Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
I was mostly trying to set a minimum distance, Holger should move more to the north, right?
Also I am not sure Dornikal has a good idea how big Holger's danger zone is. He turned a mule to an elf across an entire cave.

Don't worry about it. Anyone within ten miles of Holger is in the "danger zone"

Yep. Too late to worry about that. You're within the "fireball radius".

I skimmed the PDF that i've had for a while, but much prefer the physical book to the digital so will have to read it through after i finish Tome of Foes.

I could see Randy setting up an organization like the Templars, but dedicated to dealing with portals and protecting against threats from that direction.

Spider -
Can Dornikal see anymore creatures than the two visible to all? Also are you still allowing the 2 square 3 square moves for Dornikal's short legs in difficult terrain?

The one next to Holger is still up, barely. Yeah, he gets 12.5 ft, which I can do alternating 2-3 squares, or putting him on lines.

Is muscle mouth visible to the rest, or only to Holger?

Just for clarification, the tentacles are coming from the blue line on the east side of the room and not from the blue glow on the west side. And what is that tentacle thing to the north?

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Yes, the rip in reality is to the east, to the west is a single remaining tube that seems to have someone or something in it. To the north and south are passageways that have collapsed.

The wife and I are going camping tomorrow and Tuesday, may be able to do stuff from my phone, but just a heads up, since I'll largely be disconnecting for a few days.

You better stop that right away! Soon you'll give her a name and adopt her and Holger is not ready to be involved in anything that requires so much responsibility!thinkslogically wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 1:25 pm Nem wanders up behind the girl, and says quietly (out loud):

Pahahahaha! That would be hilarious and also the absolute worst to deal with in-game. Renny is bad enough...

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
So....
Since the portal seems to respond to the presence of eldritch energies (I don't know that Randy's planes energy exactly counts as a magic ability in the typical sense), it doesn't appear that Randy holding off on using his abilities are going to make much nevermind since Holger's wild magic is going to rip that sucker wide open anyway. That being said, the lance may come in handy since even as a two handed weapon, it can deal the most damage if Randy augments it. Plus having an extended reach is a good idea if the whatsit coming through has grabby tentacles like everything else we've run into down here.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
It does have a larger damage die, but while Randy is proficient, it would use strength rather than dexterity. So, you'd be going from +5 to hit and 1d6+3+1d8 (average 11, with range of 5-17), to +3 to hit and 1d12+1d8 (average 11, with range of 2-20).
So, damage output is more variable, and not really a bump in average damage, but it does have reach (but also disadvantage when within 5 ft).

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Total aside, but I am very much enjoying the fun of being a 2H var human barbarian 1 / fighter 2 with the polearm master feat in M0rts game... Having a reach weapon that allows an AOO when someone comes in range is just stupid. The dude can't do anything except combat, but he's fun and murdery and a nice change from the utility classes I tend to go with

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
One of the interesting quirks I've seen about lances is that they are two handed weapons...unless you're mounted. Then they're one handed. If you have the dual weapon skill (which Randy does) and you're mounted, you could in theory use two lances at once. Sort of a scary thought.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Yeah, with the Dual Wielder feat, it would be possible to ride a horse with two lances. And with the Two-Weapon Fighting style, you can add that +0 STR to both!
