Round 2

Chapter 1 - Dead Lands Awaiting

Turn 0 >>Next Turn
Goska Bluey, who has found the adventure starting piece of map, soon finds herself elected to be the leader, too. She wastes no time, and after everyone grabs their equipment, she promptly break camp and sets her party off to the unknown.

It takes a while until they reach the edge of the marshlands, but finally they catch a glimpse of the ancient burial grounds in the distance.

Still, there is some more ground to cover before they reach it. The landscape here is a bit hazy and unforgiving, they have to split up temporarily if they want to continue:

Info:
  • Each map is a 6x6 mini map, which can hold up to 4 players at a time
  • Once you choose a mini map, you can NOT move to another map. The only exception is the leader, who can change to any map she sees fit. (Given that there are 13 of you, this means 1 player will be on the waiting list, on the map that has the leader too...)
  • On each map, there are 10 mines scattered randomly.
  • There is a map with only traps, there is one with only monsters, and there is a map with both. Given that the maps are small, don't expect them to be too many, but still, there they are.
  • You have to clean at least 1 of the maps to be able to progress.
Starting:
  • You can either select a starting map for yourself or you can listen to the leader's order, in case she divides you in teams. Your choices are processed in their arriving order, in case of listening to your leader, her post counts. (For example Goska orders "A" for map 1. "B" posts their wish to join map 1. "A" accepts the task from the leader. In this case, despite posting later, "A" gets to the map 1 before "B", because the leaders order preceeded the personal wish of B.)
  • You do not have to choose right away, if you trust your leader you can just post "I'll accept whatever I've been assigned to". However, if you do so, then you have to accept the decision and can't go "Oh wait I don't like that map at all"...
  • It is NOT obligatory to spawn right away.
This is all the information you have to know to start the game. Feel free to discuss strategy on how to proceed, or just dive into the exploration as soon as you can! There is no explicit time limit on this chapter, but taking too long or doing it too quick will both affect further events in one way or another. There might be "timed" events too!

Turn 1 will come next week on about Wednesday (or earlier, depending on activity) if at least 1 condition of these has been met:
  • At least 7 players have posted their starting map and a location. (Without being ordered, all by themselves)
  • At least 10 players have posted or have been assigned to one of the maps, and they have chosen their location.
  • Failing all the above (you guys are too indecisive), I'll randomly assign EVERYONE, even if some of you have done their part. >:D

NOTICE
- I tried to ensure that everything is correct, but I'm not infallible. If something is amiss, please state so!
- No-Legs couldn't get a free pants from WhiteMetal because he has only 3 coins left and pants cost 4. You could argue that since those pants don't actually need legs, so the less material cost would imply a lesser cost too, but I should be convinced via good roleplaying ;)
- This update is kind of huge, and the maps ordered below each other also hog kind a lot of space. I try to keep everything well followable, unfortunately it is not easy with the initial heap of info dumps. If anyone has a good suggestion, feel free to share it.
- In connection with the previous: I plan to unite the 3 mini maps into 1 mega map so they can be put into one broad line that eats up less vertical space. However, this might be undesired due to its inconvenience (has to be clicked to see the right part), feel free to protest if you think it would be bad!

If it's ok with the Chief, Craig will spawn on Mini map 2, square C3

I'd advise no person with a weapon spawn in Minimap 1 to begin with, so as you have a sword, Shiny, I'd advise against you spawning there. Forest of Peace suggests traps rather than monsters. Knowing the sinkholes in the map we just left, I imagine the swamp has both, which would suggest the Forgotten Road probably has monsters, which means weapon weilders are better for either of these maps.

White Metal, go ahead and spawn on Map 3. Goska will spawn on C6 of Map 3 without equipment. She will reveal F1 on that map with her detect powers.

Stumbles tries to find out if he can use his Visions from "out of space". Target: Mini Map 3, D2.

He also awaits the leader's command, which map he should go to, before spawning.

If no(contradicting) order is given, he'll spawn on Mini Map 3, D3, UNLESS his vision told him, that adjacent to D2 are 4+ mines, in which case he'll try his luck on Mini Map 3, F2.

In any case, he'll spawn with his trusty frying pan & boots.

I'll go with that nice, pleasant-looking forest. Surely nothing bad could happen there. (Anyway, that map is easiest on my eyes.) Going for B5. Equipping my spelunky token.

Wears, the map had been selected for White Metal. You also shouldn't have Goska listed as counting under Map 3. She's captain and can adjust her spawn location.

@Gathers: Vision can be used "off-map" :) However, since you will be bound to a map this chapter, I only allow Visions after you get a fixed map (except for Goska), so you don't hog someone else's XP on a map none of your business. ;)

@Wears: Will add players in there soon. Also thanks for organizing your actions, it helps me as much as it helps you. ;)

@people in general: It took me hours to make each map as "visible" as I could, but I am afraid that I may have failed at it. If you wish I could make the following maps rather "plain" but better to discern. I want something pleasant to look at, it's not easy to achieve, though. :D

Okay, Tries. I will allow that, as it may be a good idea for us to have one weapon-weilder there. Now, we've only got 3 new characters to select a map, unless I hear people debating who gets which map. There's only one slot open on Map 1 and two open on Map 3

- Edited in player names for your convenience, I hope the sheets look fine now. If I weren't lazy I'd add a "profile picture" too, but those have to be drawn first... sigh.

- On other news, I just noticed that Blitz Craig - even though he has been around - hasn't reached level 1 yet. Which means Newcomer's Double XP bonus is applied to him too!

- I didn't get gender preference for TrainWreck and KABOOM. I'll default them as males unless told otherwise!

Goska will select to try and rescue Stumbles, given all the people on Map 3 besides him are 0 EP into their level.
