Awesome, Awesome, very awesome...

Complains, stop being a penismonkey. Also, who thinks maybe Complains is now just a bit more aggressive and nasty due to the soul tearing thingy that happened back in Brassmoon? It doesn't seem quite like him to attempt and kill someone who has just gone through a great loss and is obviously very very sad.

Sad for us maybe, but to Complains it could be an opportunity to take out the monster that almost single-handedly destroyed his entire village and killed many of his friends.
Indeed. In fact, it seems to me that it would take superhuman (or supergoblin) levels of restraint for any of the GAP to just overlook the slaughter of the warcamp. But presumably that`s what`s going to happen.

Pardon my apostrophes, my keyboard is acting weird.

Ears does have the ability to empathize with such obvious, overwhelming grief. He looks like he's poised already to intervene on moral grounds, and as Lurks_in_Shadows pointed out, pragmatic Thaco is also likely to be against trying to take out a tank player at the beginning of a dungeon. Even if the goblins won there'd be losses from the fight. Much better to team up -- together they might actually have a chance of getting through.

Also, the dungeon may not be designed to give them the leisure for what it'll see as an intra-party battle.

So, no. I don't expect anything more than (at most) the bare beginnings of a fight here. Complains will just have to put his death oath on hold until after they're through the Dragon's Maw.

Not to mention this is the second time Forgath's actions have saved goblins. Granted the first time, he put the goblins in the danger he saved them from.. Still, something like that was unprecedented back at the warcamp. For Forgath's sake, I could see them putting differences aside enough to let Minmax walk first and soak up all the trap damage form a temporary alliance. :)

I suspect that would be the argument that sways Complains. Then, if they're both still alive at the end of the crawl, they could have it out.

I think we're in for a long wait how this plays out.
Last Dungeon took ages with "normal" update speed.
Let's see how long this one will take...
So, for a while we might not get Forgath updates.
And Kin updates may come never....

To everyone thinking Complains is being stupid here: Let's not forget, this was how Complains' first met Minmax, and this was how he left. His grudge is perfectly understandable.

On the other hand, MinMax and Forgath just saved the goblins' lives.

After specifically teleporting to them to attack them.

Has Ears used up his daily Smite Evil? It'd be interesting to see what would happen if he used it on Complains, without thinking to Detect first. Complains's demon transmutation might make him vulnerable.

Forgath saved the goblins by risking his own life to buy them time, and previously saved Thac0's life and called off the attack after his revelation. MM held up a grate, which to the GAP isn't such a great achievement when he was clearly only doing it to get Forgath back. Not to mention, he teleported to them specifically to kill Complains so -again, from the GAP's PoV- he's clearly in the same state he was in when they left.

If they ask what he means by "not you, too," and he brings up Kin, then Ears and Complains are probably going to want to know what happened after she fell out of the wagon. They both felt responsible for that.

Meanwhile, Kin probably just felt Minmax's agony at losing Forgath. Once she's up to speed on the Kore situation, she's going to want Kore's head. She'll be the only one mourning both Forgath and Chief. Unless M-GAP is reunited with Forgath before Kin, anyway.

I suspect Complains is going to ALMOST go all rage-face, and Ears will almost try and intervene, before the dungeon does the intervening for them.

That or Minmax will channel all his grief into a hate-on at Complains.

It is so good to be rampantly speculating again, but I do hope that with this dungeon we occasionally cut away to Kin or Forgath, I loved the Maze of Many but two solid years (or was it three?) without knowing what was going on with the GAP killed me.

EDIT:
The RSS didn't update. I don't know how big a fix that is, but I bet A LOT of people are watching the RSS for updates rather than opening the main page.

Complains my sweet cupcake child be nice. Start a jam session over how y'all both lost someone important a few minutes ago oh dear.

Also since the whole Kin thing has been brought up, casual reminder that Chief died thinking he failed to save Kin. Lovely. :becry:

You know, the more I look at it, as much as we are all eager to the formation of the MAGAP it would be too much of a hole to not have Complains confront Minmax over this. He is a firebrand and is not at all quick to trust or forgive in spite of the very recent assistance of MM and his partner.
I do not know if anyone is going to get wounded in the conflict, but they need to address their history before they could realistically form a longer term party or they would not be staying true to character.

I am very much looking forward to how this turns out.

GOBLIIIIIIIIIIINS! :freaky:

*Ahem*

On Complains' ill-timed feud, remember it's only been a few minutes since Chief's death on their side. Minmax didn't realize the buttons he was pushing when he dropped in on them. Both of them are under severe emotional strain right now; the difference is that Complains has had time to progress from shock to fury. Minmax is still hitting walls again in panic.

Yes, Ears, trip him under the water*. Paladins don't let friends stab a crying man in the back. ;)
willpell wrote:Has Ears used up his daily Smite Evil? It'd be interesting to see what would happen if he used it on Complains, without thinking to Detect first. Complains's demon transmutation might make him vulnerable.
Complains may be affected by it now, but I don't think Ears would resort to that unless he was really serious. At which point Smiting Complains wouldn't be an "oops."

I agree with those saying this level of background detail is really amazing, but seems prohibitively time-consuming. If THunt wants us to admire his art - and the dungeon - perhaps the best way would be to do a big illustration like this when they get to a new room (or activate something in the current one), and then drop to a simpler rendering for the background of panels taking place there. We'll be able to fill in the missing details ourselves.

*Or do a Forgath-on-Minmax style tackle. I'd love to see that.

I doubt that they will be allowed to work through it all right away, but will have to have it simmering for the duration of the crawl.

I think that one Minmax panel where the shading was a little less complex did a good job of drawing focus to the character rather than the enviroment.

Or use it when you want the focus to be the incredible space, and tone it down when you want to focus on the characters.

I think complains is going to attack whatever belongs to that blue "fin" in panel 6. (or is that just the tip of his sword nevermind)

I like the detailed art in certain places like panel 1 here it does a nice job setting the mood. Or for the face of kore, but I would be fine if he toned down the detail even more on the rest of the panels.

Not always. They only glow when he activates the armor, but they've been glowing since Chief gave him Bull's Strength... possibly before. (I'm not archive diving that far back to check.)
