Or while we are at it, kin gets sewn onto to half-baka and develop a coordinated sideways method of moving around? That really would be and odd couple.

GAA - Goblins Amputees Anonymous:

Kin: Tail
Dies Horribly: Left Arm
Duv: Wings
Biscuit: Right Leg
Thaco: Right Ear
Complains of Names: finger on right hand
Goblinslayer: left ear (and head after kin was done)
Baka: lower half
Chief: Right eye

So it's not a matter of if, but seems like when. So What body part will Minmax and Forgath lose?

Forgath: toe on left foot
Minmax: purple worm :paranoia: (j/k... I'd say probably a finger. It would suck if he lost his hand and couldn't grab oblivious and it disappeared)

The problem with that is the time. There are hundreds of groups trying to reach the finish, and if they take the time to backtrack to the beginning, someone else is bound to win first. Unless they can get EVERYONE to agree to it, and that seems very unlikely. The best case is to somehow get Psimax to monologue before knocking him out, but you still run into the issue of how to get back and destroy the counter before someone else gets up to the treasure room. Of course we stil don't know how they will even get in unless our FMK still has that key somehow.

(Maybe one of the 3K has it...they could have just pocketed it "just in case".)

Time? they have all the time in the world...the mouth from the tower room is closed, and Minmax will probably kill everyone else, given that he has Oblivious and appears to be using it to good effect, and also has the high ground on anyone coming up.

I'm guessing, by the way, that the Three Kins here are from realities where they're good, and their Forgaths and Minmaxes are evil (Thus their desire to make a "Kins only" group.) So our Kin will probably ask them to smash the four counters, then reset the dungeon and help her group complete it on their next run (Thus why this run is important, with them completing after one final reset while REMEMBERING this run)
There are worlds out there where the sky is burning...where the seas sleep and the rivers dream. People made of smoke, and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger. Somewhere there's injustice. Somewhere else, the tea is getting Cold. C'mon Ace, we've got work to do! - The Doctor (Sylvester McCoy, last line in the old series)

Ah yes Chief lost an eye. Minmax didn't though. Thunt has said on numerous occasions that MM can still see out of that eye, it's just scarred.

*Edited original list to add Chief*

Both Kore and Forgath have lost part of their beard. Does that count?
Morrack wrote:also, in this way they suggest that it couldn't have been 'regular' healing potion in the mug, it has to be from the river, but how would they know that
Obviously because "regular" healing potion comes in little bottles. Duh!
Morrack wrote:In fact, it wouldn't hurt the conversation to leave out this information altogether. It doesn't add much to the story, other than the fact that others pass the river of healing potion too, which doesn't really seem surprising to me.
I think the point is to emphasize that the Kins are really smart and have the ability to correctly understand a situation from very small clues.

I think it just sorta happened, as part of the community discussion. Actually, I really like the fact that the names just popped out naturally and were intuitively understood and accepted. I certainly thought of the red-scaled Kin as Ruby before I read anyone here calling her that. After Sapphire and Onyx, it was just the logical next step.

I think THunt confirmed it on twitter. After the page that had Saphire's name, he asked if anybody could guess what the others names were. Somebody guessed Ruby and Onyx and THunt made some joke about having his mind read.

Myself, I thought of Ruby instantly after hearing Sapphire, but Onyx was more speculative. Jet or Obsidian would actually have been a better name, as onyx is frequently brown or other colors. I also thought her name might have referenced the white of her skin ("pearl", perhaps, since pearls can be white or black) or even of her IME ("jade" would be particularly fitting for the light green shade combined with her white skin, though I would have been highly amused if it'd turned out to be "chrysoprase").

I searched for a blog post around the publishing date to see whether the names came from a blog post. There is non archived around that time.
And it was the time our shiny BlindFerret forum made it's final convulsion and died.

I missed the conversations on that specific update (likely because the forum was already down)....

Let me delve into the twitter archive....

Edited to add (or ETA as alledged common abbreviation):
Here's a tweet, to which THunt received an answer with the three names:
In the conversation that follows comes the remark that THunt is impressed by the name guessing of the Goblinites.

Well, noone of all of us did guess Grinnorarcen.... ;)

The page itself seemingly got uploaded to the site.
So, on 26 January the site still worked, and thus likely the Blind Ferret forums too.

On 28 January the site was down:

STAR CONTROL: The Ur-Quan Masters finally gets a continuation of the story!
it's fully funded, and all realistic stretch goals reached!

They all do have leashes, the blue cord wrapped over their arms like our Kin, but Onyx's leash is the most interesting. She seems to have both a collar and a belt of the same material but unlike the other Kins her leash doesn't attach to either one.
Well, sonuvacrap. You're absolutely right. That doesn't necessarily mean they're all enchanted in EXACTLY the same way of course; each Kin clearly has her own backstory. However, it does TEND to put a damper on my hopes of them getting all Metaconcert on his megalomaniacal ass.

Still not seeing how Minmax ever gets to this room. Everyone in the tower room is locked out now according to how the room plays.

Interesting though, that they did attack the group before. ( http://www.goblinscomic.com/01222013/ )
But they only targeted Minmax and Forgath.

Nope the very next page you see Sapphire leveling an arrow on our kin, I doubt it's for hugs and kisses.
Only after our Kin grappled Drizzt Kin (I think every dual-wielding DnD character is trying to eliminate Drizzt, call me cynical).
K. Your cynical. I've known dual weild fighters that could kick Drizzt's behind made by people who never even heard of forgotten realms. BTW that Kin is wearing breastplate, she's at least a fighter, not a ranger.

Metaconcert? I read that power and was like "why would you ever bother to use this?" What exactly would make it awesome, beyond a general "by our powers combined" concept? As far as I could tell, all it does is tie up a lot of your power points in one power that could be Dispelled.

With five psions, you get a +5 bonus to your difficulty check and a +5 bonus to your saving throws. Further any HP damage is divided among the five. It sounds like a "walking through lava" situation. I think the real answer is that this is done a lot in literature. It does makes sense as a psionic society would know everyone's secrets and work together or fall apart quickly.
The old name was Twocoo. The avatar is the scariest thing in Wizardry I, circa 1981.

Don't forget that Chief and Goblinslayer are also part of Dead Character Anonymous as well.

Goblinslayer: killed by a low level oaf and cleric with lucky lantern oil and a torch, a table, and a former pet of mine with the oaf's sword, broken during our skirmish.

Chief: Tortured to death to lure my friends to a high level Paladin who crusades against evil, believing all monster races and classes are such.

K'sellis: I do the eating.

Klik: (He was a construct. Think about it...)

Baka: (something mnnoying)

Why not Purple Pirate Halflling?

PPH: I'm still a noob, but I try to compensate by explaining the basic rules I barely know.

Then there's Possibly Yodette: My death was left ambiguous so I'll just play with my breasts.

I could have sworn it was given as Banemoon, but apparently I somehow osmosed that name from here. What I don't know, given that his last name actually isn't in the comic at all, is how I knew it started with a "baen" sound.

Thunt could still incorporate all these names into the comic by having their players return again. Thusly, the female character could say something like "First my sorceress Tryst got killed by goblins, and then Yodette was eaten by that green thing...I don't know how I let Herbert talk me into playing again!" This would be a bit more meta than they were at the last "intro", but I could live with it; it'd be like they were growing frustrated with the game and couldn't be bothered to stay in character anymore.
