Psimax stops gaining exp from 3rd level challenges at 11th level, so that's probably about where he is. Destroying the keys probably makes them reform back in the tower room, to ensure someone can finish the level each run. So we should expect a flood of characters to enter the room really soon. When they arrive they will start a huge fight with psimax, and after he wipes them out he'll have to deal with minmax. psimax can't disarm minmax, that's really going to bother him. i think that shadow on the floor is the 4th key, the one that opens the door. should be a huge fight, with all the other teams racing for the finish only to find psimax and a locked door.
Doesn't the CR of a battle go up if there are more enemies? If so, he could have farmed the Tower room for dozens of runs with a CR arbitrarily high, depending on how many enemies he takes on simultaneously.
I only know ye olde Advanced Dungeons & Dragons on this, but in that system the DM was given carte blanche to cancel all XP when she judged that the players were trying to level grind.
I wouldn't be shocked if the keys did reform, except that I am quite certain that we're going to see that second eyeball key at some point, and that might make the tower key moot. There's no way the resemblance is a coincidence. To quote Ms. Rabbit,
"They were drawn that way."
The old name was Twocoo. The avatar is the scariest thing in Wizardry I, circa 1981.

Just as a fun thought of alternate reality laws of nature and not a seriously proposed theory, what if by the rules of his home reality PsiMax's power goes up the fewer psions there are in existence? In the MoM he's the only one and so got a huge boost in power just entering it.

Another thought on the theory of the INT key from the chest room being an alternate Winking Key. Why does it have to be the INT key at all? ALL the keys from the chest room had an eye on them so couldn't it just as likely be the DEX, STR or CHA key? Any one of those chest keys could be an alternate Winking Key so basing it on just the color of the key seems strange.
NOTE TO ALL THOSE I AM GAMING WITH: Currently gaming with others in the Sacred Statue Garden.

Kelten wrote:yah, this update, labeled 23d, was postend the 24th, and when the next update arrives it will be labeled the 26th
I tried labeling one with the actual post date, but that just made everyone annoyed and confused

Actually Kelten, judging by the time you posted this thread, the comic was posted around 10:50-11:00PM on the 23rd in Thunt's time zone.
That's why that rule is in place. Even if the comic goes up on a certain date in your time zone, that does not mean that it went up on that date in Thunt's time zone. Also, the date on the comic reflects the update day, allowing people to search for specific update threads without any confusion.
Best,
Moose

Just a thought. The mechanism for controlling the platform/hole etc is behind the same wall psimax opened to join the dungeon. Might be coincidence and there is a short corridor, but with the turn before the final room, depending on the size of psimax's chamber, the relevant mechanism might be accessible. Might be red herring.
I don't see Kin and forgath managing to listen to a monologue, kill psimax, solve the final door, grab teapot and leave before minmax's rage runs out and that line doesn't fit for me anyway.
More likely is psimax intervenes again to bring minmax and oblivious to the final room and therefore has the essential step of being responsible for his own downfall to complete the tragedy.
Psimax won't kill them until he works out what the problem is. Kin and Forgath aren't in any immediate danger. Questioning them will only yield more questions only answerable by seeing oblivious.
From psimax's perspective chances are too much weird stuff has already happened to correct for. I suspect that he'll want to have a look at oblivious to work out exactly how it works (which by the nature of oblivious, he can't as it's obviously impossible to duplicate oblivion you idiots)
The one thing he can't account for, even after seeing it for himself is oblivious... I suspect we'll hear "Impossible!" several times more. I suspect minimax will impossibly switch hands after psimax pins one with telekinesis, leaving a befuddled psimax a couple of seconds to not work out just how minimax killed him, after all it was impossible.

Psimax can't take the sword from minmax, but all he needs to do is force minmax to let go of it or, failing that, crush his hand so he can't hold it. Minmax's only real chance would be if he caught Psimax by surprise.

I'm predicting a moment of utter horror when MM lets go of Oblivious...and nothing takes it. One way or the other, that was the last time he ever held that sword.

That is because we had a really good look at that key's bit, while the others were inserted already and therefore hidden.

Good job. I feel sorry for you for the next page. That will be horrible for you.
Thanks to Arch Lich Burns for the avatar, and Mnementh for the mustache.

Great minds think alike? (I visited the "Impossible" thread first.) At any rate, I have to keep reminding myself that Psimax doesn't need any extra special effects for his arms. They just look like they should glow or shift colors.
The only one to pay attention to what happens in Goblins.
