Is anyone going to check out the ledger? Literally everyone in the party except Vatro and Veska are trained in Investigation, so I'm sure someone can figure it out

Speaking of, shouldn't Uragh have +6 Investigation? Expertise says your Proficiency bonus is doubled for whatever skills you have Expertise in, and Proficiency is always based off of character level, not class level.

Actually, your skills seems to have a few problems, Mort.
- Your INT skills all have a mysterious +2 when they should be +0
- I thought you had Expertise in Investigation, but you actually have Insight and Persuasion listed as your Expertise skills
-- You don't seem to have Proficiency in either of those skills, so you wouldn't be able to have Expertise in them anyway

I mean, we can do if you want to show us what you found. I haven't been reading your guys updates tho, so I'll need a quick IC primer on what happened :)

I... Can't remember what's gone wrong with that, but you're right. Did I... Copy expertise from someone else without properly registering what it does? I thought I had everything done properly, but evidently not.

@thinks, Veska already filled you guys in.

"'Sides that, we snagged those plumbin' blueprints we were meanin' to. We ain't looked at 'em much yet."

I'm working off the assumption that if your class has the ability to cast a spell at its current level but the character doesn't have it on their spell list, that the character has heard of the spell, they just don't know how to cast it.

Since Jax is a level 4 Bard, he probably would have heard of Locate Object before, imo

So Dusk, how do you wanna deal with Uragh's stats..? The int stat is pretty much wrong and needs to be corrected, but I either copied thieves expertise incorrectly from someone else, or just didn't think about what it actually meant... Can I just repick those with two proficiencies I actually have?

And I was working off the assumption that he might have heard of it, but isn't familiar with the mechanics of the spell, which was why he asked Veska about it :P

Also bards don't learn spells like how clerics / paladins / wizards do, so its not clear that he'd have access to the full spell list necessarily in his IC existence. I dunno, it's all just flavour really at this point - he was just trying to make conversation

@Mort: Sure, I don't mind. You haven't actually used your stats for anything major yet anyway (as far as I can recall, at least) :P

So what is the plan for now then? Has anyone scoped out the fancy mansion yet? Or the auction house where this stuff is going to be sold?

Nobody's been to Carmichael Manor, and you don't know where the stuff is being sold. Yet ;)

Out of curiosity, which part of the sewers is Veska from, Vader?

Also I'm going to say there are no sewers south of the river, and they don't extend far into the slums either. Those grubby peasants generally just chuck their waste into the streets, hence the name "Stinkstain Slums" :P

Quick check, don't swarms have resistance to slashing damage?

Short swords do piercing, but they are resistant to that too.

So, question- Does rakish audacity work against swarms, given that it's technically a whole bunch of creatures..?
Rakish Audacity: Starting at 3rd level, your confidence propels you into battle. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Charisma modifier. You also gain an additional way to use your Sneak Attack; you don't need advantage on the attack roll to use your Sneak Attack against a creature if you are within 5 feet of it, no other creatures are within 5 feet of you, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll. All the other rules for Sneak Attack still apply to you.

Hmm...I'm going to say no, probably. They're described as a "medium swarm of tiny beasts", so I think that counts as multiple creatures.

Not that it matters in this case, since both swarms are within 5ft of you anyway :P

Which means that Veska is also within 5ft of the swarm, so you can get the Sneak Attack off anyway!

Great!

Oh, also, a second question I just realized I should probably have asked earlier... If you want a sneak attack, do you HAVE to use finesse (as in, use your dex modifier) or do you just have to use a weapon that's capable of finesse, but can use STR instead?

As far as I can see, you need to use a finesse weapon, but can attack with STR and still get sneak attack. The only restriction seems to be weapon type.

Yep, Str with a Finesse weapon is fine. It makes the Barb/Rogue combo work surprisingly well!

Yep, that's the plan! Definitely didn't panic for a moment as I realized I might have misinterpreted that part of the ruling!

Re: The Heist - OOC

Since the non-sewer group seems unsure about what to do, I figured I'd write up a helpful list;

1) Snoop around the Guardhouse to try and figure out the guard rotations for the bank.
2) Snoop around Carmichael Manor and/or Frederick's Cabin.
3) Do something else?

And on the note of No.3: I'm trying to make this story pretty open-ended in terms of how you approach the Heist. Yes, I have a lot of stuff pre-planned, the entrances to the bank being a good example. But I'm also trying to adapt things to you guys. The whole Tarvok event was almost totally improvised (I wasn't expecting you to hitch a ride with him at all!), and I didn't even consider the underground approach to things until Vader came up with the idea of sewer-Kobolds.

What I'm trying to say is, don't just rely on my hints to know what you should be doing. Because the list of things you "should be doing" is pretty short, honestly. Everything between now and the Heist-night is almost a complete mystery, even to me.

So if you think of something cool and interesting to do, just go for it! Worst that can happen is you waste a day/night bumbling around doing nothing

Or get caught by the guards. That'd be pretty bad too ;)

I was kind of letting the combat play out to not clog the thread.

The others should start looking into where to procure an unhealthy amount of explosives. :shifty:
