That is lovely, thank you very much.

So, I take it that mini map 3 is confirmed as Stumbles' map now? :)
And that the benevolent Gm will deem the use of Visions on the same map as acceptable?

I wonder if I could declare rescue on Goska in addition to using visions in the same turn...

I'm hoping so, or one of the actions I've given will have to be removed.

If map 3 is confirmed to you (noone said you can't go there so I guess it is), then Visions apply, naturally. You can Rescue regardless, as it is a "post-action", which means it comes after whatever you have been doing (I think the description says so too).

I think I have written a long, boring, but detailed action description on the forum that has now gone, I may try to rewrite it and simplify it.

My problem is, getting extremely meticulous with the rule details (even though they are built on logic) might scare off players thinking omigoshthisgameistoocomplicated, or they start to nitpick things which will likely result in more details...

The truth is, this game all boils down to "try to do stuff and in doubt ask the GM whether you are allowed to". Everything else is just fluff and reasoning from my side why you can or can't. :D

That's great. In this case, in addition to everything else, Stumbles also declares his rescue on Goska to return the favor. :D

Will this cause a cool down, btw? I remember there being a CD if I use the wild card option, but not when/if I declare my rescue on one specific goblin. (Not that it will probably matter all that much, because when rescuing someone you normally circle out, have to wait to spawn again and can't do much for a couple of turns, anyways...)

And thanks for explaining things (possibly for then nth time) so patiently. I really appreciate that. :)

Well, he's stated that that's if you use the cool down option. Admittedly, he's also stated that you can only use the Rescue skill if there's a waiting list. If Goska ends up going elsewhere to defend another map or for other reasons, you'll probably be limited on its use.

KABOOM will spawn on C3 on map 1, unless his captain orders otherwise.
It's canon.

@Gathers: Cooldown is only at wildcards, to prevent abuse. If you say a name, that won't cause a cooldown. It might become annoying after a while, though. ("I declare my dodge on..." is just about perfectly describing, thank you Wears! :D)

@Dave:
Admittedly, he's also stated that you can only use the Rescue skill if there's a waiting list
Did I? :S
- I remember saying no circling out without a waiting list
- I remember saying no extra XP for the waiting list length if there is no waiting, but that was the before-token system. It's 1XP / save now in all case.
- I remember saying no rescue from fights and from cases that do not warrant it.
- I remember saying no instant (same turn) respawn after rescuing, if there is no list.

In any case, it's fine rescuing someone even without a waiting list to fall back, as rescuing needs someone to be rescued and also the intention of the hero, which seems to be enough restricting condition in my eyes to let it roll.

If I ever said no rescuing at all while there is no waiting list, that either have been a misunderstanding, or a map specific condition, which I would have mentioned already. Or I'm going senile, likely.

Well, maybe I remembered incorrectly as well.

Since Map 1 has been chosen by KABOOM, those who haven't selected a map should be on Map 3. I take No-Legs' comment to mean she wants to spawn on Map 2. Those who haven't posted yet shouldn't have too much of a problem, or they should have put in their say before now.

Oh, and No-Legs, it looks like you can activate your "Answer a Call" skill. I advise you do so. I don't say "equip" as that choice remains with its player, as it always will, but filling an empty slot is generally advisable.

You're not up-to-date.

DoubleFried claimed the 4th spot on Map 1. Only Map 3 is available

Updated list:
WearsHats wrote:Update/fix:

Spawns so far:

Map 1: (4/4)
A2: Tries
D2: Oops
B5: Flags Mines
C3: KABOOM

Map 2: (4/4)
C3: Blitz Craig
C4: Finds Mines
E5: Shiny
E3: No Legs

Map 3: (2.5/4)
A1: White Metal
C6: Goska (Also revealing F1. Note: Starting location only. Captain may move between maps.)
Revealing D2: Stumbles (Also spawning D3/F2.)
As you can see, only Map 3 hasn't been filled. If you want a space on Map 1, you'll need to find one of those on Map 1 who was willing to spawn on Map 3, or give me reasonable reason besides this to remove somebody from a map they chose.

Which leaves WhirdCheese's Trainwreck in the waiting list for Map 3.

One question: If Whird Cheese doesn't show up, given an absence of over 2 weeks from the forums, how does this affect the game?

I would say "just keep it going", there is not reason to stop with so many people eager to play. Do you need somebody on the waiting list, for example to slow down the comeback time? Cause we could do without it. Or maybe playing it with a few punishment turns/days for people who die, before they can return.

Re: Goblins Minesweepers - A New Adventure (Turn 0)

Post by Davecom3 » Sun Jun 30, 2013 3:51 pm

I'm not referring to that. More, I'm wondering if this affects the Captain role given there were expected to be 4 goblins on all 3 maps at all times, or things in the same general strain. As you can tell, if Whird Cheese doesn't show, if Goska moves to a different map, there'd be only 3 goblins on one map, unless there's other plans in place.

