Usually I'm a few days late in noticing a new comic, but today was lucky for me when checking my bookmarks!

I would have liked to see a few panels showing the slight beginning of Forgath's transformation and a "shit I failed the save" panel or a natural 1 visible.

"Oh yeah. Not a good death. Lots of screaming."

So we might still have Forgath after this tragedy, but we'll probably wish we didn't.

That's what the first 3 panels are. It's shown in Forgath's face and manner. And we didn't need to see a natural 1. The DC might have been crazy high and Forgath couldn't get it with a 20 (assuming you can't crit saves in this version).

This is scary. I'm keen to see how it turns out.

Is Bowst supposed to kill him? He's practiced doing it with Idle. Is that what breaks him?

Hmmm... So, unless Tarol has a different twist in mind here's what I see the prophecy as:

"You will die in a great battle with another dwarf. When the serpent becomes your prey, friends will become enemies and love will fuel hate."

Forgath is going to run back into his friends after turning and we'll end up seeing a pretty major battle involving Kore, Minmax, and Kin at least.

Forgath won't be himself any more, and will turn on Kin. Minmax will be reluctant to hurt Infected-Forgath throughout the fight, thinking he can still be saved somehow... But he'll need to make a choice between stopping Infected-Forgath or saving Kin, and will sadly have to be the one to kill him.

Maybe Oblivious can have some affect on the infection though and be it's counter.

Infected-Forgath is a combination of multiple Klik essences. With the infection, he might basically have a positive of well... Everything... And he might not have a true negative as something that never existed before... But Oblivious is concentrated Nothingness... and may be the only weapon that can finish him off somehow.

I wonder if his death, and fleshy parts, will be considered 'wounds' like when the kliks first healed him.

I have a small feeling that if it does work, he'll basically be turned into a kilk.

This. Forgath is one of my favorite Non-Goblin characters. Him and MinMax, who had to grow on me.

Would it be possible to have a cleric strong enough to cast a resurrection spell? I'm not aware enough of the rules of the game to know. It feels kinda nice now that Forgath knows about the "letting go" attached to dying that Idle told him about. I hope it can spare him traumatic experiences. Still, also, wondering as what he'll come back...

IF he comes back.

And his death involves a lot of screaming, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, but it also involves a DWARF killing him. So unless you're saying him missing his fortitude save is "the dwarf killing him", I don't see him dying here.

You see, that's the cool thing about knowing how you're gonna die, you also know the things that WON'T kill you. He knows the prophecy says a dwarf will kill him, so why not risk his life for Idle? There's no dwarf around these parts (anymore)...

Nah. He'll die in a great battle with another dwarf. Never said the dwarf would kill him.

It does say "a battle with another dwarf". Not, specifically, a battle AGAINST another dwarf.
If the resurrection turns him evil or warps him into the same kind of being Kore is, he might join Kore's team. Then his friends would turn to enemies and would want to kill him.

Now I made myself depressed.

Maybe... Maybe dying sends him to Hell, but Inception-style, it's actually a plane running SLOWER (or further back in time?) where HE becomes the Last Paladin, trapping Evil! But by doing so, he gets transported BACK, EVEN FURTHER INTO TIME, and he BECOMES KORE IN THIS REALITY.

Maybe he should go to the Cursewalk and get the same curse as Idle so he can try.

I really hope everyone who is bending over backwards to try and prove the most insanely convoluted possible shoehorning-in of recent events, to fit a prophecy which is so much more easily explained, will be proven wrong and silenced forever. The sooner the better.

Everyone who accuses Thunt of using time-travel should be arrested.

With how many different parts are on him, I'd expect the combination of them to end up being a Klok. The good news is, with that wound across his head, he migth already have most of one brain hemisphere replaced by Klik-stuff, so we don't need to worry *too* much about it ending up being just a vaguely Forgath-shaped someone else.

While we're throwing around ideas for what the prophecy could mean, though: Maybe he could end up having love as his positive, so love would in a quite literal sense be fueling a hate-filled warped-klik rampage?

I agree with you. However, the Maze of Many happened kinda out of nowhere and jammed two plotlines together over kind of zero time. Timetravel is not to far off anymore.

It would be really really bad. Yes. But not out of the ballpark.

I just love finding the most convoluted possible theories, because the easy way is often boring. BUT I've never yet been disappointed by Thunt's ability to find the right path between "the normal way" and my "batshit crazy way".

Time travel has already happened in the comic. Time distortion has already happened in the comic. Speculating about future time-travel (hah!) is therefore completely in line with this story.
