I just wish the clock had something more fun to say... like "Lost initiative roll"

ETA: THunt - get well soon!

It's winter in the Northern Hemisphere right now, meaning that days are actually much, much, shorter. I happen to live above the 45th parallel myself and am enjoying getting up and going to work, and getting off and driving home in the dark.

It's only in the Summer that days get considerably longer.
Well, you need a night between each day... so it just must be a long "night" right now...

That widget is inobviously positioned and usually contains random nonsense. A 404 Cartoonist Not Found error ought to go in a banner at the top of the page or something.

Cheer up, Archerd, they're getting longer now! Today it wasn't pitch-dark until nearly 6 pm in TO. Well, technically it's never quite pitch-dark in TO, but you take my meaning.

Anyway, hooray for sunlight! :cheer:

My favourite suggestion so far :)

@Lady Dawn - there is quite some debate at how long 'today' actually is ... I think we briefly moved to lunar days, otherwise it does not add up ...

Not at THIS time of the year! Way up here in the Great White North (and by that, I do mean that I get -50C temperatures.. and we've had a whole whack of them this winter)... we have very little sunlight!

Dec 21, 2013 Sunrise: 8:59 AM Sunset: 3:59 PM Daylight Hours: 7h 00m 15s
Jun 21, 2013 Sunrise: 4:46 AM Sunset: 10:20 PM Daylight Hours: 17h 33m 25s

As you can see..... December/January are not the highpoints!

Today I had:
Jan 29, 2014 Sunrise: 8:30 AM Sunset: 4:59 PM Daylight Hours: 8h 28m 59s

:D

I'm from the 45th!!! There's a road that clearly states it's the 45th parallel!

I currently live just about at the 56th. My family got 2 more hours of sunlight than I did on December 21!

I'm from almost right on the 44th parallel, but currently live around 47.5. The days are noticeably different.

I'm having super long days compared to you, Lin. Oh yes. Sunrise at 7:04, sunset at 4:59, length of day 9:55.

And Steve, didn't you see 30 Days of Night? Vampires move to the extreme north in the winter so they can feed round the clock.Image

Pffft. But zombies would freeze and be unable to move. I'll take vampires as at least if I became a vampire I'd have cognitive function!

And yes... we have no sun and we have massive cold... but in the summer we will KICK YOUR BUTTS with sunlight! Which would be enough to probably kill all the vampires. We just gotta make it a few more months!

I often wonder why no one on The Walking Dead suggests moving north. Up here we'd all be playing off road zombie-ball. That's where you drive by them in your SUV and smash them with a baseball bat. Fun for all.

I'm sure vampires move south in the northern summer. Look out Antarctica.

Yeah... we range from colder than -50C(-58F) to the 30C(86F) range. Last summer though we had some 40C(104F) days which were brutal!

Well, the return to whence they came from, a place I believe called 'Dusto Dust'.

On the main theme topic, Tarol seems to knock himself out with difficult pages, this one must be a doozy - blood, injuries, combat and Kore - Massive amounts of detail to keep in track and in mind. I can see in the Twitterfeed he is struggling with keeping the detail right - I think where there are Kore days or blood days, moving from a 3-5 day update schedule to "whatever works" would be a better system. Variable based on the detail required to keep things on track.

I reckon the Mr Fingers part must have been one of the hardest set of combat pages to draw up ... and the pages involving the Thaco and sewers the easiest ... if only we could encouage more combat to take place in snowfields in the dark ... pages would just fly off off his Wincom tablet.

Tarol should ditch the clock if he can't stick to the schedule. And we all know he can't stick to the schedule for very long.

OOTS doesn't have a publishing schedule, but I never get angry at Rich Burlew if there's no comic for a week or two. Ditto OGLAF. Ditto Erfworld. Why? Because I'm not expecting an update on such-and-such a day. None of those webcomics promise a new comic on a certain date and then fail to deliver on it. There's just no need for the Goblins countdown clock. It invokes too much nerd rage.

...doesn't Oglaf follow a weekly update schedule? Every sunday, methinks?

Erm, I mean, I don't read Oglaf. T-That would be incredibly revealing about my character. I-I just... okay, fine, maybe a little.

OOTS doesn't, but doesn't Oglaf update every Sunday, with only a very occasional exception, and an explanation if it's missed? And Erfworld might not have a promised update schedule at the moment, but it has a habit of promising a certain update schedule and then breaking it. I understand they've dealt with a lot of extenuating circumstances, but that's beside the point.

Anyway, Tarol's been sticking to his update day pretty consistently. Only 1 or 2 exceptions since he started using the clock has he missed the day entirely. Keep in mind there's about 5 more hours to today in Tarol's timezone.

I don't know...
Sorry Rich, but I wait for the Goblins update much more.
I mean, when OOTS updates I'm like "hey! that's nice. another OOTS page". as for goblins, I check in the website almost every day, looking frward for the update (inspite of the RSS)

I think no matter what information is put up there, it will not be enough to satisfy the hoards of querious followers. I think advertising for fans to offer filler pages is appropriate when the schedule blows out.

it would just be nice to know why or when the next one is going up, when it is 10 days since the last one. Not all of us use twitter, or care for twitter, so we don't know what is going on.

Funny you should say that, because that's the initial plot of Season 2 of the Telltale TWD game series.

And Telltale is also failing to follow the timetable its fans expected of it...

I don't think anyone else is really any the wiser. I hope Thunt's okay; and hope maybe he just changes the update time to "as soon as possible, get off my back already!!" for the next few updates. I think it's easier to deal with uncertainty in the update day/time than missing scheduled updates.
