May be my misreading. This from the FMK realities compilation:willpell wrote:Whatever this is about, I clearly missed it. With girl looking GS. Can't be talked about. Kin is the one who looks like GS, has the same part wood "situation" as GS does in normal reality." Which would make sense, if my guess was right. Major spoiler.
True, but irrelevant, especially at my age. And since it appears that those speculating about the healing potion(s) in the Anymug were correct and I was not, I don't think it will hurt to disclose my speculation.SamWiser wrote:You my good man, are a tease. What if whatever was going on with Goblinslayer was a botched attempt at making himself regenerate? We already know he was able to survive what would have been a lethal wound in the real world, supposedly because of his 'high hit points', and that he healed awfully fast. We know that fire -- and the fire was concentrated in his woody parts -- is one common way to PREVENT natural regeneration, as in trolls. We also know that magic also often goes wrong in unexpected ways from parts of the main storyline and from several of the Altsplanations. Then, what if it was contagious, specifically what if it could be acquired like an STD, but only became 'active' if needed to regenerate missing body parts?
We also already know, from the most recent Altsplanation especially, that GS's sadism can take a very creative turn. Suppose in Reality i#016 he realized this, and decided to cut away parts of Kin analogous to those replaced with regenerated woody parts on his own body, making her a living tribute to himself when they regrew. Sounds just like the egotistical SoB.
But, that doesn't appear to be the case, that, or there hasn't been time for it to happen yet and Kin is unaware that it will.

Not being privy to chats and whatnot, I assumed GSKin was the ranger defeated by the GAP in that realm. Since there was no raping involved, Forgath and MM convinced her to join them, rather than throwing her through the window etc...

Now that you mention it, we've seen a version of the party with just MinMax, a version with just Forgath, and even a version with MinMax and people besides Forgath and Kin (One-Eye the goblin), but not in a single one of these realities has MinMax ever teamed up with the Goblinslayer.friedkitty wrote:Not being privy to chats and whatnot, I assumed GSKin was the ranger defeated by the GAP in that realm. That's a comforting thought.

Re: May 03rd, 2013 Out of Hell
Maybe not. I have seen the theory that if MinMax and Forgath teamed up with Goblinslayer, then they would never go into the MoM. If they teamed up with Goblinslayer, then they wouldn't have spent time with Kin (he doesn't bring her on quests, and I don't think they would like staying in Brassmoon for a while) and would have no reason to go to the MoM. The main reason they are there is to get the Jade Teapot so they can teleport to the GAP. The only reason they went to Dellyn in the first place was because he could track him. I feel that thus was long, rambling, and confusing, but it basically boils down to this. Team up with Goblinslayer= no need for teapot. No need for teapot=no MoM. It may have happened, they just didn't go to this dungeon.Godbot wrote:Now that you mention it, we've seen a version of the party with just MinMax, a version with just Forgath, and even a version with MinMax and people besides Forgath and Kin (One-Eye the goblin), but not in a single one of these realities has MinMax ever teamed up with the Goblinslayer.friedkitty wrote:Not being privy to chats and whatnot, I assumed GSKin was the ranger defeated by the GAP in that realm. When did we see just forgath?

It was nothing important. Just a random extra from the beginning of the Maze.willpell wrote:When did we see just forgath?

I just remembered seeing him because his design was kind of interesting. And looking back on this, I'm not sure if he's even alone. We just don't see anyone else in his half of the room.
I guess if Forgath isn't alone in that panel, it suggests that they're all variations of the group that MinMax is with, not of the party in general.

It still begs the question, where is Kin with the GAP or alone?

Re: May 03rd, 2013 Out of Hell
Altsplanation 3 had a group without Minmax, from the "tentacle reality". And it also had the "group" that was just Minmax, though it seems there are several of those (altsplanation 5 had another one, and technically there's Ace-Max, and I think I saw others...so bare minimum of two if you discount the one that's just an homage). So there's not really any fixed criterion as to how the group is determined; perhaps if a group contained none of the same individuals, it would just iterate in a separate "copy" of the maze and not interact with the FMK run.Godbot wrote:I guess if Forgath isn't alone in that panel, it suggests that they're all variations of the group that MinMax is with, not of the party in general.

Re: May 03rd, 2013 Out of Hell
I imagine it to be like a D&D version of seven degrees to Kevin Bacon. The maze has run out of all FMK versions, and is now starting to cycle in the partials. Eventually it will get to all of the FMO (Forgath, MM, One-Eye) combos, with a few FMK's left, then the Forgath, Big Ears, One-Eye combos, then segue into the GAP groups. Because time does not exist, a group could be held in temporal limbo for billions of runs before it was their turn to do the maze and they would never know it.

Re: May 03rd, 2013 Out of Hell
Incidentally, I think this comic gives us a visual indication of Kin and Minmax 'seeing' one another, and not just from the prior comic.
Note the facial expressions:

I mean, it's too close to be a coincidence, now, isn't it? Also lends additional credence to temporarily paralysis on Kins part- not just having her her lower 2/3 blown off, but the shock of the trauma finally triggering the 'trueseeing...'
Am I stretching here? Maybe the expressions are just coincidental...

So who has the key? Is it still in the chest? Was it in the backpak that never existed? So do they have to defeat EVERYONE then go back and get it? It is too similar to be a coincidence, I'm just trying to figure out how it can be done.

Re: May 03rd, 2013 Out of Hell
It seems possible he trapped himself in the maze on purpose to gain easy exp with no risk, then found he couldn't undo the effect without losing it all.
In that situation he'd want to destroy the maze, and dump himself/everyone back to their own dimension without losing your memories.

Its like a bad case of groundhogs day that no one but him can remember.

Re: May 03rd, 2013 Out of Hell
His motivation reminds me quite a bit of the main villain from Arcanum (video of final speech spoilered below):
If it was just a matter of him being stuck in the Maze, I'd think he could devise a solution now that he understands it well enough to tear oblivion holes in its very reality. He could probably trigger an early reset, lock everyone in their starting rooms, then forcefully eject them, if that was his desire...but there hasn't been any indication of that.

That's AceMax and he's wearing a futuristic flight jacket. He's a test pilot, you see.
He's based on Ace Rimmer from Red Dwarf. If you've never seen it, it's worth a watch.
