Randy grimaces. "How deep are the wells and deep is the water in them?"

Dornikal gives an non-committal shrug,

"Ye know how long the rope is to lower the bucket at this well and aye'll guessing the ones before it? That deep and then some. Aye've no idea how deep the water below what the bucket reaches is... Though aye'm sure we weren't scraping the bottom else we would have brought up more sand or grit."

If they are at the well, Randy will exam it for how solid/safe it is as well as size.

Investigation:1d20+1 = [5] = 6

(It's a kinda dark and creepy looking hole in the ground. :chuckle:)

"Ily can go. Just pop him in the bucket and I'll tell you what he sees. I'll need to lean on someone though, I can't see or hear when I'm focused on his senses."

Dornikal, seeing Randy peering at the well, will say,

"Wells are old. Built long time ago by someone that knew their business. Almost up to dwarven standards aye'd say."

He raps as knuckle lightly on the rim of the well.

While the others are looking at the well, Nem looks around for a little pebble and pulls up the bucket from the well.

Maji looks uninterested in the well shenanigans, He goes into the wagon and starts ritually casting locate plant/animal (lion).

Randy sighs. "No, it's alright. I'll go down and see what I can see. I doubt Ily can climb a wet rope, and he still wouldn't know how deep the water is. I'll use my rope to go down on and we can use the bucket to pull up...whatever. But if I give a couple of good yanks on the rope, pull me up fast."

Randy will back one of the wagons close enough to the well to use as an anchor, tie a loop of his rope around his chest and then tie the other end to the wagon. He'll leave all his gear except his swords and daggers and rappel down into the well, after lowering the original rope and bucket down.

Cojlin will stay near the well in case of any problems, but overall he will stay quiet until Randy does his investigation.

"We could just lower him in the bucket and pull him back up. Ily, go with him and carry this for him. Randy, shout if you want rid of him and I'll recall him back to me. I assume you haven't suddenly learned to see in tha dark, so he can be your lantern."

Nem sends Ily onto Randy's shoulder. She also casts Light on the pebble and gives it to Ily to hold in his mouth / paws.

"Well, that will probably work better than me trying to jam my sword in the wall for light." He pulls the light spell sword out of it's sheath halfway to show her.

Nem laughs.

"Yes, this is probably easier! And if you drop the pebble, you won't decapitate yourself. It's a win-win!"

"We'll watch the rope too. If there's dead bodies down there, they might have attracted scavengers and the like. A well is no place for a fight, so if you need pulled out in a hurry yell and we'll get you out of there!"

"I'll take the swords and take my chances. If there's something down there, I want something bigger than a knife. Besides, I may still need another light source. I can always stick the blade under the water and (hopefully) use it to light up the bottom while I'm looking for parts. If I find any, I'll dump them in the bucket to be hauled up and give the bucket rope a couple of yanks. And you'd better believe that I'll yell if something tries to eat me!"

Zephyr makes a point to mention. "I suppose I do have this cloak that lets me swim and breathe underwater, though how would a poisoned well affect breathing underwater."

Randy looks at Zephyr. "Are you volunteering to go down, or are you offering to loan the cloak?"

((if Zephyr decides to go down the well instead, it's up to her whether to take Ily with her or not, since she wont technically need the extra light))

Zephyr shrugs and removes any items from her person in which getting wet would be bad. "Sure, lets do this."

"If you get into trouble, yell or yank on the rope a couple of times. Watch your breathing. Bad air sometimes collects at the bottom of wells. I'd say there's a pretty decent chance of that since the orcs dumped bodies down there. If you get light headed or feel bad, get out. "

"So... What'd be a proper tune for the occasion..?" Ulmwin asks, half jestingly... He seems wanting to play at least a small tune to help Zephyr focus, though.

(Take bardic inspiration)
