Since nobody mentioned the prophecy in the last four pages, just a little reminder.

Maybe both MM and Forgath will die here.
Anyways, the shading update makes this comic look awesome!

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
The comic is misleading, because we don't know exactly what he's talking about. What he says is "I'm much heavier than you." There's nothing to imply that he's actually impeded by the armor, except for the fact that his weight is flipping over the stones he's trying to walk on. For all we know, the armor has a cancelling strength bonus to compensate for the clumsiness or te weight of it.

I like this a lot and would like to +1. Except for the returning to pick it up. I didn't think she could go back?spiderwrangler wrote:Perhaps not the thread for it and perhaps mentioned elsewhere, but regarding Kin, X additional runs through the Maze won't add any time to her exiting the maze. If while in the maze she realizes that she 'sees' MM, she could exit and rush to find a safe place to use the Jade Teapot to brew a batch to teleport to his side, intending to return on foot (tail) to pick it up and take it to her clan after reuniting with FM.
In other words, she could show up mid battle (after the amount of time it takes to brew the tea), which would smooth things over between GAP and FM, but put both parties at odds with Kore. I'm gonna call that as my prediction, cause why not. Discussion of the implications of this potential outcome in terms of prophesy will result in stabbings.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
I just took it to mean the armor itself was making him heavier than the rest of the GAP, not less dextrous. Because previous posters were talking about his being able to jump with it (or half of it), which is a strength check. It may have a magical compensation for those, it may not.
However he accomplished it, I love Forgath's face on seeing it happen.

I think maybe Big Ears' little flip-move put him into a position such that Forgath will have to turn to face him and see Kore approaching in the distance.
Thus it is that I foresee Forgath being the first to notice Kore's arrival. Well, you know, not counting that the GAP already knew he was coming.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
Forgath was still facing more or less the same way. He was looking towards the dungeon crawl entrance when he held Thaco and Ears came from behind. Ears just backflipped off him, not over. It's a little hard to track but if you keep in mind that forgath used a sort of sideways stance to try to block The axe then it makes more sense.
As far as him noticing before MinMax I agree, I expect a "Get Down" at least.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
Not into the maze, no. What I was suggesting is that she realizes once MM leaves that she 'sees' him, but also knows that no matter how much time she spends in maze with the 3K, that she will exit at the exact same moment that FM reappear at their destination. She could do a few runs, choose the teapot as her prize, exit the maze the intended way (through the circles) and end up back at the entrance/exit. Only then would she be brewing the tea to join FM, after finding a spot she could leave the Teapot and be reasonably sure it won't be found and remain there until she can return for it. Under my pure speculation, in the moments since FM arrived and engaged GAP, Kin has also exited the MoM and has slithered into the rocky outcroppings near the Penis-Go-Boom-Blade and is firing up the Teapot.Zwums wrote:I like this a lot and would like to +1. It seems obvious that the racist axe will be used by Forgath against Kore... or by Kore against Forgath... but what if its purpose in the story is just to mislead us?? Like the axe isn't used by either dwarf in this fight and it ends up with the GAP, just to be used against Duv later or something.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
Possible, it could be a red herring, and also something else for MM to angst over, "If I gave him the axe he would have won. It's all my fault."
On the other hand I think he'll need the +7 in order to pose enough of a threat that Kore won't just take the Attacks of opportunity shooting the fleeing GAP and Minmax.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
This actully brought up a very sad possibility in my imagination. What if Kin teleports to MinMax just when he or Forgath are swinging their weapon, and hitting her instead of the intended target. It doesn't have to be a killing blow, knocking her of the bridge might be enough. Becoming prey = killing her accidentally. Would be the worst that might happen to Minmax right now. I don't see how the last part "Friends become enemies" would fit if Minmax kills her, so it would have to be Forgath, since Forgath would understand that it was an accident if Minmax did it, while Minmax might get into a rage over the loss. It is also more likely that MinMax manages to take down Forgath than the other way around. Or would the split between friends even be within the goblins?Plays_Games wrote:Since nobody mentioned the prophecy in the last four pages, just a little reminder.

