30 April 2013: Altsplanation 5 - Reality 98

If we look at it as a (stereo)typical D&D adventure, the Kin and the Teapot "hook" for going to the Maze could be constant across realities.

This also potentially foreshadows more character development for Minmax if the run-in with Psimax doesn't improve.....

And JESUS what kind of picture could possibly depict such a solemn, 9001% badass Minmax? I'm almost happy that it didn't have a picture, our brains might have not been able to take the awesomeness. Although I wish he'd at least described him ("broadsword" hardly narrows it down) so we could know who to look for...besides a lone Minmax, but there could always be some whose partners have died in the dungeon. Ahhhh. Curiosity.

I'm still holding out hope that one of the books will have all the alternate universes listed with alsplanation text. And that each Reality will have an image of that Party.

Of course, there was one which Thunt said would never appear again (it was also a solo-MinMax and he was seen in the multiple windows)...

But I can imagine the mindbreak when you are sure it is over, and then a new announcement board pops up.

That came up a few times in Dexter, I believe. Though not with Dexer himself, but with some of those he hunts.

Nope. Then it wouldn't be Reality 98. There would be a new Reality 98 in the Maze.

I don't think so. He didn't have a lot of time to get to know her. It could be Forgath, but I don't think so. Minmax never seemed to be very sentimental, so I don't think going to see somebody he likes would be good enough of a reason. That leaves Goblinslayer. I think it's him. Minmax barely started Forgaths board, so he wants finish what he started. Remember, this is early Minmax without a lot of character development. He didn't have a lot of fluffy feelings like he now does about Kin. He has a basic sense of right and wrong, and Goblinslayer was wrong. Not only did he do horrible things to Kin, (he would have punished GS for that anyway, think of the window times 1000), but then he targeted Forgath. No, Minmax isn't going for a teary reunion right now. Minmax is the Unstoppable Warrior on a mission to punish an evildoer. I see Reality 98 Minmax to have the same basic motives as Kore, but all focused on one person, and he wants to make it last. (Remember "our" Minmax's threat to Psimax. "I'll kill you twice!" Now he has the reason, and possible the means to do just that, but to somebody else)

I'm going to go cry in a corner now. Thunt needs to tell some great jokes later to make up for this.

You have a point. When I read it, I thought that it was recently after they escaped, but I don't remember any numbers, and I'm too horrified to go back to reread it.

I don't think he is going to either Forgath or Kin. It seemed to me that he was going back to Goblinslayer so he could finish the torture. There was almost a whole board left.

Okay, that...I didn't even think of that. Mind is blown. Lone Minmax just got a bajillion times more darker. I was thinking he wanted to see Forgath or Kin, and I was like, "Aww, sad Minmax is sad " But that...MAKES HIM EVEN MORE BADASS. HOLY FREAKING EVERYTHING.
And, what can I say, Matney, I ceartainly do! New favorite! Best backstory ever!

Also, Celine, yes. I would love an entire book just on all the Altsplanations, with illustrations. "Shut up and take my money!"

I am going off of the assumption that our reality and reality 98 are very similar, with the major change being that Kin never killed Goblinslayer.

Thunt said in the live stream yesterday that he had to put up an Altsplanation page because he'd spent so much time taking care of some Card Game artwork, and a few other things he'd been putting off for a while. So, this page isn't an attempt to string along the audience or incite rage.

Anyway, as a fan of Dexter, I'm a fan of the Minmax #98 character. He had one bad day...twice.

Yikes! At first I was sad for TortureMax (thank you, Kennerly, that seems fitting) because I thought he was going to use the teapot to try and find Kin. I was feeling sorry for him and kind of hoping there might be a way for him to succeed along with Our Group. Now? Yeah... no. I'm feeling just a little sick. As much as I hate him, even Goblinslayer doesn't deserve that.

I thought similarly. It is very likely that most Minmaxes in this race will react very badly to anyone torturing (any) Kin again; inciting a mass-rage vs. PsiMax, especially in TortureMax.
I mean, look at the reaction of our Forgath. Now imagine the third party member who does have feelings for her.

Because it runs 100% counter to his plans for using the maze to obliviate himself. If he leaves the maze, he'll have to waste hundreds of attempts studying a whole new combination of alternate groups.
