Druid Group
The old dragonborn nods gratefully at Mehriv and leans back in his chair, eyes closing. To Vaceran he says:
"Prepare the blackleaf for tonight. I... I think I will need it."
"Are you certain? You haven't been well for this entire week! It's too strong!
"No... But if I do not... it will be worse.
Vaceran looks pale, but nods.
"It will take some time to prepare properly, but I'll have it ready."
To Varsk:
"Is there anything else you need from me? I have a variety of herbs that might help in healing if it comes to it... Some of the more... exotic plants I cultivate for the old man's remedies are pretty powerful poisons and hallucinogens too. I won't have time to prepare much in the time available, but I could perhaps prepare an oil to apply to our blades and arrows."
The group start out by making a bunch of boards with nails through them, and positioning them underneath the windows and inside the door of the cabin. With everyone helping, it only takes about an hour to do. There are 6 boards left, of varying condition, which you can place as you choose (each will add 1d4+2 HP to the thing being barricaded). There are 6 windows (with shutters), the front door, and the trapdoor that probably want your attention.
Varsk nails the trapdoor shut, preferring to try and keep any enemies out than keep the exit open.
((Varsk, make a straight INT check please)).
It is 4pm (6 hours left).

Lizard Group
Merric chirps at the flustered birds.
"We come to parlay with the tribe," Kal calls in Draconic. He holds up the amulet. "We stand against this corruption."

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
Varsk walks around the hut, thumping on the walls and bouncing the floorboards. The whole building seems pretty solidly built, but also starting to wear out, and it's not easy to work out whether deliberately damaging part of the wall would only weaken that part, or if it might weaken the entire wall, and ultimately make everything worse.
After 15 minutes of looking around, he decides that the wall under the rear window is probably the best place to try and weaken the wood, but it's anyone's guess whether he'll be able to do it.
((Let me know if you want to go ahead and try. There's a saw and an axe available that will help you do the job)).
Vaceran gives a short laugh.
"Perhaps if we survive the night, we can discuss the finer aspects of botany in the morning."

Varsk figures there are a few places that he could probably weaken the floor enough that it would collapse when stood on, and it would double as a trap. Or he could simply raise a couple of floorboards so they can lift them easily if they need to escape in a hurry.

Varsk figures lifting the floor boards is probably the easiest and least likely to collapse the place on their heads so he gets started on doing that in a way not visible from the outside.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
Cool, I'll take a survival check then from Varsk. Whatever you roll (with ADV) will be the DC for someone to notice the floorboards have been altered for rapid removal. Also, let me know roughly which part of the house you want to have this in (e.g. middle, north/south/east/west walls), and how large an area you're altering (in 5-foot squares, because D&D). I won't have time to produce an interior map for you guys for a day or two, but if you let me know roughly now, we can sort the details later.

Totally invisible. Put the NW corner of the hut. If 5 ft is big enough for him to fit through that would be the size he'd aim for. He would have something easily moveable on the spot just in case. Like moderately heavy chair or something.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
Ok, so Varsk spends the next hour or so carefully pulling up the floorboards in the NW corner of the hut without breaking them, which requires a surprising amount of care because the boards are old and starting to get damp and rotten. He manages to do a decent enough job, but by the time he's done, there's a few splintered areas down one side, and the boards, now free from being nailed down, warp upwards slightly. It's not something that's immediately obvious, but once you notice it, it's certainly different to the rest of the floor.
He moves a moderately heavy bench on top of it (DC10 STR to push from below; DC5 to move it from upstairs) and hopes no-one will pay too much attention.
((What are the rest of you doing while Varsk digs up floorboards?))

((I did! What are you making them out of? There's some hemp rope lying around, but it's pretty thick if you're trying to be subtle. I don't know if you have anything more suitable in your inventories though. Also, what is the aim of the snare? To whip someone into the air (like a cartoon; easier to spot, harder to escape) or just to catch their foot and restrain them (harder to spot; easier to escape)? I don't know how to make that kind of thing IRL, but I assume your PCs do ))

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
Hmmm.... vines would work too, if there are any in the trees. Though if none I could use the rope. As for type of snare, I ....am not sure. Probably a mixture of both? And maybe some net traps?

((You start putting net traps in they will know something is up and we won't be in a position to capitalize on them. A few snare traps to make it look like hunting are reasonable, but we still won't be able to do much except pinpoint an individual or twos location.))

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (D&D 5e)
There are probably vines around to make things look more natural. I'll need to know how many of each type you're setting up though, and ideally if you can indicate on the map where you want to place them, that'd be great! (They'd each fill one square). Downloading and doctoring the map in paint is probably easier, but you can also just describe it and I'll try and work out what you mean!
Let's have a survival check to find some vines to start.