Like Steelhaven said, that comic never says that his armor makes him heavier than the others, it just says he is heavier than the others. Big Ears does seem to be bigger than the other goblins (the rest seem to be skinny, but Big Ears seems to be more muscly. ), so it would make sense that he would be heavier also. It might have nothing to do with the armor.Gryphonic wrote:http://www.goblinscomic.org/10152010-4/ The armor is a noticeable weight for a goblin; how much we don't know.

You know Thunt likes drama.spiderwrangler wrote:Me --><-- Nerre

I just noticed something:
While the prophecy of the wall did not mention Forgath death, the goblin teller did. Actually, she even mentioned a battle with another dwarf, so it is more likely Kore will kill him and MinMax will be the one who's hate gets fueled by his friend-love to Forgath. Still, dies would not explain the serpent in the story, except if Kin teleports there stops the battle between him and the goblins and finally tells MinMax she sees him too. In this case "become your prey" could be interpreted as "win her heart". Then they would have defend her against Kore, since he would consider her evil, which could lead to the death of Forgath, and fit to all parts of the prophecy. Still, Kin's survival is not sure since it could be also her death to fuel the hate.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
Remember Forgath and Minmax are hunting the GAP because they are trying to stop the "white Terror", which is duv, leader of the Viper clan, and what is a Viper? That's right, a serpent, They already have their "prey", I imagine at some point one of the duo is going to say something along the lines of "We won't let you summon the white terror" To which Thaco will respond "You mean that nutjob who rules the Viper clan and thinks she's GoboJesus? We avoid her like the plague".Nerre wrote:You know Thunt likes drama.spiderwrangler wrote:Me --><-- Nerre

You think? Tell me where I got it wrong, since I am sure I did not:
Wall: "It's going to end badly for both of you" => not directly talking about death.
Teller: "You will die in a battle with another dwarf". => clearly talking about Forgath's death.

Forgaths death is mentioned by the wall here: http://www.goblinscomic.org/12152009/Nerre wrote:You think? Tell me where I got it wrong, since I am sure I did not:

Forgath (Panel1): Hey, that's what that Goblin Hag said to me.
Forgath (Panel2): She also said I would die in Battle with another dwarf.
MinMax (Panel2): WHAT?
Wall (Panel 3): Oh yeah, that's totally going to happen. And not a good death either. Lots of screaming.

Thanks and sorry. So both prophecies are really the same, although the wall-head did not seem to take it as serious as the teller.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
The main difference is that the wall mentions that things are going to end badly for both MM and Forgath. I guess there is still a possibility that the prophecy will fail, though, and Saves a Fox is actually right about characters being in control of their own destiny. And I'm wondering if the axe and the indestructible beard are going to alter that fate in any way.
Keeping this up until the Kore mystery is resolved: paladins do not get their powers from deities, and D&D does not operate on subjective morality.

Re: December 7, 2013: Fancy Moves
I'm kind of conflicted about this. On the one hand, narrative logic usually demands that if you introduce a prophesy, and even underline it by repeating it, you can't just let it fizzle out. It has to come true in some way -- preferably unexpected.YardMeat wrote:The main difference is that the wall mentions that things are going to end badly for both MM and Forgath. But, on the other hand, Thunt's theme does seem to involve destinies being mutable based on later actions. So on that score, I'd point out that both of the prophesies were made before MinMax stood up to Goblinslayer. A whole long list of consequences have flowed from that pivotal point, including the whole Maze of Many. So, yes, the axe and the indestructible beard could conceivably change the outcome of the fight with Kore.
(I take it as a given that Kore is just going to open fire without worrying overmuch about MinMax and Forgath being in the way. He's never showed any sign of concern about incidental casualties; I don't imagine he's going to start now. His approach seems to be more on the lines of "Slaughter them all, let the gods sort it out." MM and F will be forced to fight him in self-defense.)
