Re: MyrMen OOC.
ok - lets drop the root.
We can drop the ceiling next turn or drop some other bombs through the hole the cave worm will create.
I just hope the cave worm can go through the root, otherwise it should clear the dirt for us so we can chop the root.

Why destroy their mother machine, when we might be able to steal from it? There's also a possibility that we might have a harder time to get across the pond if the bridge is destroyed and kill some purple myrmen along the way.

Ok, stealing their goods is much better idea.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
we have how at least twice as many people as they do if we are to use the earlier pictures to determine how many they have. Which if i remember correctly is 4-5 red guys. Also, the question must be asked, how many purple guys are there who are enslaved to the red guys. Shall we kill the purple slaves as well as the red slave-masters?

Why steal from their mother machine if we could take it over? Then we could craft goods at two locations, not only one. Might help us expanding our territory.

There were additional rewards for saving the purple myrman- Which seems to imply that they might have some use at the very least. Maybe as more vote-controlled workers.

Only if we will enslave them. Otherwise I think they will be another tribe.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
Yeah, I'm guessing that might be the case. We don't know how they will act until after we've rescued them, so if they really turn out to be trouble, yeah, then we could kill them.

I'd rather rescue them and gain the bonus and then deal with the troubles afterwards if that's the case. It might even be one of the bonus objectives to free them all or something like that.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
Was originally going to post this in the post, but I'll post it here as to not clutter up the main thread.
I think one of the other workers should be getting materials from the burial grounds while somebody else gets more root wood since we'll need both. But that would need restructuring of how the votes are laid out now or some items to be transferred, so yeah- I'll go with you guys and hope you have good plans with that worm. I'm personally not for making something collapse on them unless we have some form of visual so we can aim.
I'm voting against using a science point to find the magnetic properties of iron unless you guys have a clear plan for that. If you do, I'll probably remove it or add a vote for. I will vote for the gas tank since I can see some uses for that in the forseeable future.
I also added a vote to craft a battleaxe. I think a few of those in the upcoming battle would be very helpful, not to mention they can also double-serve as an regular axe anyways.

I think not, we already had the option to slowly convert the first purple we encountered, but I think he died before we could finish it. Not by our hands, maybe a monster. Do not remember it anymore. But I think purples can definitly join us.gamecreator wrote:Only if we will enslave them. Otherwise I think they will be another tribe.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
I'm against studying the magnetic properties of iron since I don't see the benefits of researching it at this time at the very least. I know we have science points to spare, but unless we have an actual idea what we could use it's magnetism properties for (in which case, do tell) I'd rather save them or try and see if it'd be possible to discover it without the use.
Of course, I could think of stuff we could do with it in the long term- But that'd be stuff that I'd think would be far above us currently and would probably be better saved until we reach such a level of crafting.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
As I said- Give me an example of what we could use that for in a relative short-term, and not something which is advanced technology which we have no access to until we "advance" so to speak?
I mean, the best thing I could think of we could try and make at this time (and might be a bit of a stretch, at least for it to be advanced) is using it as a metal detector- but considering we're finding metal aplently naturally, I don't think that'd be a necessity.

With me being ninjad everywhere I'm ready to go on a doubleposting rampage.
I don't see any immediate uses of magnets either, but maybe there are some. I trust kida with it.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
magnets are the first part to build electro-motors. Magnets, wire, rotation, there you go, sir.
iron => magnetism => electricity
I totally see sense in this.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
We need something to rotate the magnets before that is even possible. And devices working on electricity to use it.

To make devices working on electricity we need to invent electricity.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
That's what I mean- Of course we'll discover magnetism before we discover electricity and it's appliances, but that's miles away from where we are now. I think researching magnetism at this time will grant us nothing for the longest time.
If we really want to research in this direction though, might I suggest that instead of trying to go for electricity, we try and investigate how to make fire, and the effect of intense heat on water so we could start looking into steam engines? I'd figure that to be a far better shot than hoping to be able to gain electricity at this point.
And being able to create fire would be useful regardless.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
I'm not exactly sure what kind of devices you would want to make that uses electricity, but the main problem haven't changed, and that is we need a good and sustainable way to create a rotation in the magnet before we can utilise it. One way would be to create a turbine using steam or another source, but we don't have any good sources at the moment that aren't limited.

We can use the fire wasp spell with green gas.
Once we have fire, we just need to keep it adding wood from time to time.

Re: MyrMen OOC.
I have a suggestion. Instead of working toward electricity, how about we instead work toward "mechanical transmission of power".
Allow me to explain. Electricity is a complex system, but mechanical power is fairly simple. First you devise a method in which something will turn in a circle without the use of manpower (though getting some monsters to run in a circle works also), the most straight-forward method of this is steam. Whether its natural steam venting from the earth or steam created by water on a hot surface (fire or magma heated). The steam turns a series of wooden fan blades (or metal) these fan blades are attached to a long round cylinder (wood or metal). The fan blades are on one end, at the other end could be several different things. The first possibility is a giant gear, which uses other gear to transmit mechanical energy/power from the turning thing (Rotor <-- round things name) to whatever you need done. Sadly this method is normally only useful for things that need energy close to the Rotor. The other option is the use of ropes or belts, this is allows "machines" to be further away from the rotor.
Now, Steam is a straight-forward way to create energy. Another easy way is moving water, such as a river or waterfall. If we were to ever stumble upon a "flowing" water source that seemingly constantly flows from top to bottom, we could build a Rotor/fan blade type machine to use this natural process to create Mechanical power. I like this way best, mostly because you don't have to mess with either magma or burning up other resources.
