod? A 14 check is okay. Still not that hard to beat but maybe? Thinking mostly at range.