I could boss TrainWreck around, I guess, but I'm not sure at all what tokens he'd want. Maybe I'd have him wander into all the mines and traps I could.

I'm merely splitting you up on this chapter because the maps are small so 1) you don't get cluttered up, 2) it gives a sense of covering a larger area. I haven't planned events based on your current numbers, don't worry about that. Being 1 more or 1 less only affects the speed in which you can possibly beat a map, other than that it is mostly irrelevant.

@Dave: Your leadership won't be affected much by 1 absent player, as the game goes on you will see how stuff works, all in their due time.

I guess I'll simply put WhirdCheese on the "absent" list, and he will join up when he is back.

Thanks John, I'm trying! :)

Today's update is unfortunately postponed to tomorrow, as I got home at 21:15 and had the strength only to make an update in the Borglins game, sorry.

But tomorrow... is when all will begin!

Well, technically it has already begun, but I needed a cool sounding sentence to finish.

Goblins Minesweepers - A New Adventure (Turn 1)

Post by LooksAndSmiles » Thu Jul 04, 2013 12:26 pm

Note 1
I know Oops is a female even though having a male sprite. Zigit has been kind so far drawing all the hair for the gals, so I have to do some catch-up now. I'll try to make a proper one this weekend unless someone else is faster than me. :D

Note 2
KABOOM and Blitz Craig are very similarly coloured. This is not a problem as long as they are on different maps, but will get confusing once they are reunited. Since Craig is the "older" player, he may choose something small to make his character a bit more distinctive. (For example by his name I could offer a small lighting, or a german military cross (either the black&white greek cross, or the patty cross, NO swastica to keep the peace on forums), but you can choose anything else, really.)

Note 3
I forgot to send a pm to No-Legs for her Warning skill, hence the shenanigans in her actions. It's my fault, so feel free to blame me.

Turn 1 >>Next Turn

Oops spawns in the forest, on D2, which is a "2". +2XP ( 1XP x2 bonus)
Tries-and-Dies spawns there too with his equipment, on A2, uncovering another "2". +1XP
Flags Mines arrives to B5, finding yet another "2". DING!
KABOOM begins on C3, revealing a "1". +2XP (1XP x2 bonus)

MINI MAP 1: Forest In Peace
Image
Players:
Oops
Tries-and-Dies
Flags Mines
KABOOM

Flags Mines can choose from the following tokens: Treasure!, a red token with a sword breaking, a blue token with an evil figure crossed out, a golden token with an evil figure put in a cage.

Blitz Craig starts his adventure on the second map, C3, which is a "3". +2XP (1XP x2 bonus)
Finds Mines spawns on C4, with a "3" below her feet. Or hooves. Whatever. +1XP
Oh See That Shiny arrives onto E5, exploring a "2". +1XP
No-Legs gets the eerie feeling that spawning on E3 might not be the best idea, so she decides to spawn elsewhere next turn, (and then gets an extra action to make up for the lost turn).

MINI MAP 2: The Road of the Forgotten
Image
Players:
Blitz Craig
Oh See That Shiny
Finds Mines
---
No-Legs

Meanwhile, in the swamp...

White Metal (white) spawns on A1, a bit sad, because No-Legs wouldn't want to see him pants-less. The tile is a "1", but his grief increases as it also turns out to be a swamp pit! He sinks in waist deep, and can't move.
Goska Bluey begins her career on C6, revealing a "2". She uses her vision on F1, which is empty! She gets 2XP
Stumbles around arrives to D3, which is a "3". He also uses his vision on D2, only to detect a mine! +2XP
Flags Fuses spawns on E4, which is a "2". It's also a swamp pit, and he sinks in waist-deep. +2XP (1XP x2 bonus)

Train Wreck dozes out.

MINI MAP 3: Marshland Marches
Image
Players:
White Metal (white)
Goska Bluey
Stumbles around
Flags Fuses
---
Train Wreck

Goska Bluey receives 1 Leadership Point (LP) for selecting a map for White Metal, another LP for advising Shiny spawning elsewhere, and one for giving advice to No-legs too.

Skill information unlocked!
Treasure! (Spelunky): Upon first spawning of the map, the player will recieve a pm, which will contain a very vague information about the whereabouts of 1 treasure item, if there is any buried on the map. Higher levels of this skill give more exact details.

Stumbles flags D2 (mini map 3). After that he rescues White Metal out of the swamp hole. If that's not possible from "on-map", then he'll just declare his rescue on Goska Bluey.

Goska used his vision on F1, and it turned out empty. If someone stepped there it would have revealed the adjacent tiles too, but not for Visions, because that would make the skill slightly OP.
